Thirty-Nine

Zyrielle's POV.

"I've been waiting for you all day." I mumbled as soon as he walked in at the strike of midnight.

Watching him push some hair away from his face, I made a mental note to remind him to get a trim soon. "You look tired."

"Yeah... Had a long meeting today. I need to take a shower." He answered abruptly and headed into the shower.

This was unlike him. I didn't want to complain because after witnessing firsthand how his meetings could go, and that was only the preliminary stage, I knew that it was enough for him to trudge in.

I had no right to accuse him of infidelity when we both knew the terms and conditions of the marriage. We were more like flatmates than real couples and I was more to blame for that.

"Do you need anything?!" I yelled.

"No. Please tell Meg that I'm not hungry," he responded before shutting the shower door.

Okay?... Something was going on but he was refusing to talk about it. This was weird anyway but I was intrigued.
