"Put it there," Xavier said moving from the doorway and pointing to the table at the corner of the room. The girl dropped it off and glanced at the young lady she was relieved when she saw that she was doing quite well. She bowed and left in a hurry. Xavier entered the walk-in closet and changed his clothes to his pajamas before coming back out. Jessica watched him in awe as he went about his nightly routine. He had not finished consoling her yet he was comfortably doing something else. "Xavier" she called his name quite absentmindedly because she was busy watching him. He was in front of the mirror. He turned to face her and she looked him in the eye. She has always seen his beauty but this time it shone through. She gulped down the question she wanted to ask him long forgotten in her memory. Maybe it was the fact that she was heartbroken and lonely or the fact that his attempt at consoling her was the worst technique she had ever seen or the fact that he looked so hot right now
Jessica took small bites out of the bowl of oats. She wanted to convince herself that there was no way that Xavier was concerned about her up to the extent that he got her a meal. He was the same jerk that got her riled up all day. "Finish every last drop," Xavier said. Jessica had tried to stop her spoon because she was filled but Xavier whose eyes were closed happened to see her drop her spoon. "I'm full, why don't you have the rest?" Jessica asked rubbing her tummy with her hand. "I don't eat so late at night" he replied. "But did you have dinner?" He had been so busy that he skipped dinner. He even had to leave work without finishing up his work. "No, I did not but I keep a strict timeline for my meals," he said standing up and walking toward the bed. "Finish up the meal," he said turning to face her before climbing up to the bed. "As I said before, I'm quite filled so I don't think I can have any more," she said also standing up. She put on the lid back on the plate and
Both Xavier and Jessica enter the car and the driver goes away. Xavier had hammered that Jessica should wear something exotic but she still went with her plain tee and skinny jeans. She was a simple girl like that. Her wardrobe barely spoke classy not to talk of exotic. Xavier made a mental note to call famous stylists and designers to change her entire wardrobe after the whole mess settles down. She would have to be his date to many events from now on so she should dress the part even if she can't be the part. She was after all now the Lady of the Delgado family. Soon the high-class ladies of the city especially her age range would want to start interacting with her. Xavier had all these in mind but he did not know how he would be able to convince Jessica to change her entire wardrobe, style and even join the club of high-class ladies. Xavier knew that even the older generation would such up to her because of the family she married into. He wondered if she would be able to handle
The car comes to a slow halt at the entrance of the hospital reception. "Let's go in holding hands," Jessica said and Xavier had a huge frown on her face. "I thought we were still playing the romantic couple role?" she added when she saw his face. She was just a normal girl there was no need for him to make such a face. Was he holding up a pile of maggots that the thoughts of holding hands troubled him so much? "If you think what we did yesterday was enough then no need to hold hands," Jessica said removing her seat belt. She thought he only volunteered to come because he knew the reporters she currently saw from the rolled-up window were going to be there. Xavier had good foresight after all. He knew that the media would come to the hospital and that was why he came but she openly asked them to hold hands was shocking to him. "No need to overthink this. If you don't want to do it. Then don't" Jessica said when she saw his face and the way it seemed his brain wheels were turning
The door to the elevator opens on the twenty-fourth floor. After Xavier had a moment of staring deep into Jessica's eyes he let go of her hand and the rest of the elevator ride was awkward. Since the VIP ward was quite private and quiet, Xavier could step out of the elevator without worrying about the blogs and tabloid owners. There was no way that they would be here. Jessica followed behind him as he took long strides. He pushed open the door to his grandfather's ward. "Just a minute Mr. Delgado, I am checking his vitals can you wait outside?" a nurse said as soon as Xavier stood in the doorway. He nodded and turned around which made him jump directly into Jessica. Her head to his chest. Being in this position she could take in his scent. He had quite a different scent from the majority of the male populace. He smelt like melted candy and cinnamon. "Are you okay?" he asked steadying her. "Yes," she answered holding her head. It did not hurt her but she did blow it out of propo
Both of them enter the hospital room and detached themselves from each other. It was as if they were both holding fire they couldn't wait to get rid of. "Oh I love to see it," Dawson said when he saw them. "See what?" Xavier asked with a bitter taste in his mouth. He knew quite well what his grandfather meant. "I need grandchildren," Dawson said. Jessica coughed at the sound of that. Dawson has not asked for a child but children. Didn't Xavier say he was about to die? "Forget it, papa," Xavier said taking a seat by his bedside. "You guys are in love so it shouldn't be something difficult or don't you think so Jessica?" Dawson said turning to Jessica. He planned to get them to confess that they were not together. He knew it from the first day they came here. Xavier must have thought him a fool. He forgets that his grandfather was once a big business tycoon. There was no secret in Chiachester City from this old man. "Jessica is not ready to have kids yet" Xavier jumped to say.
"I'm sorry about him," Jessica said going close to Dawson. She didn't know why she felt she had to apologize for what her husband who was a child in an adult body did. "Eh don't worry, he's still a child" Dawson answered. It made Jessica understand fully why Xavier was like that, Dawson pampered him and took care of him like a child. "But I'm still sorry either way" Jessica still said. For some reason, it felt like she should take responsibility for that child. "Sit down, I have something important to ask of you" Dawson gestured to the seat that Xavier was just sitting in. "Oh I hope it is something I can do" Jessica responded sitting. "I'm sure of it""So I know that you and Xavier are not acquainted and that you met in front of the courthouse on the day of the wedding" Jessica gasped at the realization that Dawson was not in the dark. Funny enough Jessica felt as if a weight was lifted from her chest. She sighed in relief. "I'm sorry Dawson, I never meant to lie but Xavier in
Jessica spent a little more time keeping Dawson company before going out to meet Xavier. She believed that Xavier wouldn't leave her since he was her ride back home and since they were still trying to prove to the public that they were a happy couple. "Good night Dawson. I'll come again soon" Jessica said as she stood at the door frame. "I will wait eagerly and hope you do come soon" Dawson replied. Jessica thought she saw a sad expression on his face. If she could she'll come every day and keep him company. It was sad to be sick and it was now even more sadder to be stuck in a hospital without any company all day. "What if I come tomorrow too? I'm free because I am on leave from work" Jessica said. She saw his face light up with joy. She was free after all there was nothing for her to do. She could as well spend her day visiting him and spending time with him. "I would very much love that," Dawson said with a smile. He was lonely since Xavier thought it wise to be at the compa
