The car slowly came to a halt in front of the sandy beach. Xavier turned off the ignition and removed his seat belt slowly. The wails that had turned to silent sobs had now left the crying girl deep in sleep. Xavier put his head on the steering wheel with his hand as support as he stared at Jessica. She had been crying non-stop so her face was all swell and her mascara had smudged up. Seeing the ruined make up Xavier is reminded of the first day they met outside the courthouse. He was too worried about the situation before him to acknowledge her but looking back now he could not deny that even with her ruined face and red face she still looked good. Jessica stirred a little in her sleep and her eyes flew open. She looked at Xavier for a few minutes before pushing herself away from the seat and sitting upright. "We are here," Xavier said clearing his throat and raising his head from the steering wheel. "Why didn't you wake me up when we got here?" Jessica asked feeling conscious o
"It's nice?" Xavier asked feeling a smile climb up his face. He did not know but the feeling of looking at her find peace while she was here was somehow healing to him. "Yes, Thank you" Jessica replied opening her eyes. Her eyes met with Xavier's string black ones. He was staring at her blankly and it made her uncomfortable. She shuffled uncomfortably looking everywhere except at his face. "Shall we take a walk? I am sure it would help bring your mind off it" Xavier suggested referring to the happenings of earlier."I am sorry for earlier. I did not know what came over me. I'm not usually such a mess" Jessica told him. "Well I disagree," Xavier said pushing himself off the car. "Shall we?" he asked pointing his hands in the direction towards the sea. "Why do you disagree and for what?" Jessica asked synchronizing her steps with his. "It's a secret," Xavier said. "Are you Mr. Xavier Delgado?" Jessica asked standing in front of him and making his steps stop. "Who are you?" she a
"Remember what?" Jessica asked confused. "You really do not remember?" Xavier asked studying her face. "Now I am very hurt that you do not remember" "Did I lose some memories?" Jessica asked looking into the blank space. "I can't believe you have forgotten when you were the one who suggested it," Xavier said. A wave of remembrance washed over her. She remembered how she wanted to be in a comfortable position with him and suggested that they become friends. His attitude did not make it easy for them. He had given her one hurdle after another every time she thought of being close to him. Was he blaming her for them not being friends? He was the reason she could not be in the same space with him. She remembered the encounter yesterday and how he had handled it. She was supposed to be mad at him but seeing how well he handled the police case and brought her here to take her kind what was going on with her she decided not to bring it up. It would do the both of them no good. "Okay, t
The sun began to set and the both of them sat at the edge of the sea just starting at the sunset. "It's so beautiful out here" Jessica commented. Xavier looked at her. It was true it was beautiful and her being there made it all picture-perfect too. 'What are you thinking' he shouted inwardly at himself. Did he just think that his wife in this scene was beautiful and she was the reason everything was so bright and beautiful? He wanted to stand up but could not get himself to do so. He wanted to watch her again and not take his eyes off her. His phone suddenly rang in his pocket. The both of them were startled and they looked at each other. Xavier was lost in the trance and left the phone ringing while staring at her. "Aren't you going to get that?" Jessica asked whispering and touching his hand gently that was on the sand. "Erm," he said and jumped back to life. "Oh yeah I am having a call"He pulled out his phone from his pant pocket and looked at the name. It was Brian. Xavie
The ride back was comfortable and a flow from the earlier vibe felt by both parties. The radio was playing a slow song and both parties just sat while Xavier drove. The silence was comfortable enough that Jessica found herself sleeping already. Xavier noticed her sleeping when her head jerked as she slept. Xavier helped her move her head to a comfortable position so her neck doesn't ache. After driving for long he pulled up to the gate of the mansion. Everywhere was dark and gloom and he still needed to go out to meet Jason. He would throw a grown-man tantrum if he did not come. Xavier parked his car in front of the main entrance. He did not want to wake Jessica up as it looked like she was sleeping soundly. He quietly switched off the car and opened the door. He went to the passenger side of the car. He opened up the door and gently removed the seatbelt from her body. In his arms, he carried her bridal style and instructed the staff standing close by to bring in her bag. Jessica
Jessica sat up straight when she knew Xavier would be far away from the house. She removed the blanket from her and looked down at her dress. It was stained and she hoped she would be able to get the stain off it. She entered the closet only to discover that her clothes were no longer there. She entered back into the room and stared at her suitcase by the door. She planned to leave the room as soon as she had gotten home. Xavier's warmth today and consideration made her feel strange about leaving the room. If she did not leave it would mean she was fickle and did not have a mind of her own. If she left it would mean she did not consider him after all the help she got. She was confused. She was sure she needed an opinion that was not hers. She looked at her bag on the chair that contained her phone. She pulled it out and stared at the screen. She has multiple missed calls from Leslie, Burke, and an unknown number, and then some text messages. She got to know that the unknown numbe
"Hit me with your question," Leslie said when she heard the distress in her friend's voice. "You know how Xavier is?" Jessica asked. She wanted to justify her actions by telling herself that Xavier was at fault and she did nothing wrong. She only tried to avoid the situation but then it got worse because of his attitude."Oh boy who doesn't," Leslie said rolling her eyes. "So we argued yesterday and I decided to move out of the room we share..." "You two share a room?" Leslie asked citing her off shocked. "Yes, we do. Back to the main point" Jessica continued "And none of you have made a move on the other?" she asked. "Yes, that is correct. Can I ask my question?" she continued. "Wow, I can't believe that. The two of you are attractive so it makes no sense" Leslie continued. "Leslie, back to the main point," Jessica said with a stern voice. It was not a matter of why they did not find each other attractive. It was a matter of what she needed to do at that point. Should she hol
Jessica unpacked her suitcase and changed into something comfortable for bed. She has a rather long shower to wash away the sickness from the drink that she wore all day. As she entered back into the room she met Roselle dropping a tray of food to the table. "What is that?" Jessica asked startling the woman. "Oh my God young lady you startle me," Roselle said her hand going to her chest. "You startled me. I did not expect to see anyone in her when I came out of the bathroom" Jessica said back. "The young master asked that I deliver a meal for you tonight," Roselle said. Jessica felt her stomach feel funny when she heard the meal delivery was Xavier's idea. It was not the first time that he cared about her dinner before. If one could look past his excesses and impossible personality she was a gem underneath the rough surface. "Thank you," Jessica said as she felt a smile climb up her face. She walked to the table where the meal was placed. Roselle watched her and could not help
