AURORA BRADLEY’S POV
I stand before my parents, shaking fearfully. Someone from my class told them I left with a man. I can't help but think about what that handsome devil said to me. My friends aren't good people, they set me up.
“Aurora, are you going to speak or do you need me to jog your mind?” My dad shouts, and raises his hand to slap me for the first time in my life.
I shout in terror and run outside the house, not minding that I'm barefoot and dressed in just a bathrobe. A fleet of luxury cars drives into our compound, making me stop just below the stairs.
My parents also stop chasing me and stand at the door behind me, watching the spectacle. Neighbors begin to gather and look out their balconies, same with passersby.
Four Rolls Royce and three Maybachs, all limited edition and customised parks before our small town house. They must have missed their way, we don't know anyone that rich. Even my boyfriend from a rich family can't afford a Rolls Royce, talk more of moving in a convoy.
Guards dressed in black suits and sun shades got down from the car. They opened the fourth Rolls Royce, and a man dressed in an expensive suit got down from it. But why does the man look so familiar?
The guards are carrying briefcases, and follow the man who seems to be the leader. That nose and lips look very familiar. Where have I seen it?
He removes his sun shades and smiles at me, making my heart skip multiple beats. It's him, the handsome demon.
“Hello sunshine!” He says and smiles at me. I immediately stagger, and he catches me in his arms, making our eyes meet. My heart is doing that again, racing like a wild horse. What's wrong with me?
He looks up at my mom who is holding the wooden spatula which she used to frighten me for sleeping out, and his eyes narrow.
“You didn't hit her with that, did you?”
“Ah? She's my daughter. Will I actually beat her?” My mom stutters, still in shock.
“That's good then. Otherwise, you will have your arm in a cast for a while.” He says and carries me up, making his way into the house like he owns it.
I snap out of my daze and immediately slap his shoulders.
“Put me down, you psycho!”
He smiles and sets me down, before making his way to the sofa. He sits down and looks around. His eyes linger on the photo of my grade school graduation ceremony. I hate the smile on his face as he watches the pictures, I so wish to wipe it off.
“Who are you? And why are you here?”
“I'm Leonardo Cassano. I'm here to seek your daughter's hand in marriage.” He says with that coldness that never seems to depart from him. The only time he smiled was when he looked at my picture. At other times, he just seems so cold and distant.
“Are you crazy? I have a fiancé whom I love so much. Get out of my house.” I scream and try to drag him out. But he applies a little pressure and I find myself tumbling into his lap.
“Your shitbag boyfriend is not qualified to compete with me. A mere sneeze from me can squash him to death. Besides, it's not in your place to refuse.” He says and turns to my father.
“I want to get married to Aurora, you won't regret it.”
His men open the briefcases and my eyes immediately widen with shock.
Two suitcases containing bars of gold, three suitcases filled with stacks of hundred dollar bills, one containing jewelry, another containing property deeds, and one briefcase containing car keys.
This, this, this. Isn't this something that only happens in movies? How can someone have so much? All these are definitely upto a billion dollars or more.
“Leonardo Cassano?” My mom whispers, her body shaking. Her face turns white, and she collapses against the wall.
“Im-po-ssi-ble! Get out now!” My dad roars and points at the door.
“Consider it carefully. With me as your son-in-law, you won't have to worry about money all the days of your life.” He then looks around our house with a condescending gaze before he continues.
“You will move out of this shack, have mansions to yourself, fleets of expensive cars, and private jets. Anything you ask for, I will let you have. And most importantly, no man can love your daughter better than I do. Her boyfriend is not worthy of her.” He says with that same arrogance and coldness that I find incredibly annoying.
“I don't need your dirty money steeped in the blood of the innocent. Get out, now!” Dad roars in fury. I have never seen him so angry.
“Calm down, father in-law. I'm not a bad person.” Leonardo whispers in an uninterested tone, tapping away on the armrest.
“If you, Leonardo Cassano, are not a bad person, who is? Should I give you a run down of your biography? Leonardo Cassano, leader of the Cassano family mafia, and assassins league's underground army, who ascended to power after killing his father, uncle and two cousins. After he ascended, he expanded the Cassano empire to all of northern America, some parts of South America, East Asia, Europe, and Africa. On the surface, he's the genius CEO of JK group. But he's actually the mysterious demon whom different countries of the world are after. With such a reputation, you dare come here to harass my little girl?” Dad shouts, his eyes red with fury.
