Chloe
Some time later...
I couldn't keep working like a rat in that restaurant. I was too tired and hurt. It was then that Montana took me into his home. She was also once a slave, and knew better than anyone that I was destroyed.
Of course, that didn't mean my work was over. Every now and then, I would be asked to do something.
It took us a whole day and half of another day to prepare the place for the moon ceremony.
Luna told me that there would be more than six hundred guests, between our pack and the neighbors, with whom we shared a peace treaty.
When we finished packing everything, Luna sent me home so I could rest for a few hours. I had to be back at the leader's house by nightfall. The party wouldn't start until nine o'clock.
When I got home, I was greeted by the unpleasant sight of my aunt walking around the living room naked...
“Ecaaalt,” I said out loud, to get her attention. — You know, these rooms were made specifically for our privacy. Not to walk around the house completely naked.
I turned my back, waiting for her to get some clothes.
— Oh, sorry about that, darling. I wasn't expecting you so soon. I just got back from patrolling the southern area of the village,” she replied nonchalantly.
Tia was a seeker, she had a keen sense of smell.
Occasionally, the alpha assigned her to patrol, to see if she could sniff out the renegades that had been roaming the border lately.
— Whatever, — I rolled my eyes at her, went straight up to my room and threw myself on the bed.
I tried to sleep, but sleep didn't come, so I got up and decided to go downstairs to prepare dinner.
When I got downstairs, I realized I was completely alone in the house. Montana left again.
I shrugged my shoulders.
- Better for me.
I went into the kitchen and made some dough, then sat in front of the TV and started looking for a movie to watch.
My cell phone rang. I looked at the screen and smiled when I saw it was my friend.
“Hey, Em,” I answered, as I scrolled through the list of movies on the TV.
— So... how was the cleaning and preparation for the big party? - she asked.
— So far, pretty tiring. That place is huge. I thought we would never finish decorating. — As I spoke, I put a forkful in my mouth.
—Ugh, I can imagine. What time does it starts? - she asked.
— I have to be there around five-thirty. The whole torment starts at eight.
— Do you know what time you're leaving?
— No, actually, but I'm sure it won't be before midnight
— Wow... that sucks. I guess I'll have to wish you a happy birthday tomorrow.
— Yes, they told me to leave my cell phone at home, so I won't be able to read any messages until I get back here.
Emma growled.
— Yes, that sucks.
I couldn't help but chuckle.
We spent the rest of the afternoon talking and laughing. I barely noticed the time flying by.
A few hours later, he was on his way to the leader's house. I presented myself at the gate, went to the servants' quarters and changed into my official uniform.
The outfit consisted of a white shirt with long sleeves, a red bow, black high-waisted pants, and black heels.
When we finished getting dressed, all of us servants went to the gala room, where the lights were off. We each grabbed a tray and prepared to welcome our guests.
Luna assigned each servant a section of tables to keep an eye on, then instructed us to stand against the wall closest to the designated area.
The space soon began to fill with people, all dressed in their most expensive outfits.
The last to enter were our allies, the Blue Moon pack, coming from the west.
His alpha entered with his daughter, Delancy Wilhelm. She was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen.
She had long, beautiful blonde hair, tanned skin, and bright hazel eyes. His entire being exuded perfection.
After them came the gamma of our pack, Remus Boman, who was in his late twenties. He was holding hands with his partner, Aspen.
Remus had dark hair, with a few strands of gray here and there. He had brown eyes and was one of the shortest men in our village.
But despite his size, he was not only one of the smartest in the pack, but one of the strongest.
Next came the beta, Maximus Barone. He was tall, with blond hair and green eyes.
All the girls were crazy about him, even though he was a womanizer. Maximus was the second strongest wolf in the group.
Last but not least, the hero of the moment stepped into the hall.
Our alpha, Aaron Fortier Gagliardi. If the beta drove women crazy, it was the alpha who had the power to make panties fall.
He had a mass of black hair—which always gave the impression that he had just rolled out of bed—and eyes so blue they sparkled like sapphires.
He was huge, and I could see the bulging muscles marking his clothes. It was as if he had been designed by the Goddess herself.
But there was a problem with it...
The man didn't know how to smile or be nice to anyone.
Despite being drop dead gorgeous, that frown, combined with his powerful alpha aura, scared people away.
Most of the time, he was only seen with his beta, who happened to be his childhood friend. Or with Delancy, the other alpha's daughter.
For a moment, our eyes met, and his intense gaze pinned me to the floor. The whole thing lasted a fraction of a second, but it was enough to shake me inside.
When the alpha took his place, everyone did the same.
And so the party began.
Everything was going by very quickly. I was so busy at my desks that I didn't even realize how fast time was passing.
