My life as I know it is over. I Savannah Jaymes Blakemore now has no will to live. Why? Just why does my dad have to move us across the country?

I am so proud of him for getting this huge promotion. But why couldn’t the job keep us here in Wake Forest, North Carolina? Why does it have to be in Santa Monica, California?

I must leave the town I love, leave all my friends, my school, and everything I know and love for my father’s new position as the new VP of Lockwood Finance Industries.

My last day in school was the hardest. Me and my friends hugged and cried in the parking lot outside until it was time for me to go so, I climbed into my car and drove away from the school for the last time. A red Hyundai Genesis was the last gift my mom bought me before I lost her to cancer during my junior year in high school.

She knew she wasn’t going to be here for when I passed my driver’s test. So, the day I passed my test my dad gave me a small black box with a red bow on top of it and a letter written in my mom’s handwriting.

I have missed seeing her writing so much over the years. Inside the box were the keys to my car, the letter was my mom telling me how proud she is of me and how sorry she is that she’s not here to see me drive and with this car, she’s always going to be with me wherever I go.

I’m taking the long drive home, driving through the town saying my final goodbyes before the big move tomorrow morning. I pull into the driveway outside our two-story house.

Climbing out of the car I look at the sold sign on the lawn, sighing to myself knowing how real the move is. Slowly walking up the steps onto the porch, I open the door and step in “Dad?” I call out, a deep voice from the back of the house replies.

“In the kitchen sweetpea,” so I follow the sound of his voice and head for the kitchen. As I walk into the kitchen seeing all this the boxes and packaging on the kitchen counters, I hug Dad.

“Hey Dad” I say softly. “Hey there baby girl how was school?” “It was okay as usual but hard to say goodbye all at once.” Looking at my dad seeing the same green eyes I have, looking tired with thin lines surrounding them.

He nods “I understand sweetpea, we are leaving all we know behind for a new adventure.” I nod in agreement sighing “I know Dad, I know why don’t you get us some sodas, I’ll order us a pizza for dinner, and we’ll eat by the fire pit, and I’ll play us a song for our last night here.”

He squeezes me into his side “sounds perfect baby girl I’ll go and start the fire while we wait.”

Sitting round the roaring fire pit out back on the logs, enjoying our large pepperoni pizza under the stars. “It’s so beautiful out here tonight” Dad says looking up feeling so peaceful I nod and agree.

“Yeah, it’s so relaxing out here, just a shame mom isn’t here with us to enjoy it our new adventure with going to California, she would have loved it.”

“She would have baby girl indeed she would.” Taking a sip of his soda “just remember she is always with us no matter where we are in spirit, when you feel the breeze, it’s her telling us she’s here.” As Dad says this a light gentle breeze blows around us and we look at each other and smile as we know she’s here.

“Hi there, Mr. Blakemore, we were wondering, if we could join you and Savannah for a while before you leave tomorrow.” My best friends Brianna, Charlotte, and Ocean appear behind us, and I am surprised to see them. “Of course, girls come and join us.” Dad stands up to welcome them hugging each one of them as they joined us at the fire pit. “Hey guys I wasn’t expecting you until the morning to wave us off” I stand to give each of them a hug myself. “Oh, Sav we’re still doing that, we were driving by to see if you needed help with any last minute packing,” Brianna says hugging me back. “We saw the fire pit lit and knew you would be out here,” Ocean said after I hug her. Charlotte says when we hug “We’re only here for a little while and then leaving you guys for the night, we’re only here to help.” “Well, that’s mighty kind of you girls thank you,” Dad says in his Southern accent. “You’re just in time” I pick up my guitar, throwing the strap over my shoulder, and softly strum. “Let’s

