Who remembers the volcano legend?
ADAIRA ~ I ached all over. I never expected to feel pain in the afterlife. Or is this some sort of punishment for indirectly taking my own life when it wasn’t my time to die yet? But if this was punishment, I doubt it would feel like this. It was dark, but I was lying on something soft, and I wasn’t cold anymore, I felt really warm. Maybe my punishment came with a little leniency because of how shitty my life had been before I died. But why was it so dark? “It’s so dark because your eyes are closed.Open your eyes, mate.” A male voice chuckled with amusement. My eyes snapped open of their own accord and then widened in horror as I sat up and looked around. I was in a room, and I immediately noted that we had moved from the Brookstone pack because of the room’s decor and furnishing. The Brookstone pack house had one colour theme and most of the furnishings were elegant but ancient . This room was designed to be tastefully modern. The room wasn’t the reason for my terror, it was the
ADAIRA~My claws were just a second away from slicing off his neck when he vanished and materialised behind me. He grabbed my hair and bent me over the bedside drawer with my hands pinned behind my back. How on earth does he move so fast? My best quality as a warrior was my speed, yet, Gavrael moved faster than my eyes could even follow. Though, to be fair to myself, his teleportation power gave him an unfair advantage over me. I reared back and tried to headbutt him with the back of my head but he easily deflected that by controlling my head with the fist he had in my hair.“It’s amusing how you always try to kill me whenever you get the chance to do so even when you know that you can’t kill me.” Gavrael chuckled as I struggled to free myself.I was fighting with all my strength but he held me like it didn’t even take any conscious effort on his part to keep me held down. It was like I was just a toothpick he was holding and could easily break if he chose to.“Because you deserve to
GAVRAEL~The battle against the Grenshaw pack lasted for less than an hour and I howled in victory. The rage I had been feeling and the bloodlust were not completely sated because most of them were still alive but it would do for now. I let Adaira feel what I was feeling while the battle raged on, even let her see flashes of the fight but I blocked her out before she could see that I didn’t destroy them all, I wanted it to be a surprise. I left instructions for my wolves to get the Grenshaw pack ready for me, Adaira preferred it here so I would bring her here when she was more agreeable. I teleported back to the Brookstone pack and took a cold shower. With my adrenaline up and the thrill of the battle, I wanted nothing more than to fuck Adaira till we both passed out. But I could feel her sorrow, and grief so I restrained myself. Instead, I got her something to eat and teleported to her cell.“Time for dinner, I brought you something to eat.” I said as I stood outside the cell and sh
GAVRAEL~Adaira stirred against me, and I immediately woke up just in case she needed something. I nearly laughed as she wondered if she was dead and why everywhere was so dark.“It’s so dark because your eyes are closed. Open your eyes, mate.” I said with a chuckle. She opened her eyes but she still wasn’t sure if she was alive.“I assure you, mate, you’re very much alive. I told you that not even death itself could steal you from me, you’re mine.” I said to her.She tried to speak but her throat was too dry, so I got water for her to drink. After a few seconds, she spoke.“Death wasn’t trying to steal me, I was calling it. You shouldn’t have saved me.”“I assumed you were just trying to be stubborn and not eat in order to force my hand and have your way, and what happened was just a mistake. I noticed some pieces of food missing from the trays I brought to you and thought you were secretly feeding yourself, hoping I wouldn’t notice.”“Any food missing was taken by the rodents I sha
ADAIRA~Being locked inside the room seemed to be worse than being in a cell. I was restless, and I kept pacing around the room. I wanted to go outside, check on the members of the Grenshaw pack, see who was still alive and who wasn’t, join them to mourn the dead members of the pack, then see if I can find a weakness in Gavrael’s tight security. Another thing that worried me is the mate bond I shared with Gavrael that was strong enough to let him hear my thoughts. If I ever want to keep anything secret from him, I need to learn how to make my mental block stronger. So I practised, it’s not like I had any other thing to do in the room anyway. When it was time for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, Gavrael no longer brought me food, he sent one of the teenagers from the Grenshaw pack to do it instead. The first time she had come into the room, I rushed to her and wrapped my arms around her. I noticed she was shaking and assumed she was crying because she was happy to see me, but as I pulled
ADAIRA~I was puzzled at her declaration. Guests? Which pack would be stupid enough to come visit Gavrael’s recently conquered domain? Or are there more hybrids like him? Are those the people he invited?“Which guests?” I asked Tamika even though I knew that she wasn’t permitted to answer my questions. To my surprise, she actually answered me, and that was the first thing that let me know that something was wrong. Warning bells were flashing in my head even before she said the first word.“The master sent out word to all the other packs and offered mercy only to those who would surrender their packs to him. Any Alpha who was willing to serve him would be spared from death and would hand over authority of their packs to the master. Anyone who refused and decided to defend their packs instead would be killed and their packs would be invaded and destroyed. The Alphas who agreed to serve the master were to come today. The master promised to throw them all a feast and they would swear the
ADAIRA ~ Tamika nearly had a heart attack as he appeared and I had to hold her so she wouldn’t fall. After so many days, he finally decided to come talk to me. I was about to tell him this when Tamika fell to the floor on her knees with her head bent. “Welcome, m.master.” She stuttered. She was shaking, and I could smell her fear. Gavrael could smell it too, and it made him smile. His curly brown hair that was usually tied was loose today and it fell around his face, stopping below his ear and nearly touching his shoulder. Even with his red eyes, he looked unbelievably good and I turned away when I felt my body reacting to his closeness. “So this is what you want? People kneeling and cowering at your feet, reeking of fear. Should I bow too?” I said to him. “You don’t look happy to see me, mate.” He said and I felt him walk closer till he was standing right behind me. “Why should I be happy to see you? Being around you usually means something will go wrong for me, and when you’re
ADAIRA ~ He took my hand and we both materialised at the pack centre where special events, mating ceremonies, and feasts like these were usually held. There was a huge bonfire in the middle, with seats arranged around it for the guests and Gavrael’s rogues. The members of the Grenshaw pack that I could see were standing around the tables, some serving drinks, some serving food, others taking away used items. The drums and instruments had been arranged at the side, and some shifters from the Grenshaw pack were playing. I was surprised to see some members of the Brookstone pack serving as well, which meant that Gavrael brought them all here so they could be slaves too. The number of them that I could see wasn’t the entire pack, so the rest were either dead or in cells. As we walked forward, the drums beat louder, the rogues hooted and cheered on their feet, the guests stood and bowed while those serving went on their knees with their heads bent low. My heart ached to see them reduced