“Chloe, Luna needs you in the kitchen,” one of my coworkers said. “I'll be there in a minute,” I replied, collecting empty plates and filling some champagne glasses. When I entered the kitchen area, I was greeted with a shower of confetti. —Happy birthday, Chloe! — everyone shouted. They brought a beautiful cake with eighteen candles. — Oh, my Goddess! Guys, you didn't need it! — I said, looking at the cake in wonder. - Oh, stop it! It's not every day you turn eighteen,” said one of the cooks. — Yes, very soon you will hear your wolf. — Then you will be able to transform and... — Lady Karla dragged the 'e' while looking at everyone. —...find your partner! I rolled my eyes as they laughed. We ate some of the cake and went back to the hall to continue our work. Suddenly I heard a strange voice in my head. — Hello, Chloe..., — it was subtle, but clear as day. It was my wolf. She had finally woken up. — Um... hello? — I replied in my mind. She laughed and came to the surface.
— Oh, come on, don't be a spoilsport. There's no way you're bored,” he drawled as he drank his beer. —Yes, I am, actually. I'm only here because I'm the host,” I looked at him. — Have you found your partner yet? I want to end this party soon. I regretted the question the moment it left my mouth. Max started crying and threw his arms around my shoulders. - No! I'm starting to believe I don't have a date. Ah, Goddess of the Moon! Will it be my destiny to be a lone wolf forever? — he shouted, holding my arms. — Let go of me, you idiot! But he held me with an iron hand. — No, you need to comfort me! I'm heartbroken, I can't find my partner. — I told you to let go of me! — I stopped abruptly when a heavenly scent entered my nostrils. I pushed Max aside, trying to sniff the air for the source. — What... hey! — Max started to whimper, but I stopped him. — Do you smell that smell? I asked him. - What a smell? Delancy asked. I completely forgot she was still there. - Hmm? — Max sniff
But if you feel angry, angry or disappointed, know that even though I'm gone, I'll be there for you. Don't let your feelings stop you from seeing the blessings that surround you. Ask the Moon Goddess to allow you to see where your mother and I saw you, and you will become the person you want to be... A reflection on your parents. For yours acts as your true partner. With all the air that exists my action, Daddy. I became a waterfall again, but now the tears were tears of happiness. Dad was right. Being sad and crying was a waste of energy. As much as it was for me, it must have been a shock for Alpha Aaron to find out we were partners. Maybe, with time, he would be able to accept this. I just had to be patient. Aaron A maid. An omega is my rubbish partner?! This has to be a joke! I paced back and forth in my office, trying to come to terms with what had just happened. I mean, I was an alpha, for God's sake. My lineage is very old, it is a long succession of noble leader
His voice was so rough that I started to shake. — I'm sure it must have been a misunderstanding, Alpha Aaron. I know Chloe wouldn't do something like that,” Luna said. “That's right,” Montana agreed. — I assure you, alpha, that my Chloe is not a thief. Something or someone made her run away from the party. She came home crying last night. Montana got in front of me, trying to defend me. — Surely, in her rush to get home safely and away from whoever hurt her, she forgot to return her uniform. I couldn't speak. I was shaking, pinned to the floor, fighting back the tears that desperately wanted to fall. Why was he being so mean to me? — Who did this to you, Chloe? — Luna asked suddenly. I looked at the alpha, who gave me a silent warning. I closed my mouth tightly and looked at my feet. — May I have a word with Miss Craton? Alone? — Alpha Aaron asked. I turned to Montana, who glanced at me briefly and then looked at the three people standing before us. “Um. Sure,” she said. My
— Chloe, don't cry... He wants you, yes. He just doesn't want to accept it, ” Rhea said, trying to make me feel better. But I could only cry and cry. —Rors! Come on, boo. Open it. What is happening? — I heard my best friend talking on the other side of the door. “I don't want to talk about it,” I replied. - Let's go dear. Do not Cry. It was nothing serious. Everyone understood that it was just a mistake,” said Montana. — Please open. I hate seeing you like this... — she continued. — Go away... leave me alone, — I shouted from my bed. I heard Montana sigh. “I think you should go home, Em,” she said, turning away from the door. —Call me when you feel better, okay? I'm here for you,” I heard my friend say before leaving. I don't know at what point, but I finally fell asleep. When I woke up, it was almost dusk, so I got up and decided to go for a walk to clear my head. I went downstairs and saw aunt sleeping soundly on the sofa in the living room. I didn't want to wake her, so
And trying to shut up Cronnos, who was still barking about me ruining his chance at love. I decided to take up patrol duty tonight to get her out of my head, but I couldn't stop thinking about those beautiful gray eyes staring at me sadly. — She's out here! I can feel it! — Cronnos started screaming in my head. —What the fuck are you talking about, you old fleabag? I asked my wolf. Then a sweet smell entered my nostrils. I would recognize that smell anywhere. Was her... Chloe was here. But what was she doing so far from home at this time of night? It wasn't safe to run without protection. Anger rose inside me. What the fuck was she doing here in the woods, near the border, alone? - Who cares?! Find her before something happens to her! — Cronnos screamed in my head. I ran toward her scent—anxiety increased as I realized the scent was stronger near our pack border. I arrived at a clearing. Right next to the lake sat a beautiful wolf with fur as white as snow and eyes that spar