After a long day of driving, making a pit stop in every state we finally arrive at the hotel we’re staying in for the night. We checked in to the Whitten Inn in Elk City, Oklahoma. Got our room key, climbed back into our cars to park closer to the room, and entered our accommodation for the night. The hotel room was a standard two double bed, bathroom, basic TV, mini fridge, and kettle with hot drink supplies. The bed felt comfortable, but I wouldn’t be testing that out until I’ve had a nice relaxing shower. Once I got out of the shower Dad was already snoring so loud, that I don’t have to leave the bathroom to know he’s already fast asleep. I walk back into the room once I was dried and dressed in a pink tank top and white shorts with pink hearts printed on them, I felt exhausted I climbed into the bed, and I melted into the sheets they felt like clouds against my skin. Rolling onto my side I looked at the time on the digital clock on the bedside table seeing it said 02:35 my eyes

“Oh my god, I’ve got the job I can’t believe it,” I say to myself quietly “I’ve got the job” I cheer a little too loudly as everyone stops what they are doing to look at me or in my direction and I blush a deep crimson staining my cheeks. “Sorry,” I say softly then everyone goes back to what they were doing just like nothing happened, as I hear my name get called to collect my order. So, I head to the counter to grab the coffees and put in the sugars for both me and Dad with our bagels in hand too, and head back to the cars at the hotel so I can tell Dad the good news and we can get back on the road. We make good time on the road and arrive in Albuquerque, New Mexico just after noon. To celebrate my getting the job Dad is treating me to lunch at a nice restaurant called Campo. We dined outside on their patio looking onto the kitchen gardens. While we are waiting for the waiter, we looked at the menu to decide on what we would like to order. We made up our minds just as the waiter ar

After thirty-eight long hours from Wake Forest, North Carolina to Santa Monica, California we finally arrive at our new house late at night. The house looked beautiful lit up with its small fountain in the middle of the driveway central in front of the house and with small palm trees leading up towards the house. The moving truck was leaving as we arrived, we honked our horns and waved as we passed each other. I pull up outside the house putting the car in park, grab all I need out of the car, and climb out to look at my new home as well as the surroundings. “Wow” is all I can say I’m totally lost for words. If the outside looks like this, I cannot wait to see out back and the interior design inside. Walking up the steps to the open door, I catch my breath looking round the main hall. This house is unbelievable. The big open-plan kitchen diner to the left, the family room to the right with an office to the side, and a marble staircase that leads upstairs and down the hallway I can se

Driving down the street heading towards the school I make a couple of wrong turns before arriving in the school parking lot. With making them wrong turns it made me later than I had liked, especially on my first day. Climbing out of my car once I found a parking space, I grab my school bag from the back seat then lock the car, and head towards the main building. Walking through the main doors I look around at my new school and try to find my way to the school office to get my transcript, class schedule, and books. The office was an easy find thankfully. After getting my class schedule I am asked to sit and wait to speak with the school principal to discuss my transcripts. Ten minutes after talking with the principal I was dismissed to collect all my books and to go to find my locker. With my books in hand and a piece of paper with my locker number and combination written on it, I go searching. Finding my locker, I put the books I don’t need for my first two periods. I leave English and head towards History. Going down hallway after hallway I go up a flight of stairs to find my class. History class was easier to find than English, surprisingly. Handing the teacher my tran slip and then I take the first available seat. As I get my books out, I hear that sexy deep voice from earlier “Excuse me but um… you’re in my seat.” I look up to see those green eyes and my heart starts to flutter uncontrollably. “Oh, is there assigned seating in this class or something?” I asked him feeling a little nervous about him being this close to me. He chuckles at me rubbing his bottom lip with his index finger trying to seduce me with his charm and I must say it is kind of working. Oh, how I hate myself for this feeling he is making me feel. “No, there isn’t but everyone knows this is my seat. This is where I sit with the boys” he points at the desks around me noticing their all guys probably football players with their build occupying them. I started to feel even mo

