Chapter 3: Peace treaty

Nina gulped nervously as she made her way to the pack house where she would be meeting Alpha King Rogan. She was dressed beautifully like a princess but her mind was distant.

Her heart was in pain even though her much-awaited eighteenth birthday was here, all she could think of was her boring caged life with Alpha King Rogan.

If the unmated female wolves knew what she was thinking, they would definitely cough up blood in anger. They would all kill to be in her position but here she was feeling miserable about it.

Forget about being the Luna, they would be willing to bear the Alpha's babies for free.

“You may go in, Alpha King Uthar is inside and Alpha King Rogan is on his way” Ms. Clara said with a smile at Nina as they arrived at the entrance of the hall.

Ms. Clara's kind attitude was in sharp contrast to the woman Nina had known for years as a wicked and heartless witch.

The other day, she mocked Nina and asked if she thought she was a queen but here she was now, treating Nina like a queen because of her affiliation with Alpha King Rogan. Nina was surprised by her two-faced character.

“Uhmm, Ms. Clara, I want to use the restroom first before going in,” Nina said. She prayed in her mind that Ms. Clara wouldn't object.

“Sure sure, let me go with you” Ms Clara said with a beaming smile.

“No, don't worry. The restroom is just down there. You can go, you must be busy supervising the maids, I don't want to keep you” Nina dismissed her hastily while shading her too.

Ms Clara played a role in making her life miserable while growing up. She would make her do the hardest chores and would punish her twice as hard, Nina always wondered why the woman was so cruel towards her but she never found out why.

The other girls didn't make her feel any better because they bullied and treated her even worse than a maid. To them, Nina had no sympathy because they never helped her in any way and wouldn't hesitate to throw her under the bus in any situation.

She felt relieved to be out of their hair now and reach, now they would only look at her with jealousy if they were in her shoes.

“Oh...alright then,” Ms Clara said, her ears a little red in shame. She left immediately and Nina pretended to head to the restroom but rushed to look around and make sure nobody was close by.

Nina lied about using the restroom, she wanted to run away from the pack. After thinking about it thoroughly, she decided that couldn't just accept her screwed fate, she would run away and start afresh.

After confirming that the coast was clear, Nina tried to call out her wolf; she would run faster if she shifted. But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't shift. That was one of the problems with Omegas, they were too weak to shift and their wolves were very unreliable.

“I guess I'll be running with legs then” Nina huffed to herself frustratedly. Since her first shift two years ago, she hasn't been able to shift no matter how much she tried. She didn't like how weak her body was.

Nina took off running as fast as she could, she avoided people and ran in the direction of the forest. She had no idea where she was going but her main priority now was making sure that Alpha King Rogan did not take her away.

After running for fifteen minutes, she breathed in relief to finally see the forest in sight. She couldn't help but light up in hope that her escape was going to be successful.

Just when she was a few meters away from the tall trees of the forest, she heard a fierce growl behind her that made her shiver. Her heart dropped in trepidation at the thought of being caught when her escape plan was so close to success.

She adamantly refused to look back to find the source of the growl, instead, she trudged on even faster, afraid that a second delay would deliver her into the hands of the person she was running from.

The growl got even louder and the source was gaining in on her but she didn't stop. Just when she was a step away from the seemingly enticing forest, she felt a jerk that pulled her to the ground, she fell with a thud and a huge jet-black wolf landed on her.

Nina let out a scream with her eyes sealed shut and thrashed wildly, but she couldn't budge, the wolf was too strong.

Cracking of bones could be heard and the wolf shifted to a man with an imposing figure, his hair was jet-black and fell just above his shoulders. His muscular body held Nina down effortlessly, it was like a mountain compared to a small wooden boat.

“Hello little reward, trying to run away from me?”

Nina's eyes opened unconsciously to meet the striking cobalt-blue eyes of Alpha King Rogan, her breath hitched to see such a handsome face with hypnotic eyes. She couldn't even control the word, “Mate” that fell off her lips as she stared at him.

Her eyes widened a second later in shock at the revelation. What kind of game was the moon goddess playing? The person Nina was running away from was the mate she had always dreamt of meeting.

She wished in her head that this would just turn out to be a bad dream but the feeling of the bond reminded her that it was real.

The cruelest Alpha in the region who didn't care about love and only wanted a breeder turned out to be Nina's mate, the one person who was supposed to love her with affection.

Nina didn't need anyone to tell her that she was doomed.
