MIDNIGHT MEAL

I ended up sleeping for almost a whole day, by the time I woke up, it was past almost midnight. Gavrael was in bed with me, and as I stirred, he woke up too.

“You scared me for a second there, mate.” He spoke as he nuzzled my neck.

“You fell asleep so suddenly that if it wasn’t for the steady beat of your heart, I would have thought you died.”

“I’m a bit harder to kill than that.” I chuckled.

My stomach chose that moment to rumble and it was Gavrael’s turn to chuckle.

“It seems I need to feed you.”

Then it was his stomach that rumbled next and I laughed. We got out of bed and moved through the silent house to the kitchen. We were the only ones awake by this time and I had to admit that I like it being just the two of us, no noise, no pack mates needing attention, no trouble to solve. Since shifters had a big appetite, there was always food available in the kitchen. We may be alone now, but someone else might have already woken up to eat and left or would wake up later to have
