**CONNOR’S POV**
“Alannah Campbell, Orphaned since she was Eight, her parents had died in a car accident and her uncle took custody since then, She celebrated her Twenty-First birthday Five days ago, actually, I don’t know if she actually Celebrated it” Andre went on, Laughing. “Okay? She was raised by her uncle? Where and who is he? Any educational background? Criminal record and all?” I’d asked. “Yes, I was getting there” Andre replied. “Her Uncle is Eddie, Eddie Smith, Her Mother’s elder brother. He’s a drug dealer and Alannah is too, it says here that she’s also an addict. She’s wanted in Five different states, California inclusive. Heard she ran away from her uncle, with some money and all. So, asides being wanted by the Police, She’s being wanted by her Uncle too, he is really searching for her. Educational background, She’s a 4.7 GPA, Accounting student in college, Girl is pretty Brilliant, Book-smart and also street smart” Andre finished. “Did that help?” Andre asked. “Yes, I also need your guys to help keep an eye on her, We’d be arriving in Cali tomorrow and she’s wanted, she kinda isn’t really safe so, I want to know everything, her movements and all that, Feel me?” I replied. “Yes, Boss” Andre answered. “Cool, I’ll call you if there’s anything else.” I said and I hung up. I took a long shower, thinking about my new findings about Alannah before retiring to bed. We arrived in California the next day and I’d called Andre to let him know where We’d gotten off before going about my business, checked in an hotel and had real rest. *Two days later* “Ring ring ring” Came from my phone, waking me up from my nap. “Hello” I answered sleepily. “The cops got Alannah” Andre said. “What? How?” I asked, fully awake now. “They got her on the street, after you told me where you guys got off Two days ago, my men has been following her and as it seems, she’d been staying on the streets since she got off the ship” Andre Answered. “What? You could’ve called to inform me” I said, Calmly pinching my nose. “Yes, but, you know, it could be a plan or something, we needed to be sure before letting you know, I thought she might eventually meet up with someone, maybe a friend, but, as it seems, she has no one around here” Andre continued. “Okay, She was arrested by the police Patrol, it shouldn’t be serious yet. What Police Station?” I asked “I’ll text you” Andre answered. “Now” I replied, hanging up. Andre texted me all of the information I would be needing and I drove straight down to the police station in hopes of curbing the whole thing and getting Alannah out of cell. I know someone in that particular station and I’d put a call through to him. Getting out of my car and talking to one of the cops. “I need to speak with the COP” I said to one of the cops I met at the desk. “Do you have an appointment?” The cop asked. “Yes, Tell him Connor” I answered. “Okay” The cop said, punching the intercom. “Hello, Mr. Connor is here to see you, he said he has an appointment. Okay Sir” The cop saluted. “Follow me” He said, leading me through to the COP’s office. “Knock knock” “Come in” A voice answered. The cop opened the door, ushering me in, Saluted and left the office. “Hehe, Connor, my boy” he said pulling Me in for a little hug. “Uncle Matt” I laughed, Embracing him. “Sit, What brings you here” Matt asked. Offering Me a seat, while sitting down himself. “I want to get a bail of one Alannah Campbell, she was arrested this morning and I know she’s a wanted criminal, making it kinda difficult to grant her bail, but, I know there are some strings you can pull, therefore making it slightly easy to get her out of cell” I answered. “What?” Uncle Matt asked, raising an eyebrow. “You know it is going to be difficult and we need Alannah to get to Eddie Smith, we need her and she’s also a drug dealer, what you’re asking, my boy, is difficult” Matt continued “I know, I understand, but, she doesn’t sell anymore, in fact she’s on the run from her uncle as we speak, he need not find out that she’s been arrested, she’d be in danger” I explained. “She doesn’t sell anymore, doesn’t make her less of a criminal and if I may ask, why do you want her out?” Matt asked. “She just needs to be out, I promise I would never forget this favor and I will be indebted to you, Uncle” I said. “Oh Boy, No one knows we have her yet so, it’ll be pretty easy getting her out. I’ll make a call before you get to the desk and once you’re there they would grant your wish” Matt said, sighing. “Thank You, Uncle” I said, walking out of the office. I’d gotten to the desk and they’d asked me to wait while they go fetch Alannah. I went outside for fresh air and stood by my car. A cop had gone to fetch Alannah and I could see both of them walking outside, towards me. When they’d gotten outside, the cop turned back, leaving Alannah to walk towards my direction. “It’s you” She said, when she’d gotten to me, facing me. “Yes, it really is me, wait in the car, I need to take care of something” I said to her. I went inside to settle a few and to thank Uncle Matt for helping me get Alannah