ALANNAH Chapter Three

*CONNOR*

It’s very lively on the ship. I had decided to blow off some steam. I wasn’t even supposed to be traveling on the ship, but, I didn’t want to travel by air, I wanted to travel alone because I didn’t want to be on the radar. I sighed after taking a shot and had noticed a girl staring at me from my corner.

Taking one glance at her before puffing my cigarette. I’d sworn not to look at her the second time but I could feel her gaze on me, almost like she was piercing through me with her eyes. I took another glance. This time, taking my time to suck in a few details. Her shirt was too white to ignore, yet rough. She'd knotted the edges of her shirt which left her navel naked. Her Jeans were short, barely covering half of her thighs. Her dark, brown hair looked a mess, covering her face slightly.

I knew I’d been staring for too long but I just couldn't help it. Lucky for me, She was staring right back too. She slowly readjusted the hair on her cheekbone and gave me a welcoming look as if to say; hi.

Just then, I turned to take another puff. One long final puff before putting out the cigarette and walking up to my mysterious admirer. ,

I turned towards her once more but couldn’t find her anymore, I was about looking away when I sighted a girl struggling between five hefty men, She was circled and appeared to be in trouble.

Shoveling my way through and eventually getting to where they are. My God, I’ve always hated bullies.

"You lying whore", one of the men snarled at her. "You promised to pay us once we get you on board" he added.

"Perhaps we should make you pay with other things" said another while the others growled and laughed.

"Step away from her” I said in my deep baritone. “And who are you?” One of the men asked.

The girl in distress had looked up to see who was coming to her aid and she seemed shocked. I saw this and only offered a slight Smirk.

“Someone who doesn’t like bullies” I replied, Staring at the one who’d asked about my identity.

"This doesn't concern you", said another with a husky voice.

Letting out a very sarcastic smile I said, "Anyone ever told you you sound exactly like your look"?

“Are you calling me fat?” The man sneered, as he dropped the girl's shoulder and took a step forward.

“I didn’t, you just did” I answered, Smiling sarcastically.

One of the gang was about pulling me, but I was done being sarcastic and not having it anymore, I had landed a really painful punch on his face, breaking his nose, before another thought of throwing a punch at me, I dodged and hit him on his back, knocking him out.

The girl could only stand and stare in awe. It all ended with me knocking the whole gang out.

I adjusted my Jacket as I turned to face the girl. "I hate bullies", I muttered.

“Thank you” she muttered back.

“Hmm mm” I said, walking away. I really wasn’t in the mood to talk much, it seemed like I had exhausted my talking bundles with the gang.

“Really, I don’t know what I would’ve done if you hadn’t come at the right time so, thank you again” The girl continued.

Sighing, I turned to give her a “you’re welcome". Then I noticed she was shivering, it wasn’t really cold, it’s probably from the shock, she hadn’t fully registered what had happened back there, I guessed.

“What’s your name?” She asked.

“Connor” I replied, pulling off my jacket. “Here, you’re shivering” I continued. Offering her my jacket.

“Thanks, but, I’m good. I don't accept things from people. Especially handsome men", she said.

I was almost taken aback. “That’s one way to call a guy “Handsome”” I thought. “Well, that's okay". I managed to say. "What's your name"?

She took a quick glance at me, hesitated then answered.

“I’m Alannah". She answered, Offering an handshake. “Okay, Alannah, do you mind if I-----"

"I'm sorry, I gotta go", she cut in. "Thanks again, bye". Before I could say anything else, she was gone.

I walked out, smoking and staring at the tide. I became really interested in the girl back there, there’s something I might’ve noticed about her, She seemed pretty shy and looked quite innocent. She doesn't seem like violent type so I couldn't really guess what got her in trouble with those five guys. She hadn't given me a chance to ask either.

Pulling out my phone to make a call. “Hello” the voice on the other end answered.

“Andre” I called. “I need you to do something for me, I want you to find out and tell me about one Alannah” I said

Andre is one of my workers and absolutely the only one I can trust with getting information and keeping tabs on this girl.

“There are millions of Alannah in the whole world, anything significant about her? A description at least?” Andre asked.

“Uhm, Brunette, not so tall, like a Five foot six, freckles. Will that help?” I answered.

“It should, I’m working on it right now, I’ll call you back when I get something” Andre replied.

“Okay” I said and hung up.

Walking back in, halfway through the hall, walking down where my room is supposed to be, I could’ve sworn I heard slight sobs. I was going to find out where it was coming from, after all, I’ve been having trouble sleeping and going back inside my room would mean hours and hours of tossing and turning, I thought to myself. Walking down, tracing where the sobs were coming from, I got to a door, a very small door and had managed to open it without making any sound at all, I peeked and saw a figure, sitting with its heads down and sobbing, I sought to scan the room and a white substance scattered on the table caught my gaze, those are drugs, I said to myself and just when I wanted to go in and maybe talk to it, my phone rang. “Ring ring ring” came from the phone. “Shit” I muttered. Closing the door and walking as fast as my legs could carry me back to my room.

“Andre?” I called, answering the call. “I got all the information you need, Boss” Andre said.

“Okay, Share” I replied, setting the phone on speaker and pulling my clothes off.
