Tally’s heart stopped. He didn’t know her? She felt a wave of panic crash over her as she processed Ryan’s words. How could he not recognize her? They were married, shared a life together, and she was pregnant with their child. She tried to hide her hurt and confusion, desperately searching for an explanation.

“I’m Tally, your wife,” she managed to say, her voice trembling.

Ryan’s brow furrowed in confusion, his eyes filled with a look she couldn’t determine. “I’m sorry, I just... I don’t remember… you.”

Tally could feel tears welling up in her eyes again, but she fought to hold them back. She couldn’t break down now, not when Ryan needed her the most. She reached out and gently caressed his cheek, but he turned his head away from her hand.

“It’s okay, Ryan. I should have thought.” She whispered, her voice cracking. “I’ll go get your doctor. The doctors will help us.”

Brenda, who had been standing silently by their side, chimed in with a reassuring smile. “That’s right, Ryan. Tally is

Tally woke alone in a hospital bed. Confused and disoriented, she looked around the sterile hospital room. Then it all came back to her, the events leading up to her fainting spell. “Oh, my god. Please god, please don’t let it be a miscarriage.” The life inside her had been the one thing she could hold on to right now.As she lay there, the weight of the situation settled heavily on her shoulders once again. The thought of Ryan not remembering her, and now their unborn child, was almost unbearable. She felt a mix of fear, sadness, and hopelessness wash over her.Suddenly, the door to her room opened, and Doctor Monroe walked in. His calm presence brought a small sense of relief to Tally. He greeted her with a warm smile and sat down beside her bed.“How are you feeling?” he asked, concern evident in his voice.Tally answered honestly. “I’m scared.”The doctor nodded empathetically. “I won’t keep you waiting. Your baby is fine. But you are under a lot of stress and I would like you to s

Tally shifted towards the door and placed her bag on the chair. She then returned to his bed, feeling his eyes fixed on her every move.“What do you want to know?” Tally asked. Then, remembering, she added. “Nothing too personal until I speak to Dr. Monroe or Dr. Clark.”“Ashley didn’t mind sharing her views on our relationship,” Ryan let her know.Tally, even more angry, snorted. “Yeah, I’m sure. Let me guess. I’m a gold digger that tricked you into bed and used a pregnancy to get you to marry me?”When she saw his eyes reflect sorrow, Tally stopped remembering he still believed Ashley’s baby had been his. He still carried the weight of the miscarriage. But Tally was even more sure now that Ryan wasn’t the father. Also, she was playing into Ashley’s story. Because it was the theory she had accused Tally of the day she had married Ryan.Ryan eyed her. “She told me you faked the pregnancy, then faked the subsequent miscarriage? But I had already married you.”Why that little bitch. Tall

Ryan sat in the hospital bed, his eyes fixed on the door through which Tally had just exited the room. She hadn’t even bothered to turn around when he had called her name, instead muttering “Asshole” under her breath as she left. If she was attempting to impress him or prove Ashley’s claims false, she was failing miserably and doing a piss-poor job. A wry smile tugged at one corner of his mouth. He didn’t know if she was playing a smart game or not.Just as he anticipated his wife’s return, the door swung open. But it wasn’t Tally standing there. Instead, a hospital employee entered, carrying his less-than-appetizing lunch. Despite being in a private room, the quality of the hospital food sucked. The lady placed it on his table. “Thank you.” He said as she turned to leave the room.If he was being honest with himself, he was a little disappointed that Tally had left. Ryan wondered if that was a point in her favor.Ryan absentmindedly touched the bandage on his head. The thing was, he d

As Tally arrived at the house, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of detachment. It no longer felt like her home, but rather Ryan’s. She entered the quiet house and immediately went to take a long, soothing shower to wash away the stress of the day. After her shower, Tally laid down on the couch, feeling physically and emotionally drained. She closed her eyes and tried to clear her mind, but her phone buzzed with a message from Holly and Ethan, confirming they would see her in a few minutes. As Tally got up to let them in, her phone rang again. It was Ryan calling, but she ignored it. She wasn’t ready to confront him yet, still harboring resentment towards him for their current situation. She knew it wasn’t his fault but explain that to her feelings.Holly and Ethan arrived shortly after, bringing some much-needed energy and positivity into the house. They both hugged Tally before she walked them through to the kitchen. The food that they had brought smelled good.“How are you feeling,

It was only the next day they were to venture into the office. Ryan had offered to drive her. Tally had shaken her head. “We don’t do that.”He lifted an eyebrow at her. “Why?”“Because no one at the office knows about us being married.” Tally let him know, looking down at his hands.“Tally, look at me.” When she lifted his head. “Why?” he was suspicious of the fact that he had chosen not to tell anyone.Tally could see the look in his eyes. “It wasn’t your idea, but mine.”Ryan was surprised by this. “Then again, why?”Tally felt uncomfortable telling him the next bit. The old Ryan had known her history. This Ryan, with his missing memories, didn’t and he could see it in a different light now. “I was engaged just before we got married.”“Let me guess, I was the better catch, so when you saw your chance, you jumped at it.” Ryan's tone was cold again.“Not so you would guess, you arrogant ass. Get over yourself. The person you are now, I wouldn’t have picked you in a pink fit. See you a

