Chapter 02

"Mother fucker!”

Mother fucker, indeed.

I dropped my arm immediately as I stared at Kyle, sheer horror gripping me.

What does he mean by mate?

Surely not what I think because - that cannot be. Maybe I heard him wrongly.

I cannot, will not be mated to my foe.

To my target.

“So she really is your mate then?” The lady asked and Kyle just smiled with a shrug.

“Can feel it in my head so yes, I believe she is.”

“This is very interesting. How do you think Caius and Dahlia would react?”

Kyle shrugged nonchalantly, “I have no idea but we will find out. I did not tell them about the anonymous tip - I just wanted to confirm first.”

I had no idea what they were talking about and I couldn't ask.

Hell I was too frozen by shock to even move an inch let alone say a word.

“Let's go home first.”

The lady nodded and went at the driver's speed. My head was still buzzing with a million questions as I felt the car moving away.

I know what mating means. I have dedicated a fair portion of my life into researching and reading about Werewolves. The first ones at least, how they reproduce and every other thing.

I know that a wolf's mate means a life bond that one cannot get out from and they mate for life.

I know that it's the strongest force in the universe and one cannot control or will it.

But never did I imagine that these ones would have that ability.

Wow, the scientists really did a very good job.

I shivered again, not from the cold air in the car, but from the sense of doom as I wondered what this could possibly mean.

How would uncle Kiaz react?

What would this even mean for me? My mission? The mission that I had swore I would not let anything stop me from achieving?

I squared my shoulders stubbornly, and leaned back on the chair.

Wolf bond or whatever be fucking damned. Nothing is going to stop me from achieving my mission.

They murdered my parents and I swore by my parent's grave that I am going to be their end.

Not even the strongest force on earth can stop me from that.

But even as I tried to relax my mind, it was still a turmoil of different things when the car drove Into a mansion and parked.

We got out of the car, and I leaned away before Kykw could grab my hand.

“This is definitely going to be a very interesting game.” The lady giggled and walked into the house.

We silently followed her. The only reason I wasn't gawking at the magnificent mansion was because I have seen it numerous times before.

I do recall the first time I set my eyes on it. I recall wonderingly how demons could reside in heaven.

As we walked through the open door, there were several men in the sitting room just laying around and discussing.

Their talks and laughter died down when they saw us walk in.

“You guys are never going to believe what happened.” The lady said, spreading her arms with a laugh.

“What happened?’ someone asked from the stairs and I looked up to see - Don Caius, the country's most famous mafia coming down with his wife and their teenage daughter behind him.

Don was a wolf himself although he was what my uncle called a half breed.

When he was fifteen he was kidnapped by a group of mad scientists and experimented on.

He was only a half success - half failure because despite his advanced abilities thanks to the artificial wolf's DNA in his blood he was still incapable of shifting to a wolf like they wanted.

But then years later, they assembled and kidnapped more kids.

Don Caius had gotten the news and went to rescue them, but by the time he did - it was too late. Their experiment was already a success, and they had fulfilled their goals.

To re-create Werewolves artificially even though the species went extinct centuries ago.

But their joy was short lived, because the Don striked and rescued the kids, raising him as his own. Now they have grown all up under his watch.

My fists clenched as anger settled into my mind.

He knew the danger that posed yet he chose to be an okay dad for them.

He should have burnt them all, but no he didn't!

And those damn scientists - greedy idiots. If they weren't dead, I'd have killed them myself right then.

“Hi Caius.” Kyle greeted and shot the lady a warning glare.

The teen, who remembered her name was Amaya ran into Kyle's arms excitedly grinning.

“I've missed you Kyle. We never finished our session.”

Kuled hugged her back smiling, and ruffled her dark hair, “Missed you too wild fire. Now run along, the adults want to talk.”

The girl pouted, crossing her arms, “I'm not kid.”

“To us you will always be,” Caius scolded, “Go Maya. We all know that your mother will be coming to gist you soon.”

The girl chuckled and left the room with no further protest.

The rest of the room shifted their gaze on me, and I shifted uncomfortably under the intensity of their questioning stare.

“Who's she, Kyle? And what exactly happened?” Caius asked calmly.

“Okay, here's the thing. This is - Amara. She's my mate.”

Silence.

That was what followed his words. Nobody moved, I guess just like me everyone was shocked to say a word.

Caius frowned, and looked at me before turning to Kyle who really looked uncomfortable.

“Oh my,” it was Dahlia who broke the stretching silence, “ this is definitely a shock but a good news regardless. You've got a mate!”

She wrapped Kyle in a hug although her husband and every one else in the room still looked shocked.

She turned to me, maybe just trying her best to cool off the tension.

“Hello Amara. My name is Dahlia and it's so wonderful to have you. Welcome to the family.”

Family?

I almost scoffed in disgust.

This is no family and definitely no family of mine.

Never.

But I smiled shyly, staying in character as I murmured, “Thank you.”

“Come on, we will let the boys figure themselves out. You look tired and need to rest.”

I glanced around the room, feeling the tension that was so thick you could almost cut through it with a blade.

Then with a sigh I followed Dahlia who led me upstairs to a room she called the guest room.

“There's a shower in there. Please take a good bath and just - rest. I'll check in on you later for a talk.”

With that she left.

Dahlia..

Like me she was a human and like me she has lost her orphan.

What exactly was she doing with these beasts?

I looked around the room and took a moment to congratulate myself.

I'm just where I'm supposed to be.

Phase 1 ✓✓ complete with just a little glitch.

I chuckled.

Just a little?

Dammit I need to speak to my uncle.

I went into the shower, making sure I locked it before digging out phone I had hidden in my boot

Then I went to the group I shared with my uncle and cousin and sent a message.

/RED ALERT! I am Kyle's mate/

Two seconds later, my cousin replied.

/Holy fuck/

I chuckled because - holy fuck indeed. But that wasn't what I needed.

I need answers, solutions. I need to get the situation under control else everything we have worked for, in years will be ruined because of some stupid bond.

My uncle's response came next.

/As much as I know just how shocking this might be, maintain maximum focus Amara. You are stronger than you think and you can do this./

I smiled, and was about to respond when he sent another text

/And remember what I taught you. How to make use of every bad twist. This is uncool but look on the bright side - you are now mated to their leader.

That means you are more inside than we initially planned. Take advantage of that, infiltrate them. Make him love and trust you for what we need./

I have never thought of it that way.

/Thanks uncle Kiaz./

I switched off the phone and sighed.

He was right.

Maximum focus on the goal needed.

I might be mated to the devil, - my enemy - but I will make use of this, to get closer to them that I initially imagined.

Nothing will stop me from destroying these demons.

And I will see to that.

Even if it means losing my life in the process.

Even if it means sleeping with the devil himself.
