Chapter 1: The Will

Seated in a custom-made Maybach is none other than the H-city’s youngest billionaire and highly sought-after bachelor by all women.

Tapping his hand impatiently on the armrest of the car seat, he looked at his watch and frowned, frustrated by the traffic on one of the major roads in H city.

It was already 6 pm and he had just finished work in his office. He had an important appointment to keep and did not have any patience for delays.

Today was his birthday, but he didn't care about that since he has never celebrated it. What was important to him was the reason he was heading to the old family mansion. Today was the day his grandfather's will is to be read after three months of his death. He is not interested in what is on the will or the fortunes his grandfather left since he was already self-made, but the reason he is going there is to honor the death of his grandfather, the man who brought him up and made him into the man he is today.

Oliver's grandfather was a wealthy man who lived his life to the fullest before he finally passed on.

As the Maybach slowly made its way through the traffic, Oliver's mind wandered back to his grandfather. He remembered the old man's harsh words, his demanding nature, and his ruthless business tactics. Oliver had learned a lot from him over the years, but he had also seen the darker side of his grandfather's personality. He knew that the old man had made many enemies during his lifetime, but knowing how he is feared by a lot of people, even after his death, nobody will go against him.

A lot of people have talked about how ruthless and unforgiving he is in the business world compared to his grandfather, and they also talk about the fact that he learned from the best. Even with how rich his grandfather was, he still developed his own empire at the young age of 21. Today he is 30, and looking back at how far he has come, he couldn’t be more satisfied.

Finally, the Maybach pulled up in front of the old mansion, and Oliver stepped out of the car after his assistant opened the door. He raised his brow when he saw the series of cars in the compound and how the workers in the mansion moved around in a hurry.

"Is there a party that I wasn’t informed of?"

"boss, the thing is." Ethan's assistant coughed, "Your grandmother set up a birthday party for you." Ethan said this and immediately shifted away as he waited for the worst to happen.

"A birthday party?" He asked the question with a calm voice but a dark expression on his face.

Ethan was frightened by his calmness; when his boss is this calm, then the worst is about to happen.

"Yes"

"And you knew and did not inform me."

If he had informed his boss, he wouldn’t have come to the old mansion. Also, he didn’t want to offend Grandma, who warned him never to tell him.

"Forgive me, boss; I was told not to say anything."

"You will not be rewarded any bonuses for the next six months," Oliver said, and he walked briskly to the front door.

Ethan felt like crying. What is he going to tell his girlfriend when she finds out he isn’t going to receive any bonus for the next six months? It was best if he was given another kind of punishment.

The bodyguards at the front door opened the door and bowed their heads when they saw the young master.

Oliver stepped inside the house and heard a loud, excited scream of "Happy Birthday!"

Oliver looked at the people in front of him and the decorations in the mansion, then frowned. They decided to do this because they knew how much he hated celebrating his birthday.

"Happy birthday, grandson," Grandma May said as she hugged her grandson, who was way taller than her.

"I didn’t ask for this, Grandma."

Grandma May smiled. "I know, but I had to do it; it’s your 30th birthday, and you have never celebrated your birthday before."

Oliver's eyes moved around, and his eyes darkened, his fist clenched when he saw the number of females in the room; they stared at him while blushing like lost puppies.

He knows the plan of his grandmother; every year she will try to match him with a girl from a noble family by handing him a list of about 20 names to choose from. This year, she didn’t hand him any lists but has gone ahead to set up a birthday party for him and invite all the eligible females in H City who are from noble families.

"Where is the lawyer?" he asked after he didn’t see the family lawyer anywhere.

"Come have some drink and food first to celebrate, then we can meet the lawyer upstairs."

"I will head upstairs first." He walked away and headed upstairs.

As he was about to climb the stairs, he saw a figure rushing towards him. His men quickly stopped her from getting closer to him.

He looked at the young lady, who had loud make-up on and a thought-provoking dress on, and felt irritated.

"Mr. Raywood, please give me an opportunity to get to know you. I promise you will not regret choosing me as your woman."

"Take her out of this place and make sure she never appears in front of me again."

"Yes boss"

"Please don’t; just give me a chance," the girl said in desperation as she struggled to pass the guards. She didn’t want to miss the opportunity to meet the youngest billionaire and most wanted man by all women.

Everyone watched as Oliver walked up the stairs with care while the girl was dragged out of the mansion.

Due to his dislike and uninvolvement with women, rumors have been spreading that he might like men or might have a medical problem.

After two hours, everyone saw that the celebrant was not going to come down for his own birthday. They all lift one after the other, and now the only person left in the living room is Grandma May, who was furious at her grandson for not appreciating the birthday party she set up for him. Keeping her anger in her heart, she went to the second floor of the mansion and met her grandson who is discussing with the lawyer.

"Grandma is finally here, so you can proceed with the will," Oliver said to the lawyer, who nodded.

Grandma May looked at her so in anger before taking her seat.

Before the Lawyer proceeded with reading the will, he made sure that everyone who needed to be present was present. Which is the grandson of the diseased, his wife, his trusted butler, the head maid, and a few other persons.

According to the will, 50% of the late Mr. Haywood’s wealth goes to his only grandson, 20% goes to his granddaughter, who is not present, 20% goes to his wife, and then the remaining 10% is to be shared among his trusted staff.

The 50% given to Oliver included the H&D Group, which was established by his grandfather, and other properties.

The lawyer informed them that they would all get their share after a month, when everything had been finalized.

"But," the lawyer paused and looked at Oliver, whose expression was calm.

"But what, Mr. Edward?" Grandma asked the lawyer.

"As for the H&D Group and other properties given to Mr. Haywood here, they will not be handed over to him until he gets married and has a child, and if he doesn’t get married soon and have a child within a year and six months, he will forfeit his inheritance and everything will be shared among orphanages across H.City.
