Chapter 5: Deal

Alpha King Uthar greeted Alpha King Rogan at the front of the pack house with a nervous laugh, “I'm sorry about Nina, she's still young at heart and is yet to see the world” he said. If Nina had been here, Uthar wouldn't have thought twice about punishing her for embarrassing him in front of Rogan. He didn't expect her to try to run away.

“It's alright, she's an interesting little mate” Rogan commented with a slight smile. He was intrigued by her twelve years ago and she still captured his interest twelve years later with her persistence on freedom. But adding to the fact that she was his mate, he wasn't going to acquiesce to her request anytime soon.

Alpha king Uthar could of course not miss the smile on Rogan's face, “Mate? She's your true mate?” he asked in shock. To think that that useless girl was Rogan's mate, if he had known he would have been more hospitable to her. He could guess that was why Rogan was interested in her all those years ago.

“Yes. Anyway, our deal has finally been completed and the pack lands officially belong to you. As for the rogues, we have not heard of them in years, it's like they vanished into thin air which is very strange” Rogan said with a little frown. The rogue issue bothered him, his instincts told him that the threat wasn't completely gone and that was what he feared. He had sent scouts to go beyond the woods and search for any signs of rogues and they came back with nothing. Where could they have disappeared with no trace or scent?

“We, unfortunately, can't do much at the moment except wait, but we will continue to improve our warriors and arms so that we can be ready at all times,” Alpha King Uthar said. With the traumatic war years ago, Uthar dreaded a repeat of that again, he could only wish they never come back again.

“Yeah, you are right. I'll be taking my leave now” Alpha King Rogan said. They exchanged farewells and Rogan returned to his pack.

He walked into the pack house and went up to check up on Nina but when he arrived at his room he met Luke and Nina arguing.

“What's going on here?” He asked in a sharp tone that shut them up quickly.

“I brought Nina to your room and she refuses to settle in,” Luke explained.

“I told you before, you don't own me and I don't want to stay here. I was brought here against my wish and I will definitely not be settling in the same room with you” Nina ranted out, frustratedly.

Rogan's eyebrows raised at her stubbornness. He was well aware of his looks, no woman had ever rejected him instead they were ready to throw themselves at him at any given opportunity. But Nina was different, she knew she was his mate and was still so adamant about leaving. He was confused that he couldn't understand her.

“Luke, leave!” Rogan ordered.

“Yes, Alpha king” Luke responded and left immediately.

Rogan walked up to the door, shut it and locked it, then he looked at a terrified Nina.

“Wh…what are y..you doing?” Nina stammered, her eyes widened in fear.

Rogan didn't respond, instead, he prowled towards her like a predator approaching his prey. The closer he came the further Nina went, she kept backing up till her back hit the wall.

“D…Don't come a..any close..er” Nina warned but Rogan ignored her. He only stopped when he was a few inches away from her. He breathed in her intoxicating scent, their proximity caused Nina to freeze on the spot.

He brought his mouth to her ear and asked, “Can you feel that?” his husky voice caused her to feel butterflies and her legs jelly. He chuckled seeing her reaction, he was pleased to see that the mate bond affected her just as much as him.

Nina, seeing him chuckle, regained her senses and attempted to push him away but before her hands reached him, he caught them and pinned them on the wall above her head.

Nina gasped with wide eyes and Rogan said, “Tsk tsk tsk… such a stubborn little mate. I'll have to teach you a lesson so you understand never to resist me”

“Please let me go… please” Nina pleaded, a little scared and admittedly a little turned on. No man had come this close to her before and it made her feel vulnerable.

“Why should I let you go? You are my mate after all, how long do you think you can resist me?” Rogan asked. He felt challenged that such a little girl could resist his charms when other women would kill him to be his mate. He wanted to break her and make her submit, only then can he assert his dominance.

Nina didn't answer, she continued to look at him defiantly like her decision wouldn't change no matter what he did but inside she was a mess, the proximity was making her feel things that she didn't want to feel.

Just then a knock came from the other side of the door and a woman's voice could be heard. “Alpha King Rogan, sorry to disturb you but your attention is needed”

Nina stopped herself from sighing in relief, she was saved by the door at a timely moment.

Rogan released her hands and said loudly, “I'll be right out in a minute” Then he eyed Nina and said, “Consider yourself lucky today. You are not allowed to leave this room, this is your room from now on and that's an order. Disobey me if you are curious about what I can do” He said in a firm voice before storming out.

Nina let out a breath that she didn't know she was holding and slid to the ground to relax her tensed nerves. Resisting and fighting him for her freedom was going to be even harder than she thought.