I lifted my head and looked at him, perplexed. - What? — I asked, shock written all over my face. — I'm not going to reject you yet, Miss Craton. I have other plans for you. But you won't tell anyone in the village that we are partners. As I said before, if you do this, I will deny it. And I will brand you, and whoever you say, as renegades. With that, he turned his back on me once again. - Come back home. It's too late for a simple omega wolf like you to be here alone,” he said. And he disappeared into the bushes, leaving me there, dazed and hurt. What did he want with me? ** ** Chloe I returned home feeling completely defeated. I could feel exhaustion taking over my body. I thought this is what happens when you turn into a wolf for the first time without having eaten a decent meal in the last **** hours. Now that I stop to think about it, I wasted two days in a row crying non-stop, all because of my supposed soulmate. I walked through the door and almost fell back when som
I turned to look at the only familiar figure I had left. “I don't want to leave you alone,” I told her. And it was true. Even though Montana and I didn't always see eye to eye, she was the one who raised me and took care of me after my father died. “I'll be fine, honey. I'm sure the alpha will allow us to meet. I highly doubted that. — I'm sorry, darling. But we must hurry,” Luna interrupted us. I ignored her and continued looking at aunt. “It's going to be okay, Chloe,” Montana said. — Go ahead and pack your things. We don't want to make the alpha angry. I thought about it. Make that man angry. What difference would it make? He was always irritated. Even so, I shook my head and went up to my room to pack my things, collecting everything I would need, before leaving the place I always called home. As soon as I finished packing my things, I went downstairs and caught part of the conversation between Luna and Montana. —He accused her of stealing yesterday! Why does he want he
**Chloe"You may have power, Wendell," I said, "but I have something you'll never understand. I have loyalty, love, and the strength of my pack behind me." With a roar, Wendell attacked me, his eyes blazing with fury. But I held my ground, ready to face him head-on.We clashed, each of us using all our strength to gain an advantage. Wendell was a formidable opponent, but I refused to back down. As we fought, I could feel Rhea vibrating in my chest. She was eager to join the battle, eager to sink her teeth into our enemy. Finally, Wendell stumbled, and I saw my chance. With a flick of my wrist, I sent a fireball at him. It hit him square in the chest, and he fell to the ground, writhing in agony. I approached him cautiously, my heart heavy with the knowledge of what I had done. I never wanted to kill, but sometimes the only answer to evil is to end it."Why, Wendell?" I asked, my voice softening. "Why did you do all this?" He looked at me, his eyes filled with pain."My family," he sa
AARON"Rory!" I shouted, following behind. I wasn't going to let her face the witches alone! But the witches weren't doing anything. Instead, they just looked at her with confusion in their eyes."Who are you?" one of them asked."It was me who put an antidote vial in your dinner and made it taste bland. I'm sorry for that," she straightened her shoulders. "Wendell was poisoning you.""I knew it," said the witch we heard seconds ago. "Poison ivy and nightshade."Chloe nodded breathlessly. "We have more antidote. We can give it to you and help your kind heal." The witches were now listening attentively."All I ask is that you return to our pack mansion and help us. We're under attack by Wendell and his hunters. We need your strength.""What do we gain from this? Otherwise, you won't give us the antidote?" Chloe threw our entire stock to them. I almost shouted, but I kept my composure."That's yours," she said. "I would never hide it from you. You deserve to be whole. I just want you to
The trees seemed to close in around me, their branches twisting and turning like gnarled fingers. The air was thick with the smell of damp earth and decomposing leaves. A low-lying mist hovered, obscuring my vision and making navigation on the winding path ahead challenging. It was as if the forest were alive, watching every move I made, waiting for me to let my guard down.A strange energy pulsed in the air, a low, almost inaudible hum impossible to ignore. Sometimes, the mist would dissipate, revealing glimpses of strange and deformed trees that seemed to have been shaped by ancient magic.Whispers in the wind, voices that seemed to call my name. It was as if I had stumbled upon a secret world, a place where the veil between the living and the dead was thin and permeable. The sun began to set, casting long shadows on the forest floor. "Let's camp here," Aaron whispered, uneasy. "It would be imprudent to hunt witches in the middle of the night." Nodding, I anointed the grass around h
