Chapter 6

Althea woke up the next morning, stretching out her limbs as she yawned slightly.

This is the best sleep she have had while in prison these past few days. Well, how else would she describe going to sleep without any form of disturbance from the inmates.

It's the best ever.

Opening her eyes, she got up only to notice the inmates returning back to their spaces with some glancing randomly at her but the red haired lady maintained a stern look at her.

She mentally rolled her eyes and pulled her legs up, bowing her head against her knees, ignoring whatever thing they could be saying.

Althea tried to figure out what the day is for she has lost count of the days since she arrived prison.

She thought for a while a sighed, recalling what day it actually is.

If she wasn't in prison, she would be at work right now, receiving her promotion.

The promotion she has always dreamt off, now it's happening but she isn't there.

It had taken her a whole lot of efforts to finally want to get promoted at work. Now she's being deprived of those privileges.

She buried herself in deep thoughts, thinking about the path she choose for herself.

Her thoughts were interrupted when when an announcement was made on the intercom.

She stood up and joined the inmates who were already on a straightline, raising her hands over her head.

Soon, the wardens showed up and unlocked the cell. They matched forward with the wardens guarding.

They were led the prison cafeteria and Althea waited untill it got to her turn. Taking her meal from the prison chef, she irked in disgust.

The meal itself looks unappetizing and this is what she has been eating for days now and she has grown pretty tired of it, but what can she do?

Absolutely nothing. She missed her old life and she wants it back but there's no way she could get it back.

Everything sucks! Prison sucks!! The meal sucks as well.!!!

She walked to a random spot and sat, staring at the meal in pure irritation.

She looked at the other inmates and watched as the devoured the meal like it was their last meal on planet Earth.

They must have grown used to living such isolated life. They looked happy and carefree, not even the least bothered, more like, the prison was their home.

She dipped her spoon into the Rice, scooped some quantity and ate. She felt nauseous absorbing the taste of the Rice.

It was tasteless and sour. How on earth will she get used to this lifestyle?

Just as she was about to scoop the second spoon, her meal was knocked over suddenly, making the rice spill over.

Althea was startled at first but when she looked up, her countenance changed drastically.

The red haired lady smirked wickedly and Althea needed no soothe sayer to say that the actions were done intentionally.

As if that wasn't enough, she salivated on the spilled Rice on the floor.

"Oops! Sorry... I honestly thought that was the refuse dump. But, I get you might be really hungry as we only get to eat one meal per day. Feel free to eat on the floor...."

She leaned closer, the smirk on her lips not faltering.

"That's where murderers like you deserve to be!" She said.

Althea clenched get fists tightly, slowly getting aggravated by their actions. They won't stop tormenting her, no matter what!

She inhaled deeply, holding back herself not to react and give them what they want. It's obvious they want her to fight back, but she'd listen to Warden Zheng's advice and avoid them.

Although, she was starving! Now her meal has been ruined, she won't be able to get any until the next day. That is the more reason why prison life sucks real bad.

You get to live with inmates who are mentally unstable, or extremely frustrated and only pours out their vexation on others.

She stood up, placed the spoon on the table and walked away, ignoring the barbaric individuals out to frustrate her.

She was almost at the door but halted on her steps and turned around when something caught her attention.

She fixed her eyes at the large TV screen, her brows creasing into a deep frown as she watched Oscar host a press conference.

Her heart sank just by staring at him. He looked ravishing as always... This man used to be the love of her life, not until now.

She listened to his speech and the questions being thrown at him. She did not only feel angered, she felt hurt that he still had the guts to say she attempted to murder Katie Rolland.

He said she was a countryside woman and she was jealous. How dare he? How dare he cook up such lies.

By clearing his own name, he's painting her black. He's making everyone believed she truly murdered Katie.

How dare he do this to her? How dare he abandon her in prison? How dare he lie to her?

How dare he trick her? Of course, it's all her fault for blindly loving and trusting him!

Althea felt so angry as everything dawned on her. Realization struck her with a full force. The truth she has been trying to deny, it's now out in the open.

How can she still trust him after watching his press conference? only a fool would still want to love and trust such a despicable man as Oscar.

Its clear now that Oscar had used her like garbage and dumped her only where garbages are.

Althea's eyes were red as she stared at the TV screen with pure hate and disgust. She felt like going into the TV screen right now and giving him a heavy blow on his face.

"I hate you Oscar Williams!! You broke my trust! You lied to me!! You ruined me!! You ruined my entire life... I hate you!!!" She yelled out loud, gripping her clothes tightly.

Everyone's attention turned towards her but that was the least of her problems, she turned and ran off with a heavy heart.
