Zyrielle's POV.

At eight p.m, I was waiting with a cake in hand, hoping that Rain was going to come in right on time and we were going to begin our conversation fully.

Although Meg had told me a lot of things, I still didn't want to believe that Rain wasn't who I thought he was because of Lucas.

Call me prejudiced, I accept but I was more than scared of losing everything that I had worked for, because I was trusting a man.

Meg's advice kept resounding in my ears and I felt awkward but knew deep down that it was a solution to most of my problems.

I had to see a therapist to be free from the damage that Lucas had caused in my life. This wasn't exactly what I was looking for but I would register for a session, that would have to be much more after my surgery. Despite how things seemed, I was sure that there were a lot of things to be put in place.

Rain walked in tiredly with his briefcasing and I felt bad for the way I had been treating the unsuspecting man. He wasn't the cause of my

Zyrielle's POV. I decided to fold some clothes to get my mind off the story he had told me. He didn't need to go much into details for me to understand the gravity of what was happening to him. I could figure it out already. "Hey, here you are. There I was thinking that you weren't around. Is everything okay?" He poked his head into the basket. "Why are you doing that, Meg is here to take care of it." He spoke and I nodded. "Are you sure you are actually okay?" He inquired again and I nodded. I didn't know why I was feeling so emotional it wasn't like he was also feeling that way, I just felt for him. Blame it on the pregnancy hormones. It had a way of messing with people's emotions. "I was waiting for you down stairs to have a bite of the cake you baked, which is really delicious by the way." He complimented me and I chuckled. "What? You don't think it's true?" He inquired and I chuckled again. "I wouldn't call myself or professional in the baking industry, I just watched a cou

Rain's POV. She backed up instantly and I burst into laughter. That was exactly how I knew she was going to react. It was lovely to understand her person because she was as unproblematic as they came. "That isn't part of the script now is it?" She inquired and I laughed. I hadn't laughed this much in my entire lifetime but she was making a really good impression and I didn't want to stop her. This was more than I had hoped for.It was surprising how things were falling in place without me having to do too much. She would back away the minute she noticed me trying to do something like convince her to stay with me."Have you any idea how much I've been longing to do this?" I decided to tease her further. She glanced at me as though I was losing my mind speaking about my desires. "I don't roll that way." She answered politely. "I was only kidding." I tried to pacify her because she was getting hot at my idea of trying to take advantage of the situation. "I need to take a shower. It

Zyrielle's POV. "Funny how we run into the least expected people." I heard a screeching voice behind me and I rolled my eyes. It was the one and only Cheryl. What were the odds of running into her at this time? Especially at this place? I felt like there was more to her being here. I was only here to do some baby shopping due to Rain's persistence. He was more optimistic than I was about the delivery of this child and wanted me to have the total experience of birthing a child into the world. "Is this actually what you are here for?" I inquired, she looked every inch as tall as I used to be before getting pregnant and sick. Very elegant and looking so innocent that one wouldn't know that she could cause some harm. She squinted at me, pretending as though I was not existent but I had no choice whatsoever than to watch her carefully until she was done pretending. I wasn't going to get sucked into the rabbit hole of arguing back and forth with her without having anything to show forth

Zyrielle's POV. I faced Lucas with a small smile on my face. He was trying to get on my very nerves but I wasn't going to allow that. It was a long time coming and I had to maintain an utmost indifference to whatever he was trying to do. "Have you also decided to start stalking me now? I know that you might have missed having me around but this doesn't make any sense. You are here to shop, why don't you do that and get out?" I inquired from him He was surprised at my dismissive reply. They wanted me to get into a word battle with them but it wasn't going to happen. "Is this what Rain has been teaching you? To forget that you once had people who helped you achieve everything that you possess today. It is a sign of forgetfulness when people suddenly become more than they thought they could. I don't blame you at all because it's just a response to what I should have known you would do." I was tired of having this conversation and looked around. This was the time I really nee