out. I got back to the car, had a conversation with Alannah while driving her to my home, I have never ever brought a complete stranger to my house, well, she wasn’t a stranger to me anymore considering I know almost everything there is to know about her. I even found myself almost offering her an interview and almost promising her a job, I knew she misunderstood when I said she’d be of great value to me so, I had to explain what I meant and in the process I’d promised a stranger a job. We got home, the drive was silent most of the time because we both had nothing to say to each other, asides the little conversation we had. Nanny McPhee and Lisa had welcomed Alannah in, got her settled and although, Nanny McPhee seem to make Alannah uncomfortable, I know that wasn’t her intention. McPhee is sweet she just had this thing for knowledge, she always wants to know why everything is happening and that is kind of making Alannah slightly uncomfortable but I had help her deal with it. After dinner everyone had retreated to go to bed, but, I wanted to have a conversation with Alannah, I called after her while she walked up the stairs. “Alannah” I called She halted and turned to see me walking towards her. “What do you want?” Alannah rolled her eyes “Chill, Jane Doe” I said. “I was hoping to have a conversation with you, especially if I’d be harboring you and you’d be working for me, I need to know what there is to know about you” I continued. “Oh” Alannah said. “Yeah, So tomorrow, After breakfast, maybe?” I asked. “Okay, Tomorrow it is then” Alannah answered. “Have a good rest” I said, walking away. “You too” I heard her reply. I slowly walked back to the sitting room, sleeping wasn’t really my thing. I find it hard to sleep most nights and I’m sure tonight would definitely be one of those nights. I have loads of paper work I need to work on, I remembered. I walked back, making my way to my study instead of the sitting room. I’m exhausted, but work calls so I had no other choice, being the boss comes with a really heavy load and my mum signed me up for it the day she made me the heir to ACE, I don’t have much of a choice and being the only heir as my mum had already left my dad and quite frankly, she wouldn’t entrust such responsibility to him, I have so much expected of me. I sat down and stared at the load of files on my table, sighed before opening them one by one. This chapter is rated 18 and if you’re not up to the age of 18 DO NOT READ!!**CONNOR** I told Alannah we would be having a conversation tomorrow morning. What are we going to talk about? How was I going to question her? I was thinking as I worked through the paper works in front of me, Damn it! I wasn’t concentrating. I need to get some sleep, I thought as I walked out of my study and make my way to my bedroom, sleep isn’t something that comes easy to me, and tonight, I know, is going to be one of those nights. I laid down but, I couldn’t sleep, tossing and turning on my bed. “Ugh, God” I groaned in frustration. Picked up my phone and punched in a contact. “Good Evening, Mr. Connor” the female voice at the other end of the phone had greeted. “Evening, Ava, I want you in my apartment in five" I said in my extremely dominating and intimidating tone. “Yes Sir” Ava answered from the other end of the call obviously terrified of me. Ava is a 22 years old lady being just
**Alannah** What was going on? I laid on my bed as I thought to myself, thinking about how I am going to have a real conversation with Connor without having the urge to strangle him. I and Connor don’t really get along, Now he’s harboring me in his house, meaning I’ll have to wake up and see his face each day and there is absolutely nothing I can do about it. Now, I wished I have a relative here, but, sadly, the one relative I have is my Uncle back at home and No, I will most definitely not want to go back to him.Occasionally, I get scared Eddie would find me, but, at least I’ll get to Live a little before he gets to know about my whereabouts. I shouldn’t worry about him now. Just when I was getting ready to get to sleep, I heard some strange noises, I have no idea where the sound was coming from and I was not really keen on finding out, I had planned on ignoring the sound and just get some sleep, but, it got harder to sleep when the sound grew louder. “Harder, Faster”
“Good Morning, Miss” A delighted Lisa said in a singsong way. She must be a Morning Person, I thought to myself as Lisa proceeded to open up the curtains. “Gosh, close the curtains, Lisa. It’s too bright” I said, squinting and still not fully awake. “Okay, I’ll close it” Lisa said. Drawing back the curtains. “Good Morning, Lisa.” I managed to mutter still sleepy, getting up, forcing my eye to open and running my fingers through my messy hair as though I’m scratching it. “My God, you are a mess” Lisa said. “An hot mess? Thank You” I laughed. “Why are you here though?” I asked Lisa, Yawning. “Well, breakfast is ready and Nanny McPhee demanded I fetch you” Lisa answered. “You had better go get yourself ready” Lisa continued, tugging at the edge of the sheet. “I will, where is Connor?” I asked and rolled my eyes at the memory of our outburst the previous night. “Downstairs, in the dining room” Lisa answered me, sort of confused as to why I asked. “Oh” I mouthed, spitting out the p
