5| Hospital visit

**Mavin**

After finishing my bath, I stepped out into my bedroom to put on a casual blue top and black trousers.

I walked towards the mirror to comb my short black hair, as I didn't keep a beard, and I stared at my neck, which felt sore and had finger scratch marks. I realized those were Thelma's doing.

I frowned as memories of the previous night flooded back. I was beginning to recall the moment I had entered into her warmth, and though I tried, I couldn't bring myself to forget what had happened between Thelma and me.

My head ached from the memories, and I groaned in annoyance.

"Damn it!" As much as the medicine or whatever drug Sir Adam had given me had cleared from my system, I was still experiencing hot flashes and headaches.

I thought again to warn Sir Adam never to try such nonsense on me again or to follow my grandfather's orders. If he did, he'd be fired and thrown in jail.

Sir Adam is a 53-year-old man who has been with me for a long time. He likes to call me "boss," saying it motivates me and reminds me of my rank in City B.

I sighed, finally walking away from the mirror after applying my perfume. I left my bedroom and went downstairs to accompany my grandfather to the hospital, as promised.

Grandpa was smiling throughout, like someone who had just won a trophy. He was already neatly dressed in a brown garment, and I walked towards the dining room to have breakfast with him.

I took my seat at the long golden dining table, across from my grandfather. I said, “Grandpa, I'm not happy with what you did last night.”

“Why? What did I do wrong, Mavin?” Grandpa's smile was still bright on his old face, and I knew he was aware of what he had done.

“Aren't you the one who arranged for Sir Adam to send that young woman to me last night? Why, Grandpa?” I asked, my anger spilling over. I had gone through my grandfather’s will, and he stated that if I didn’t marry before the year ended, he would give away his company and hotel to the poor while he was still alive. I had only two months left before the year ended, and today was October 18th.

“Don’t ask me why, Mavin. It's not like she's ugly. Don’t you like the young woman that Adam brought to you?” Grandpa said. “We can look for her again and bring her back, or find another woman for you if you want.”

“No, Grandpa... I don't need her again. And don’t ever try to do something like that with me again. I won't take it lightly.” I slightly warned my grandpa, and he just hummed, “Hmm...”

Angela is the head maid of my mansion, which I have owned since I bought it five years ago when I turned 30.

We moved out of the old family house, which had also been Grandpa's house.

“Good morning, boss. What would you like for breakfast?” Angela politely asked me after serving my grandfather his herbal tea the way he liked it.

I sighed and looked away from my grandfather’s face to focus on Angela, a middle-aged woman. Most of the female staff working in my mansion were middle-aged, except for the younger maids who were recently employed. I wasn’t familiar with many of them as my mansion is very big and spacious, with lots of rooms.

“Just tea and bread, please. Make it quick; we’re already running late,” I told Angela, then glanced at the dining room wall clock. It was already 9 a.m.

I sighed again, knowing that my grandpa's appointment with the doctor was around 10 a.m., so I waited for Angela to serve my breakfast.

After finishing my tea with my grandpa at the dining table, I stood up and escorted him outside to my car. He sat in the backseat, and I shut the door for him before hopping into the driver's seat.

I started the car and drove out of my premises, navigating the city myself. I arrived at the magnificent Saint Peter Hospital in City B, parked in the hospital parking lot, and stepped out.

I walked over to the passenger side to assist my grandpa in getting out, and we made our way into the hospital lobby. My mind kept racing back to the attractive lady I had slept with the previous night.

Her soft body had excited me, and whenever I saw any pretty blonde women in the OPD section of the hospital, my heart skipped a beat, thinking they might be Thelma.

“Oh no...” I grimaced, and my grandpa glanced at me and asked, “What's the matter, Mavin? Are you still thinking about that young lady?”

“No, Grandpa,” I replied coldly. We walked to a chair where I sat with Grandpa in the OPD waiting room.

I took out my phone, slid the screen to unlock it, and immediately placed a call to my office assistant, Henry Black.

“Hello, Boss,” Henry spoke up as soon as the phone call connected, answering on the second ring.

“Please inform Mrs. Tonia Briggs that I won't be arriving at the office on time today. I went to the hospital with Grandpa, and she should reschedule most of my business meetings with top clients for noon. You can attend to the rest that are arriving.” I let Henry know, as he is my trusted assistant who helps monitor all my company activities in my absence.

“Alright, boss. Anything else?” Henry asked.

“No, that's all.”

I ended the call and continued waiting for the queue to reduce so we could see the doctor.

Soon, we stood up from our seats and walked into the doctor’s office.

Grandpa is 85 years old, yet he can walk without a cane and remains mischievous in nature.

“Good morning, Mr. White,” Doctor Amari Hanks smiled at us. She is my grandpa's favorite doctor.

Grandpa enjoys having women treat him and touch him. Doctor Amari asked my grandpa, “How are you feeling today, Grandpa Charlie White?”

“I'm good,” Grandpa replied with a smile, while I sat silently beside him.

My mind was still preoccupied with memories of the previous night with Thelma. The fact that Sir Adam had told me he didn't pay her made me feel guilty as I recalled the things I had done when we were together.

I couldn't believe Sir Adam had given to me something that had such a strong effect, and I needed to find Thelma quickly so I could compensate her for that night and stop feeling guilty about my actions.

“Are you feeling fine today, Mr. Mavin?” Doctor Amari asked, using my name instead.

I met her big brown eyes staring at me and replied, “Yes, I’m fine... But please attend to my grandpa first. I’m not a patient,” I said.

“But you're sweating a lot, despite the air conditioning being on in my office. Sometimes, it's good to do a check-up on yourself; don't wait until your body collapses before you do it,” Doctor Amari advised politely.

“Okay, I’ll consider it, but not today. I have a business meeting at noon,” I replied.

I was still in pain but didn't want to be confined to a hospital bed.

Doctor Amari smiled sadly and said, “Hmm, it's just friendly advice, Mr. Mavin. But I can run a quick check-up on you if you want it done fast.”

Doctor Amari is a married woman, yet her flirtatious demeanor irritates me. She’s a young lady, clearly attracted to me, as shown by the way her big brown eyes shine seductively.

Now I understood why she had so many patients waiting outside her office; even those who weren’t truly sick would love to visit her hospital just to be touched by her.

I guessed that was also why my grandpa loved to visit her hospital. It had been passed down to her as her inheritance since it was a large building.

I heard she was happily married, but I was sure Grandpa would wish Doctor Amari were still single so he could propose to her on my behalf.

Yet, I didn't like her and only tolerated her flirtatious behavior because she was my grandfather's doctor.

“Grandpa, you look so happy today. What’s the good news?” Doctor Amari finally asked.

Grandpa smiled as she finished checking his vitals and said, “I’m just happy to see you today, Doc.”

“Mm,” Doctor Amari blushed, her big brown eyes shining again, reminding me of the attractive blonde lady I had spent the night with.

“That’s good to hear, Grandpa. I've written out some of your new medications. You can meet the nurses on duty to collect them before you leave. Thank you for visiting us today, Grandpa,” Doctor Amari said as we stood up to leave her office.

“Thanks,” Grandpa replied, but I remained silent as we exited her office and headed home, shortly after collecting Grandpa's medications from the hospital pharmacy.
