Book Two: Branch One Hundred and Fifty Nine

"This was so lovely, did you cook this yourself?" Jeanne said turning to Aletta.

"I had a little help from my sister" Aletta responded feeling so filled. She did not think she had ever had such a hearty meal in such a long time.

"You are a good sister unlike some other people" Joshua said commending Alethea while throwing shade at Jeanne.

"And you are a good person unlike others" Jeanne said countering him almost immediately.

"I am very flattered to be complimented by both of you" Alethea said causing the table to erupt in a laugh.

"Where is your mom?" Joshua asked his eyes scanning the room.

When they had come they had expected to meet her but she was nowhere to be found and did not come out for breakfast also.

"She said she had an important breakfast with friends" Alethea responded standing up to clear the table. If she was to be honest she was glad her mom was not there or else she might have had to walk on eggshells