It had seemed too fast, really fast, here I am getting a job offer! A real job offer, a decent job. I couldn’t believe it, I had to ask again. “What do you mean?” I asked. “I want you to come work for my company, as the financial manager.” Connor confirmed. “Oh My God, Thank You. Yes, I’d love to.” I shrieked. I love it and would love to start working as soon as possible as numbers are my most favorite things in the world. I have never really met anyone who loved numbers as much as I do, they’re basically my best friend. Although, I don’t really like the fact that Connor would be my boss, but, that doesn’t matter, working would mean being on a professional level and I will not always have to see him. “I’ve always loved numbers, anything that has to do with calculating and balancing, count me in. Thank you!” I finally finished, still shrieking. “Good, You will resume tomorrow. 8:00am, you must be punctual as there would be penalties for getting to wor
I had just made a new discovery. How didn’t I know? Connor’s last name is Ace? He is really that powerful? I should’ve known from the influence he’d used in getting me out of cell, the house, the cars, the maids. I was expecting him to be filthy rich, but really, this had exceeded my whole expectations. I’d been rude to the multi billionaire, Connor Ace is the world youngest billionaire and the most eligible bachelor, I’ve heard about him multiple times, but I didn’t get to see a picture of him. It all started making a lot of sense. I was already lost in my deep thought until the voice of the attendant jerked me back to reality. “Try these on, Miss” She said, handing me a pile of female suits and gowns. “That is the dressing room, you can call for my attention when needed” She continued, pointing towards the dressing room. “Okay, Thank You. Lisa, follow me” I said, giving Lisa little to no time to protest before dragging her in with me. “So, Connor owns ACE?” I asked
**CONNOR** She hasn’t called back since I had asked Roy to drive her and Lisa to the boutique. I thought with a slight frown, taking a break from my work and picking up my phone. I’d scrolled through my call logs before finally getting to Alannah’s number and I clicked on it. Ring ring came the sound at the other end of the call before it finally connected. “Hello” Alannah had said in her sleepy voice, sounding tired. “Hello” I said. “It’s Connor.” I continued introducing myself like she had no idea I was the one on the call” “were you sleeping?” I asked. Of course she was, what kind of question was that and why did I even call her in the first place, I thought to myself. “Yes, Mr. Connor, the shopping was exhausting and I just thought to take a nap” Alannah replied. “Oh.” I said, did she just refer to me as Mr. Connor? Alannah had just called me by my name with an hint of respect, I initially thought she was being sarcastic, but there was no hint
It had been a long day for Connor. The meeting was even more stressful than he’d imagined. Everyone pitching their ideas and him having to concentrate, one thing he really wasn’t doing. Immediately the last minute was taken, Connor was grateful, it had almost been like he was in hell and for some reasons he couldn’t wait to be home, he convinced himself he only needed a bit of rest, pinching the bridge of his nose, Connor sighed and subtly walked away. “My office is a mess, get it all cleaned up” he said to the lady at the front desk while walking out. He got into the car and signaled to the driver to drive, “Are we going to the mansion, Sir?” the driver had asked as it was too early and it’s quite unusual of Connor to get back to the house this early, he would usually go to a bar and stop for a drink or two and call one of his girls over, somehow, Connor liked the idea of having that much girls, they respected him, feared him a lot and he loved the feeling he gets by be
**Alannah** Connor walked to the dining hall, pale. He looked like something had happened to him back in his room, but he’d rather not talk about it, Nanny McPhee asked if he was alright and he reluctantly replied he was. “You look like you’ve seen a ghost” I had said. “Why don’t you mind your own business?” He replied. Yes, I should’ve just minded my business and kept my mouth shut. I watched as Connor made his way to his seat beside Nanny McPhee and she seemed to understand him, because he seemed like a small child the whole time. Finishing my dinner, I walked back to my room leaving both of them at the table. “Goodnight” I said, standing up, the chair making a creaking sound as I moved it. “Goodnight my dear” Nanny McPhee replied. I made my way upstairs and walked down to my room slightly anxious, but mostly excited about my new job. The company must be so desperately in need of a financial manager because Connor had asked me to resume to