I have never seen my level headed dad so furious and resentful. And most importantly, the handsome demon's biography terrifies me. He's that Leonardo Cassano? And he didn't kill me when I slapped him in the morning? Did dad make a mistake?
Impossible! Dad is a retired member of the secret service, the information must be correct. Besides, who else but the deadly Leonardo Cassano can afford such luxurious dowry worth billions of dollars?
He sighs at that moment, drawing my attention.
“You seem to know too much, father in-law. But I don't mind. Soon, we will become a family and there would be no need to hide things between us. And for the last time, I never harassed your daughter. It should be the other way around. I'm getting married to Aurora, whether you approve or not. I only came to inform you.”
The nerves! He came to ‘inform’ us that ‘he’ is getting married to ‘me’. As what?
“This psycho!” I mutter through gritted teeth, unable to form coherent words. I must have gone dumb from anger.
“Mr Cassano, get out of my house. Marrying my daughter is impossible, not after your men killed my only son. And most importantly, your money can't move us. If you don't leave now, you won't like my reaction.”
He turns silent at this point and looks at me with an expression I can't read.
“Your son dying in the hands of the Cassano Vikings was an accident, one I regret deeply. It's worthy of note that since I took over the Cassano empire, we have not done the kind of business I'm sure you're thinking about. We no longer trade illegal goods.”
His words finally wakes me up. I went numb the moment I heard he was the one who killed my brother. Tears roll down my cheeks and I rush to him, delivering a hot slap to his cheek.
“Get out! Now!” I scream, not recognizing my own voice.
Leonardo stands up, sighs and wipes my tears, surprising me.
He waves his men away and smiles at my parents.
“I will be back. I will never give up on Aurora. Howard Bradley, giving your daughter to me is a decision you will never regret. Farewell, anticipate my next visit.”
His words sound more like a threat, terrifying me.
The moment he crossed the door, I let out the scream of anger I have been holding back. If murder is not illegal, I would have killed him immediately. The murderer of my brother whom I have been searching high and low for actually spent a night with me! Aurora Bradley, you must have gone crazy. Just you wait. Leonardo Cassano I will destroy you.
AURORA BRADLEY'S POVIt has been one week since the psycho visited our house and made a scene. It seems like he had given up. I should feel relieved, but I keep having this nagging feeling of foreboding. As if something is about to go wrong. “I wonder what William is doing?” I mutter and fish out my phone to call my boyfriend, William. I called him ten times, but it just won't connect. If I don't know better I would have thought that he blocked me, which is ridiculous. William loves me a lot. He's very devoted and caring. Once I graduate next year, we will get married, and I can put all these drama behind me. I feel someone appear behind me. The hairs on my body stand on edge, and goosebumps cover every inch of my skin. I have never felt so afraid, not even when facing Leonardo, the demon that rules Northern America's underground. I quickly turn around and swing a punch. However, before it can connect with the target, I feel something hard hit my neck and I immediately black out.**
Leonardo shifts my singlet up and exposes my boobs, startling me. Before I can cover myself or fight him off, his lips latch onto my nipple, making my heart jump out of my body. His hand is also caressing my thighs, messing with my brain. I shake my head to chase away the feelings and immediately slap him. He looks up at me and bites his lips, looking straight into my eyes. “I couldn't stop myself, I'm sorry.” He whispers without sincerity. He will definitely do it again if he gets the chance. He fishes out a clean white handkerchief from his pocket and wipes the liquid from between my legs, carefully drying my panties. A bell goes off in my mind as I realize what I just did. I let my brother's murderer touch and pleasure me. I'm damned. “You, do you take me for a slut you can toy with as you please?” I growl angrily, quickly adjusting my clothes as tears sting my eyes. “No sweetheart. You're my angel. You're the only woman I have touched in many years. I…” He sighs at this point.
