ROSALIND LIGHTWOOD★

I was still taken aback by Jeremy's silence regarding my reaction as I left his embrace that afternoon; it was clear he felt no anger as we went from place to place together.

"Where are we headed?" I asked, noticing the motorbike parked in front of the house, complete with two helmets.

He mounted the bike and grabbed a helmet, handing the other one to me with a confident smile.

"Hop on and trust me," he urged. It was getting late already, with a resigned sigh, I carefully climbed onto the bike and secured the helmet on my head.

He gently pulled my hands around his waist, and as he ignited the engine, we sped off to an unknown destination. The fresh breeze whipped against my skin, prompting me to tighten my grip around him, a mix of excitement and uncertainty coursing through me.

We pulled up to a sleek building where two men awaited his arrival, and as he engaged with them in fluent French, my curiosity piqued about the nature of their conversation.