We walked out of class together “What class do you have next?” Jen asked once we got out of the classroom. “Um...” I look at my class schedule “I’ve got Earth Science next.” “Perfect I’ve got that too is it with Miss. Dawson?” she asks, and I look back at my schedule and nod looking at the name of the teacher. “Even better we can go together,” Jen says as she links her arm through mine and leads us to our lockers before heading to class. We talk all the way to our lockers to grab our books and talk all the way to class. If we didn’t know any better, you could say we’ve been friends our entire lives. We got to class and sat together to only hear the voices from the hall before first period and now I know the names to go with the voices coming from behind us. “I can’t believe your sister is befriending the new girl” I heard what Candace was saying so me and Jen looked at each other and Jen rolls her eyes. “Candace just leave them alone it’s up to Jen who she hangs out with you k

We found Jen sitting at a table near the fountain in the school quad. Jen notices me and Selena and she waves us over. When we get to the table and put our trays down Chase came over to us “Hello ladies” and he smiles at all of us, but I noticed he looked at me a little bit longer than the other girls. Jen rolls her eyes “What do you want ass hat.” Chase then shushes his sister “Not in front of company but anyway, mom wants us home straight after school today for some dinner party tonight.” Hearing what Chase just said I choke on my drink “I know you dick wad, Mom told me before I left this morning you were too busy with that bitch of yours Candace.” Jen snaps back at him and she rolls her eyes at him again that’s twice in a matter of minutes and Chase glares back at his sister. “Jen you can be a real bitch some days yourself, anyway you’ve never given her a chance” Just as Chase finished his discussion with his sister Candace comes waltzing over kissing him on the lips as Jen

Chase P.O.VFour years later Well, it’s been four amazing years in San Fransisco. Savannah and I graduated college last week. I got a degree in Business and in Finance, where Savannah got one in English Literature and in Music. Where I double majored in college Savannah had a major in English but a minor in music. We both graduated with high honors. The world is now our oyster. But before we can even think about anything to do with the world and how we wish to change it I am back at the office wanting to speak to Savannah’s father. It is now time we had that discussion I said I planned to have with him back when we were seniors in high school. Fuck that feels like forever ago. I told her father on the night of the Christmasqurade ball that one day I will come to him to ask for his daughter’s hand in marriage and today is that day. I have arranged for a meeting with Mr. Blakemore to take place in the company’s board room and I asked my dad to be present during this meeting. I plan fo

  • A little Cinderella moment   Chapter 122

It has been a couple of weeks since prom and the big day is approaching quickly. Today we get our yearbooks and get them signed before graduation day that is this Saturday. It’s hard to believe this is our final week in high school. It feels like today is still my first day of school but it’s actually almost my last. Not paying attention to where I was going or who was around me with my yearbook in hand I collide into a big, solid mass of a person knocking my books, my yearbook, and some odd bits of paper all over the floor. Bending down to pick everything up, still not paying attention to who I bumped into, on instinct I do apologize to the person as I start picking up my things. I see the person I bumped into bend down and starts to help me with picking up my things and holds out my English book and my notes to hand back to me. I can’t believe I’ve done this again. “You may need these sweetheart,” Hang on a minute? Did I just? Looking up I see Chase smiling at me as he holds my stuf

We all climb out of the limo and the guys are all holding our arms and escorts us up into the building. Two doormen kindly open the door for us and welcome us to the Crystal Palace and to enjoy our evening. First stop for us as Chase and Lucas recommended is to get our pictures done first so then that way, we don’t look too red faced or sweaty. That is actually not a bad idea if you think about it. We get a bunch of pictures took, we had solo pictures, the six of us together, just the girls, just the guys, and with our dates. I can’t wait to see how the pictures come out because I will be getting a copy of every single one. Entering into the ballroom of the palace we can hear the DJ playing ‘Just Dance’ by Lady Gaga. We walked around couples and across the dancefloor to the only table that is free for us to claim. The girls and I put our purses on the table and hit the dance floor with how good the music is sounding. After a couple of songs, the guys joined us on the dance floor alre