Zyrielle's POV. "Hi Dr Sanchez." I greeted as soon as I entered his office. He didn't respond as usual but only shot me a smile. "It's good to see you again Mrs Duncan." He answered in a measured tone, causing me to restrain my happiness. Rain had decided to come with me into the doctor's office so that he could hear what he had to say for himself. I knew it was just an excuse so that he could ascertain how Dr Sanchez loved me so much. This was still foreign to me. Their rivalry was subtle but I could spot it now that I knew. "Good day Mr Duncan." Dr Sanchez spoke in the professional tone brooking no form of familiarity. "Good day Dr Sanchez. It's good to see you again." He responded in an equal matching tone. I felt like sighing because this man was going to make this examination very difficult for me to concentrate on. "Can I have a moment with you Dr Sanchez?" Rain spoke and I shook my head. "I promise it won't be for long. If you can just spare me a little time, I

Lucas's POV. Walking down the aisle with Cheryl didn't seem like a very good option at the moment with the way she had taken it upon herself to frustrate the energy out of my life. Although she didn't see it as a problem, I couldn't cope with such an intense amount of nagging anymore. "Why would you even say that I caused you problems? This is just something we can resolve calmly." She continued yapping. I tuned her out of my mind as I focused on my next move. I didn't want Rain to see me coming. I wanted to take him unaware so that he stopped gloating. "Are you even listening to me?" She asked. I looked up and heaved a sigh. Cheryl was going to be the death of me. "Why have you taken it upon yourself to frustrate me?" I answered her speedily. She wore a shocked expression but I refused to give in. "Why would you even say that?" She asked but I shrugged. "I have been nothing but sweet to you. Ever since you saw Zyrielle again you have been acting strange. If anyone

Rain's POV. The week has been so hectic, coupled with everything that Zyrielle had been going through and me trying to play doctor so that she would recover quickly or not relapse, so I decided to head to a bar to clear my head before I returned home. "Yo man! It's nice running into you today. We never see you anywhere anymore." Jack, one of my friends said and I rolled my eyes. Of course, he was going to have something to say. "He doesn't look like he's in a good mood," Turner spoke mockingly and I rolled my eyes. I should have known better than to invite them over for a drink. "Reserving a VIP lounge doesn't give you the right to constitute a nuisance." I fired them so that they could maintain some form of decorum. We were outside, and anyone could be taken video. "Why have you suddenly become so serious? I mean, you never liked hanging out with us, but this is weird. You look like you have been through hell." Turner replied I am sure the whole bar had heard my plight. "Why do

Zyrielle's POV. My phone continued buzzing and I decided to give thought to it. Rain was yet to return, so I figured that he could be the only one calling, probably to tell me that he would stay out later than usual. Color me shocked when I saw a video of him hugging Cheryl, from the look of things they seemed pretty intimate. 'Wow.' I mouthed.I chuckled softly. What was I even expecting in the first place from their family? They had a way of piercing one's heart when one was starting to rely on them. This was one of the reasons I didn't want to trust him in the first place. I knew that he was too good to be true. I was feeling like a blatant fool who saw that there was a pit yet went ahead blind through. How could I have been so stupid not to spot the fact that he was only just trying to take advantage of me? I was so foolish not to understand how this worked and now I felt like annihilating myself. This was why he decided not to pick my calls when I tried to reach him because

Zyrielle's POV. "He hits you?" I inquired from her softly. "Tell me you are lying Cheryl. I know that this might be a ploy for you to begin your pity party but..." "Why would I lie about something like that? I am a victim of abuse. Why do you think I demanded a divorce from him? I can play you the videos so that you know that I am not lying." Cheryl said. I refused to believe that she was enduring abuse yet never said anything. Well it could be because she wanted to have everything to herself and right now it was backfiring sweetly. "My goodness... Are you kidding me?" I replied, waiting for her to deny it. She shook her head pitifully and in that instant I didn't know what else to do. "I wouldn't lie about something as grave as that. I am happy that he is behind bars but let's be factual, he wouldn't be staying there for a long time. When he comes out, he would only continue from where he stopped and that is where you come in. You will have to help me fight him. It would be our

