Chapter 4

"Hi! I'm Xander." he said, looking at her from the mirror, fixed in front of him. 

" I'm Caroline." she said. She was scared. Xander could easily find that she was uncomfortable there inside his car. 

" Relax… Xander said and he offered her a water bottle. 

Caroline said, " no, thanks." and took out a water bottle from her bag and drank it. 

"Actually i'm returning from my college. I'm an hour late today. Usually, i leave the college around 4 o'clock itself." Xander said while looking forward on the road." You must be surprised why am I telling you all this? "

Caroline didn't say anything. She was expecting to reach the house safely as soon as possible. 

" I just want you to feel comfortable. If you say,i can tell you my address too. It is… .. "

Caroline gave him a stern look and said,"did i ask you? You clip your lips together and concentrate on your driving."

" How rude she is!" Xander sulked. After a few minutes, he said, " You… "

" I already told you not to say anything. Can't you keep quiet and drive only." Caroline fumed at him. 

Xander stopped the car and turned back. He stared at her angrily. She got scared. 

Looking at her scared face, Xander bursted into laughter. 

" Ma'am, will you tell me your address?How can i drop you unless you tell me the address? " Xander said after holding his laughter. 

Caroline made herself comfortable and told him the address. After knowing her address, Xander speeded up the car and after an hour, the car was standing exactly in front of her house. 

Xander opened the window and looked up at the house and said surprisingly, "wow! What a beautiful house? " 

Caroline hung her bag and got out of the car. She then closed the door and quickly moved towards her home. Xander was still looking at her. She stopped and came back to him, smiled and said, "thank you, Xander."

Xander smiled too and said, "I was expecting that." He then turned back his car and drived away. 

"Mum, mamma, where were you today?Why didn't you come to pick me up? " Caroline said as she entered the house."I was waiting for you there alone."

" Ohh..i'm really sorry, honey.I thought your dad would pick you up."her mom apologized. 

Caroline almost threw her bag on the sofa out of frustration and sat down on the couch. 

" Then how did you come? "her mom asked her," who dropped you here by car, i heard the sound of the horn just?"

She sulked her face and went inside her room to change her clothes without replying to her mom. 

Her mom followed her to her room and said," You didn't reply to me. Who dropped you here, honey?"

" I don't know him, mom. When i was waiting for you, he asked me for the lift as he was passing by." Caroline flustered. 

" Wait, let me ask your dad.Why didn't he inform me if he couldn't reach your school to pick you?" her mom said angrily. 

Caroline stared at her mom and said, " Seriously, mom? " She gasped and said, "don't you think, you are losing your memory as you're ageing.? She teased her.

"Dad had already told you last night itself that he would be busy today in meeting and he couldn't pick me up."

" Yeah, you're right. Now i remembered it. But don't tease me by reminding me that i'm ageing." She pouted and said," I'm still young."

Caroline laughed. 

" Why don't you ask him to come inside? I wanted to meet him and thanked him for his kindness." Her mom said. 

" I was scared.So,i forgot to tell him to come inside." Caroline said. 

" Why? Did he do something to you?" Her mom said angrily. 

" No, mom. He was very nice. But I was scared because it was the first time i travelled with a stranger." Caroline said. 

She looked at her, smiled, wrapped her in a tight hug and apologized.

" Next time, it won't happen darling." Her mom said. 

Caroline shook her head and hugged her back. 

Next day

It was sunday and today it was full moon day. Every full moon day, alpha Jack and Elena used to organize a party for their packs at a resort which was 14 km away from the city in the midst of a dense forest. A loner wolf used to find mate in the party. They used to howl together after the party around 1 o'clock. 

" Carol, get ready a nice dress for today's party." her mom said while picking up a dress for herself. 

"Okay mum… " she said unwillingly. She didn't want to go to the full moon party. She wanted to stay at home and focus on her studies. She had never been a great student but she was very diligent and she wanted to pull off a nice grade in the coming exam but she knew that her mom and dad would never allow her to stay at home alone. 

She got up from her bed and went near her wardrobe. "Umm, what to wear today? " she was murmuring while looking at the dozens of dresses inside the wardrobe. 

" Ohh.. yeah. This black gown will look good on me." She took out that dress from the wardrobe and checked it on herself, standing in front of the mirror. 

She kept that dress aside on her bed and closed the wardrobe. 

" I don't want to go in the party

He will again trouble me there and i can't complain about him to my mom because he looked very innocent in front of her." Caroline thought in her mind., " I should try one more time and ask my mom to allow me to stay at home."

She went to her mom and said, " Mom, you know , this time my teacher had already warned everyone to prepare very well for the exam. It's going to be very hard this time."

" Ohh.. " her mom said and got busy with her work. 

" So,i was thinking about staying at home today and studying for my exam." Caroline said and looked at her for her reaction. 

" Carol, i know that you don't want to attend the party but try to understand us, we can't allow you to stay at home alone." Her mom said. 

" But why?" Caroline flustered.," You don't trust me? "

" It's not about trust,honey.we trust you but we have already gathered so many enemies right after your dad became alpha of two packs and they are waiting and trying hard to harm us." she said anxiously. 

" Don't worry.You just attend today's party. From the next time,i will not attend the party and we will have fun together at home. Happy?" her mom said. 

Caroline nodded and smiled at her.
