Chapter 4: You are my mate

Nina's heart hammered wildly in her chest as if it would fly out any moment, she couldn't form words even after Alpha King Rogan got up from her, his naked form in all its glory.

“Luke! My clothes” Rogan ordered.

A boyish man with sandy blonde hair walked up to Rogan and gave him his clothes. He sent Nina an empathetic look that jolted her awake and she got up to her feet as well. Her face unconsciously flared up in embarrassment as she saw Rogan put on his clothes. She faced the ground instead like there was something interesting to look at there.

“There's no need to feel shy, mate. You will be seeing this a lot more often. Luke, take her back to the pack. I will join you guys in a few minutes, I need to discuss some things with Alpha King Uthar” Rogan instructed.

Luke was about to say something when Nina cut it sharply, “No, I will follow you to your pack. I don't want to be a breeder for you” she said with crossed arms and a frown.

Rogan looked at her and smirked, “That's not your choice to make, kid, you are mine and I make the decisions for you” his tone was commanding like an alpha.

Nina fumed even more and her frown deepened when she heard him, “I am not a property that you can own. I don't want to live my whole life doing your bidding so please just leave me alone” Her voice raised a bit towards the end to show how angry she was. She always craved to be with her mate but what was the point of having a mate if he was going to be so controlling and unreasonable? She didn't want to be caged all her life making babies for a heartless man, she would rather be free without a mate.

Rogan growled lowly, his eyes flashed dangerously as he walked closer to her. His towering figure made Nina shiver trying to stay bold, He pulled her head up with his two fingers under her chin forcing her to meet his eyes. Then he said, “Never raise your voice at me. Like I said before, You are mine and you have no right to object to me. If you think you can run away from me then please be my guest but think about the punishment afterwards too when I catch you. Now, you will follow Luke to the pack and wait for my arrival like a good girl, understood?”

“Yes,” She blurted out involuntarily. An Alpha's command can not be refuted. A stray tear slid down her cheeks as Rogan removed his fingers from her chin harshly. He patted her hair before leaving Luke to do the rest, as soon as he left, Nina knelt down helplessly and let out the dam of tears that translated from her anger and helplessness.

Luke came to her side and watched her cry in pity, he attempted to place his hand on her back to comfort her but stopped and withdrew his hand. “It is futile to escape now, the king still has eyes on you. Why don't you wait till he is relaxed before running away?” he suddenly spoke up when her sobbing had calmed down.

Nina raised her head to look at him with wide eyes making Luke chuckle, “Hi, I'm Luke, the Alpha's cousin”

“Nina” she reluctantly spoke up. If not for Luke's hazel eyes that seemed warm and inviting, she would have thought Luke was playing with her.

“Come on, we can talk on our way to the pack. Alpha king Rogan will not be happy to still see you here” Luke turned around and began to walk away.

Nina hesitated, she looked at the forest that was only a step away and Luke who was walking away. She was in a dilemma, should she still run away into the forest or should she listen to Luke?

Alpha king Rogan owned most of the region and had a monstrous army that could wipe out any surrounding pack, finding a little omega wolf in the forest would cost little effort.

“If you think you can run away from me then please be my guest but think about the punishment afterwards too when I catch you” Nina remembered Rogan's words and the cold glint in his eyes that sent shivers down her spine. She wondered what kind of punishment he had in mind but she didn't want to experience it either. Perhaps Luke was right, she could plan her escape slowly and do it when the alpha king was least expecting.

“Wait up!” Nina called out when she saw that Luke was far ahead, he was as if he knew she would listen to him.

She ran to catch up to him and out of breath, she asked, “You are the Alpha's cousin, why are you helping me?”

“I can't turn a blind eye to abuse even if the abuser is my family, plus you are beautiful and smart, it would be a waste to leave you in the hands of the Alpha” Luke said and smiled.

Nina scrutinized him and when she could only see genuine care in his eyes, she relaxed and said, “So, what's the plan?”

“The plan, little Nina, is to keep up with your resistance. Keep fighting the Alpha king for your freedom, he will get tired of you eventually and let you go” Luke said. They were now in front of the Alpha King Uthar's pack where a red Ferrari car was parked. Luke opened the car door and gestured for Nina to go in.

Nina looked at the pack that she had grown in for so many years, she felt no attachment to it because she had no good memories to tug at her heart. She couldn't even deny the relief she felt to finally leave the pack even though she was unaware of the life that awaited her in her mate's pack.

She sighed and got into the car, “Are you sure the plan will work?” she asked Luke.

“Only one way to find out” Luke winked and shut the door.