Ryan didn’t come straight to their office. Tally wasn’t sure where he had got to.But before she could dwell on it too long, Ashley breezed into her office. “Where is Ryan?”“I have no idea.” Tally wasn’t Ryan’s keeper.Ashley gave a laugh. “Lost him already. But then you never really had him to start with.”“Listen Ashley, why don’t you just crawl back under the rock you crawled out from under?” Tally was shocked by her own tart remark and she could see that Ashley was as well. What did the bitch think? She would just sit here and take her shit. “Go now.”“Why, you little bitc...” Ashley startedBut Tally cut her off. “I’m pretty sure Ryan told you to cut out your attitude at the workplace. Even without his full memories, I don’t think his reaction would be any different and he doesn’t just need my word about it. I know a few staff would be happy to come forward.” Tally leaned over her desk, staring at Ashley. “You know what, this isn’t high school anymore and I don’t have time for yo

Tally looked up from the textbook she was reading when Ryan came through the front door.“Hello lover.” Tally knew the time was just after 1pm. She had only just eaten lunch, so it was early for Ryan to be home.Ryan stopped, raised an eyebrow in her direction. “Lover?”“Well, yes, are you hoping to get lucky before my husband gets home? You could be in luck.” Tally grinned at him, looking down at her bare wrist as if she was checking the time. “He doesn’t normally get home for hours.” This reminded her of teasing him at the office after they had had made love in an underground parking lot on the way to work.Ryan smirked, his eyes filled with a mischievous glint. “Well, if luck is on my side, then who am I to resist?” he replied, inching closer to Tally. Their playful banter had always added an exciting element to their relationship. As Tally playfully tapped her chin, pretending to consider the proposition. “Hmm, I’m not sure I should. Three weeks later Tally and Ryan, with their entourage, burst into the boardroom of Benson Developments, their presence commanding immediate attention. The room fell silent as every eye turned to them. Tally’s face was a blank mask. She was wearing a scarlet red skirt suit, which contrasts with the cold, sterile room. Ryan stood beside her, his tailored suit exuding authority, his jaw set in determination.Barry Benson, the current CEO, looked up from his seat at the head of the table, his face paling at the sight of them. John, who sat to her father’s right side, narrowed his eyes, clearly sensing the impending storm.“Barry,” Ryan begins, his voice cutting through the silence like a knife, “you’re fired.”Barry’s mouth opens and closes, but no sound comes out. During that week, they had invited a select few to come to their home on the weekend. Ryan’s parents, Paul and Brenda, were among those included in the guest list. They were overjoyed to see Tally and showered her with hugs and kisses upon their arrival. They were relieved that Ryan had regained his memories.Brenda also shared with Tally that Ashley’s parents were not handling their daughter’s actions well. It was apparent to everyone that they found it distasteful. As a result, Ashley was no longer welcome in their circle. Holly and Ethan were the next to arrive, closely followed by April. When Tally invited April, she gave her the heads-up that Noah had also been invited. Tally assured April that she would understand if she didn’t want to come because her husband would be there, but she secretly hoped that she would. April had devoted the last five years of her life to take care of her ailing father, leaving little time for herself.Noah was the last to arrive, and Tally wasn’t sure

“I heard enough,” Ryan replied with a smirk. “But Tally, your money isn’t important to me. I love you for who you are, not for your wealth. Give it to charity or save it for our children. I have enough for the both of us.” He eyed her for a moment before adding. “I know you have your reasons for wanting to buy your father’s company. Just promise me that you won’t let it consume you. Revenge can be a dangerous game.” Tally sighed and walked over to her husband, wrapping her arms around him, leaning back to look at his face. “I promise, Ryan. This is not about revenge for me. Well, maybe a little, but mostly it’s about protecting the people who work there, and making sure my father can’t continue to hurt anyone else. Money is just a means to an end. The money has sat there all this time. I only live on my wages paid by you, and now my inheritance is going to do some good.” Ryan nodded, understanding the determination in her eyes. As his arms circled her waist. “One thing I don’t unders

Ryan and Tally sat side by side at the breakfast table. Ryan sipped his coffee, which she was still missing. “You have coffee envy.” He grinned at her. “Oh, shut up.” Tally said in a huffy tone, as she drank her decaf tea. Ryan placed his free hand over her belly. “It’s for a good cause. You are growing our baby.” His phone beeped to let him know he had a message. Taking his hand from her stomach, he picked up his phone. “It’s from Noah. He sent me the link for the media release about Ashley and Blake.” He let her know. As they read the explosive media story that had broken overnight. The article was damning, detailing Ashley’s lies and deceit, and Blake’s infidelity in intricate detail. Ryan’s eyes scanned the text rapidly. Tally, on the other hand, took her time, letting the words sink in, feeling a strange mix of vindication and sorrow for those who would inevitably be hurt by the truth. Ryan handed her the phone so she could read it at her own pace. When he saw the look on her

Ryan took a few more minutes, his mind racing as the memories fully settled in. The realization of Tally’s pregnancy hit him like a brick wall, filling him with a mixture of joy and protective instinct. He finally moved the car back into traffic, gripping the steering wheel tightly as he navigated through the evening rush hour. Ryan relived the car accident that had caused him to lose his memory of his wife. Remembering that she was pregnant helped him understand why he might have erased her from his memory. Of course, this was just his own speculation, since he wasn’t a psychologist. Nonetheless, knowing that she was pregnant and unable to prevent the accident, he blamed himself for the collision. So, his subconscious mind had effectively removed the problem. Ryan thought that perhaps the recent near miss with another car, and his instinct to protect her by putting his arm across her body to save her, had triggered his memories to resurface. Now that he had his memories back, Ryan
