loosing that part of his sanity, was his choice

Lauren slept over all that she had managed to read and learn about Lucious from Pamela.

Pamela was something else, when it comes to anything that concerns Lucious. She had a whole Journal written about Lucious Mendez, she seem to know a lot about him, even though she never spoke to him, but then, Lauren isn't surprised. Pamela have always had a strong crush on Lucious, that even in her room, she have all this pictures from Magazines and newspapers of him, and she never hid her feelings, she was always open about it, to anyone, who wanted to know.

She learnt that Cynthia, is his ex, just the same way she had suspected, and she never stopped trying to get back together with him, even after he married Sydney, she was still calling and trying to get in touch with him. Their breakup was caused as a result of Cynthia wanting to pursue her career further, when Lucious wanted her at home all the time with him. He cheated on Cynthia with Sydney, and he became bounded to Sydney. Rumors have it that, Lucious traveled for a business trip once, and it was not a business trip, but a trip to be with her. You know that thing they say about old flames dying hard.

She also learnt that Sydney, thinking Lucious was still into his ex, tries doing everything possible, to be almost like her, and that was why, his mother had said, Sydney had gone to learn nursing, since that is something Cynthia does, that he liked.

Finally she learnt that, the reason he married Sydney was not because he fell out of love with Cynthia, but because Sydney was good in bed, and was always ready to do his bid, even if it meant hurting herself.

She met with Doctor Carter, who also explained why Lucious Mendez was able to remember everything else, other than his wife's face. He told her that, she was the only person who understood him and could give him what he wanted at all times, and so, he refused himself from accepting that she was gone.

"But he haven't even been told that she is dead". She argued further, and he nodded, before he continues with his explanation. Backing it up with medical theories, he explained that it is a mind thing. Deep within him, he would feel worse, if he accepts that Sydney was dead, and since no one was mentioning it to him, it further helps his mind play well at agreeing that she is Sydney, fighting hard not to look the other side that says other wise.

"But do you think he is ever going to remember his wife, the way she truly is? She had asked him and he nodded as to say yes.

He explains that he was going to remember her, because he never really forgot her, but he will need someone, to remind him of the difference between herself and Sydney, and show him the differences between the two, before he can accept that she is really gone, and she is different from the person currently in his life.

Lauren read more about him and his late wife, before moving forward to packing a few things.

In few hours, she will move in with him as his wife, and everything about her will change. She will no longer be that lonely girl , with no one in her life, she will be the wife of one of the most powerful men in the country.

In the eye of the world, she will be miss Lauren, a nurse. While for a few persons, she will be Mrs Lucious Mendez.

The family wanted it that way, because they didn't want more chaos or news about their family out in the public.

By the time she got to the hospital, Pamela was there waiting for her, she was in tears, saying she was going to miss her, as though she was going to die.

"I still work here Pam, you don't have to be all dramatic". She tries to cheer her up, while cheering herself up too. Deep within her, she knows her normal life will no longer be as normal again, and she feels like crying, but she needed to act strong, before she changes her mind.

"I know, but now, you will be scarce, you will be spending more time with him, than you will spend here. As a matter of fact, I won't see you for three whole months because you are going to be his nurse for that long, before he can be certified to be fully recovered". She tells her. Lauren nodded her head in disagreement. Truely she will be his nurse, but she will be coming to the hospital from time to time.

"I think you don't know how this thing works. I will only be with him, after my work here. His mother could administer his drugs to him, during the day, I don't have to babysit him". She tells her friend, who shook her head.

"You haven't heard? She asked her. Lauren leaned forward to understand her friend.

"Heard what? She asked.

"Mr Lucious Mendez broke his legs yesterday, and he is all bandages. He will go home today, but he will have to be wheeled home, and wheeled around. Doctor Carter says, he may be like that for the next three months, so you are going to have to be by his side all the time". Lauren was shocked. When she left him the previous day, he was okay. She didn't want to believe what she just heard, so she rushed into his room, only to find him on a wheel chair.

"What happened to you? She asked. She was given some lame explanation as to what happened to him, and after the paper work, she wheeled him to the car, as she waved to her friend. Her new life is about to begin, and she is so unlucky, because, she wont just be bounded to a psycho, who doesn't know her, and calls her by the name of his late wife, but, she will also have to be with him every other time, for the next three month. Taking him everywhere, even to the toilet to defecate, and to the bathroom to take his bath.

As she sat behind the Limo, she closed her eyes and let a tear drop. She could feel his eyes on her, but she didn't want to look his way. She was going to hell. Married to someone she doesn't love, was hell enough. Let alone, married to a psycho.