ChloeThe trees towered above me, their branches stretching towards the sky. The scent of wildflowers filled the air. But as I ventured deeper into the forest, a sense of unease crept over me. Perhaps exploring alone wasn't such a good idea.I froze; my heart raced as a branch snapped in the undergrowth. I waited to see what would emerge. Then, without warning, a massive black wolf emerged from a bush and advanced straight toward me. With my heart pounding, I braced for the worst. But as the wolf approached, it stopped and looked at me with a gentle, almost human-like light in its eyes. Before I could react, it turned and disappeared into the depths of the forest. What was that? What just happened? My mind was a maze as I returned to the castle.I walked down the corridor towards the east wing, excitement building in my chest. Whatever happened, the library had become my sanctuary. I couldn't wait to explore the opulent space, rich in history and knowledge.Passing through the heavy w
The world was bathed in a golden light, and there, at the end of what seemed to be a vast meadow, were my mother and Selene, holding hands. I approached them, my heart full of admiration."Good job." My mother smiled. "We knew you could do it."Selene clapped her hands. "And now, because you believed, you've opened yourself to the greatest gift of all." My eyes gleamed as she handed me a ring with a unique moonstone."Whenever times get tough, dear daughter, plant your lips on this stone," she whispered, placing the ring on my index finger. This will connect your heart to mine through a silvery thread.I was momentarily blinded by the ring's glow, then my mother tenderly kissed my forehead. In this realm, she was very tangible."It's time for you to go."I looked at her eagerly, savoring every little detail. I had to store her in my memory, to cling to every bit of beauty her form contained."I wish I could take you with me." This was the child in me, saying things that reflected the
AaronRory dragged me away before I could say anything else to Eleanor, or mistreat her, just to be sure. She waited until we were in our room."What was that?" she growled. "How did you know what we were talking about?"I shuffled my feet. I didn't want her to know that I had mentally connected with her without her consent. But she had been so down in the past few days that I just wanted to know if I could help. She interpreted my silence as the worst."When are you going to stop playing?" she shouted at me, clenching her fists. "Whenever you stop this madness," I retorted. "Are you insane? How can you think that death is the answer? That witch is lying to you."Chloe turned towards the door, ready to storm out in anger. I grabbed her hand and pulled her towards me."Please, Rory, please, listen to me.""Just leave me alone."**The annual Iliamna fair was in full swing as I walked through the bustling crowd, still weighed down by the last encounter with Chloe. The aroma of fried doug
He responded with calm determination, his eyes never leaving mine."You're weak, Aaron," I spat. "If you run, it means you're choosing your own life over hers. You're not a true alpha!"Aaron's eyes gleamed, and he growled, "I am a true alpha.""And I will never leave Chloe. She is my mate, my love, my everything."We continued to fight, our bodies colliding and exploding with ferocity. The forest trembled with the strength of our magic and limbs, and the air was thick with the smell of sweat and blood.Suddenly, we were interrupted by a voice, and we both turned to see Chloe standing behind us, her eyes wide with fear and confusion."Stop this! Both of you! This isn't helping anyone!"Aaron and I halted, our eyes still locked on each other. Slowly, we lowered our hands, and the magic dissipated. We stood in silence, panting, our bodies tense and ready to fight.Chloe took a step forward, her eyes moving from me to Aaron and back. "What's happening?" she asked, her voice trembling.Aa
"So, you might want to return this baby to where she belongs." I sighed, exhausted. "What's wrong with these hunters, Kala? How can they separate children from their homes?"Her voice trembled as she replied, "Heartless, that's what they are."I nodded. I had more business to take care of. — "I'll trust you to ensure she gets home safely. Do you know where Eleanor is?""I saw her heading towards the northern edge of the forest, Alpha. She seemed determined to walk by moonlight. She's funny."I growled in frustration. The last thing I wanted to do was wander through the forest now. I wanted to be with Chloe. Cronnos suffered for her, and so did I. But I needed this to happen too. Because what if this was the antidote? What if this could help bring the witches' collective to our side? It would be a significant victory against Wendell.I looked at my clothes. Sure enough, I had the baby's hair on my shirt. Well, the final ingredient, ready. So, I gathered the ingredients and headed to th
She was all alchemy, magic flying at the tips of her fingers, her touch was fire and soul. I pulled her close and kissed her back, letting my tongue dance against hers. Our hands rose to embrace each other, mine firmly entwined around her waist. She sighed my name. Before I realized it, I laid her down on the ground, and my lips were on her nose, eyes closed, forehead and neck, traveling up to the delightful curves of her chest."I love you," I murmured against her neck, lovingly licking the place where I marked her as mine. "I love you today, tomorrow, and in a thousand other universes.""Well, isn't that touching?" The mature and melodious voice sounded as if someone had stabbed a knife into a stone. I gritted my teeth and sat up.Chloe seemed visibly disturbed. "Eleanor! I thought you had retired for the night."She looked from her to me, disapproval and a strange gleam in her eyes. "Yes, but the night was so beautiful that I felt like a walk was in order."Why did she always have