Zyrielle's POV. Although a few days had passed yet I couldn't shake off the nagging feeling in my head that I hadn't seen the end of Lucas. He was going to do something one way or the other. I still walked in fear hoping that he was just bluffing and there weren't any nudes on the internet waiting to be released. These thoughts ate deeply into my subconscious and gradually I was beginning to lose my patience. Brenda noticed this because she handled all my meetings with ease and told me to get some rest. It was easier said than done, especially with everything that was going on. A knock drew me out of my thoughts, making me look up. Brenda walked in with a smile on her face. "You have a visitor. Cheryl." She spoke. I wasn't in the mood to discuss with Cheryl despite expecting her after all this while. I knew she was going to come up with something more like an accusation but I wasn't ready to dive into that. I nodded anyway. Putting our meeting off was not going to solve the probl

Zyrielle's POV.Right at that moment a lot of things went wrong with my mental health. I couldn't breathe properly, I began to think of how the media was going to go agog with the current development. I couldn't even fathom how I was going to be able to walk around except if I to prove that it wasn't me in any of those clips he threatened to pull out. "You must be the most delusional person that I have ever met in my entire life. How do you think this is going to favor you in any way? You came here with the intention to threaten us to do what? Will the company to you?" Rain piped up. I wasn't even sure that he had any videos of me but coming from someone who was this desperate, had this sinister plan before I could even find out, nothing was impossible with him. Lucas threw his head backwards and began to laugh. "I wouldn't give out my trade secrets now would I? I came to make a proposition. It's either you return the shares you bought or I do exactly what I said. It doesn't take m

Chapter 117. Zyrielle's POV. "Wakey wakey, rise and shine my sweetheart we need to leave as soon as possible." Rain dragged my feet from under the bed making me grimace in mock anger. I definitely didn't mind whatever he wanted from me as long as it gave me peace. "I told you I had a meeting earlier today. Can we take some time before traveling?" I negotiated so that I could sleep in more. "Nope, because I know you don't have anywhere to go. Courtesy of Brenda who has informed me of your schedule beforehand. So what other excuse do you have?" He inquired, making me a bit worried. "Should I be worried about your stalkerish tendencies?" I grinned into the blanket refusing to show my face. He knew what he was doing and I also wanted to beat him at his game. "Yep... That's why I need you to stand and confront me about it. You cannot just allow me to get away with my stalkerish tendencies." He made quotes in the air. There was no winning with Rain. This man was a smooth neg

Lucas' POV.Cheryl entered my room with a small smile on her face and now I was stunned by this attitude. "Why do you have such a long face? Is anything the matter?" She inquired and I looked around to confirm if she was truly talking to me. "You're acting weird. What's with the newly found attitude? Why are you smiling so much?" I demanded from her. I had a lot of projects at hand and the last thing I wanted to get involved with was making sure that she dampened my mood the most. "Why don't you just keep calm for a minute?" She said, rocking on her feet. "I can't keep calm. I just want some answers from you. How far have you gone with Zyrielle?" "What suddenly makes her your friend? I thought that you wanted me never to talk to her in the first place." I replied. "You warned me categorically to stay away from her so why the useless questions?" She giggled softly before walking towards me. "That was because you refused to defend me in front of your family and watched me get ridic

Zyrielle's POV. That wasn't going to suffice. "Love doesn't cut it most times," I replied angrily before heaving a deep sigh so that I didn't come across as a problematic fellow. Not a lot of things required immediate action. Sometimes, it was good to leave a lot unsaid so that there weren't any worries."I guess what I'm trying to make you understand is that... I would like my opinions to be taken into consideration. I know that you love me. You might want to pay deeper attention to my needs. I just hate it when I'm not being heard." I flung my arms in the air.He rolled his eyes at my outburst, probably not seeing any sense in my complaints. Well, that was his business because I was going to state my points. "Lucas is trying to get under your skin and you are simply letting him. I know that you might try to deny his i

Zyrielle's POV."I'll be outside!" Brenda quipped before walking out of the office and slamming the door in an undignified manner. The room lulled, "What was he doing here?" Rain inquired from me. His nose flared in anger as the words poured out of his mouth. "I don't think you should care about that," I mumbled out. "Are you kidding me right now?" He inquired from me but that was the least of my worries. "You don't think that I would be worried about you? Worried about my nephew coming here after warning him not to? He could harm you!" He slammed his hand against my desk and I jumped. I fixed him with a blithe stare. "Do you want to kill me?" I inquired from him. "I could leave if you want to express your anger," I added before picking up my bags. It wasn't as though I had much inspiration anyway. "You going nowhere till we are done with this conversation."