After clipping my bow into place, I have one final look at myself in my bathroom mirror before I step out and show the girls. Walking to the door, putting my hand on the handle I close my eyes, take a deep breath, and open the bathroom door. On the other side of the door, I see Jen and Selena with their phones taking my picture and recording me as I walk out. Putting a huge smile on my face I walk out the bathroom giving the girls a twirl and a cute little princess curtsey I have seen Princess Catherine do before. The girls laugh and comment how incredible I look, and Jen commented on the bow. “How big did you want that thing? Fuck Sav that’s the biggest ass bow I have ever seen stuck on anybody’s ass.” We laugh at her comment as I walk over to my vanity. Sitting down on my stool I put in a pair of my mom’s diamond and pearl drop earrings and her snowflake necklace again. Wearing this necklace makes everything feel like it’s turned in a full circle. Finding out Chase was Wolf behind

Three weeks later Tonight is prom night. The night all the senior girls look forward to the most. Don’t ask me about the guys some look forward to it for other reasons than what it means. The girls and I are getting ready together. We all booked to get our hair and makeup done at a salon today for tonight. We are sat in the chairs getting pampered away, a treat from Selena’s Abuela, as she said no Nieta of hers will not go to prom without having a beauty day at the salon. We all chose to have a French manicure and pedicure, to keep it simple. We also showed our makeup artists pictures of our dresses so they could do our makeup to match our dresses. Jen’s hair shaped her face beautifully. She had a volumized high ponytail with some hair extensions that matched her hair color perfectly with elegant curls and some curls framing her face. To finish the look off she had this black jeweled crystal hair clip she slid into the top part of the ponytail. Jen’s makeup made her look much older t

Walking into the house I see Dad sat on the stairs with what looks like a photo album in his hand. I shut the door behind me and slowly approach him looking at the sad expression on his face as he stares at a photo in the book. When I got closer, he looked up at me with unshed tears in his eyes. When I asked him if everything was okay, he said that everything was fine and he was just living back in the past, and he showed me the page he was looking at in the photo album. It was Mom and Dad’s high school graduation. It was the picture of Mom with her diploma and then Dad with his diploma and under that was the picture of the two of them together. Dad told me the story about how him and Mom met in high school. Hearing what he said was almost a de ja vu. Mom bumped into Dad as she wasn’t watching where she was going, and Dad bent down to help Mom pick up her things and he said it was like love at first sight. We sat on the stairs for a few more minutes just talking and reliving the good

The school year is flying by. Finals are vastly approaching; concert rehearsals are in full swing and it’s almost time for prom season. Chase has been working hard at school and working harder with football. Right now, he has done all he can to impress the college scouts. We all have been working hard I’ve even seen Jen studying some pre law books and even reading about the LSATS. Selena went to some business seminars to see if that is truly the route she wants to go down after graduation. Lucas has been working just as hard if not harder than Chase with his school work and with football. Greg on the other hand has slacked off a little but he has already confirmed he has a secured place in college already. But which one? I don’t know. College acceptance letters should be coming in the post soon but how long after finals will they arrive? Hopefully not long as I believe they wait for finals and the final grades before sending out the letters. All this pressure can make or break some hi

Lunch in hand, Selena and I start walking to the bleachers when Greg and Lucas catch up to us, and the four of us walk together the rest of the way. Jen and Chase are already sat up in the bleachers as we arrived. Lucas helped Selena up with her food and Chase came down to help with mine and we went and joined Jen and enjoy our lunch together. We joked around and had a good time just as we should do at our age because with this being our senior year we only have a short time together like this before we go our separate ways for college. Speaking of college, we all talked about where we have applied for and where we hope to go. Lucas has had a couple of calls from college scouts and Chase said he has had the same but the one he is hoping to hear from he has not just yet. Jen said she is wanting to do a couple of years in one college and then go to Harvard to study law as that is where she feels more passionate, and she gets to be part of the family business in some way or another.