AURORA BRADLEYCold sweat covers my skin as I walk out of the elevator holding the contract in my hand. William's condition for pushing the wedding forward was to help him secure a multi million dollar contract with Apex group. According to him, the chairman is harsh but principled, making him soft on women, which will make it easier for me to secure the contract. If he goes himself, it may not go smoothly. All these seem fishy and irrational to me, but securing the contract is the only way I can escape that psycho.Once William gets the deposit from the company after I secure the contract, he will add a part of it to my savings to finance the wedding. I have to push on to secure our future. Apex group is one of the most powerful conglomerates, securing a project from them will help William to upgrade his family's company, and our children won't have to suffer. I feel someone touch my hand and look at him. “Are you nervous?” William asks, smiling at me. “A bit.” I answer, trying my
AURORA BRADLEY'S POVHis offer to make a bet made me truly suspicious. Leonardo never takes on a challenge he's not sure of winning. Whatever happens, he will do everything to win. He's one of those people that do not have a bottom line. “What shameless and underhanded scheme are you concocting this time? What guarantee do I have that you won't try to manipulate things to your favor?” “Everything will be transparent, and you will be the sole judge. I will always stay here with you. When will I have the time to pull a fast one on you? I don't know what you heard about me from the tabloid or your parents, but I'm not a terrible person. I may be ruthless, but I'm a man of honor. I never act despicable.” He whispers fervently, holding my shoulders as his eyes begs me to believe him and give him a chance. “Fine. How do you want us to do it?” I mutter, looking everywhere but at his face. “That bastard sent you here as an offering to secure the contract. His intention which he relayed to
AURORA BRADLEY’S POVIn the past, whenever I saw William happy, I instinctively felt happy for him too. But not this time. I feel so disappointed that he was more interested in the contract than in my well-being. “William.” My voice finally attracts his attention, for he clears his throat and looks at me. But the way he's looking at me is different from the past, there's almost a hint of disdain. “Mmm. You did well. Good job. Let's go.” He says in brief sentences and quickly turns around, holding the contract like some treasure. I follow him not wanting to be left behind. “Disgusting. He's willing to betray his girlfriend for money. He doesn't know that the boss hates people like him the most. The idiot will learn the hard way.”“Poor girl, such a beautiful gem ended up in the hands of a pig.” I heard the guards whisper. At once, tears cloud my eyes and I begin to feel sorry for myself. Even the guards witnessed my humiliation, where will I put my face?****I just opened the fro
AURORA'S POVI think I'm mesmerized by the sight of him. It seems as if I just summoned a demon from hell to fight my battles. I hate the sight of blood, but at this moment, I can't help but cry in relief as I see the blood staining his hands. Knowing that it belongs to the beasts who wanted to devour me. He throws the thug away and he hits the wall convulsing. His men who were chasing after him finally catch up and fall on the thugs, giving them the beating of their lives. The sound of crushing bones suddenly doesn't feel offensive to me, I like it even. Leonardo pulls me into his arms and I break down, bawling like a baby and letting out all the tears, fears and resentment in my heart. I forget my animosity towards him and hug him tightly, crying my eyes out as he pats my back, whispering soft words of comfort that I'm really not paying any attention to. “My baby, sweetheart, don't cry, you break my heart. Shush, I will make them suffer a pain worse than death for having such tho
AURORA’S POV“Why isn't he here yet? How long does it take for a man to dress up and enter the damn car?” Rosa asks, pacing around. “Stop pacing. Why do you look even more worried than I, the bride?” I reply, pretending not to be affected. Mom and dad are looking very worried, Rosa my cousin isn't doing anything to hide her anxiety. I was also uncomfortable, knowing that William is already two hours late to such an important event. Is he bailing on me? I sigh and turn to my dad“His parents are already here and greeted the guests with you two. Something must be delaying him and his friends. Just instruct the caterers to entertain the guest. AURORA’S POV“William, what are you doing? Let her go!” My father shouts, rushing to separate us. William pushes me to him and dad quickly catches me. “William, I always thought you were a good child and supported my daughter's relationship with you. I never imagined that you are the kind of man that will raise your hands against a woman.” My dad whispers, not hiding the pain and disappointment in his heart. My mom also rushes to me. “Son, it's fine if you're angry with her. But is there a need to humiliate her like this? If you quarrelled with her, there's also a chance to settle things. If you fell out of love, you could have cancelled the wedding before today. If you suddenly realized at the altar that you were not ready, respectfully declining would have been okay too. But why did you choose the most painful way to humiliate our daughter? Yes, we're not from the same class. But we have never hidden our financial capabilities from you, we don't live fake life. Nor are we beggars
AURORA’S POVI look at Leonardo who is sitting at the other edge as the car sped towards the hospital. He suddenly smiles as if he thought of something funny, looking out the window, and this time, the smile is genuine and unintentional. “Psycho, why are you here?” I ask, putting on what I hoped was an intimidating no-nonsense expression. He turns to me, no longer smiling. “What's with your attitude? Is this the gratitude you are meant to show your savior?”“Answer me.”He ignored me and reached for his phone, treating my words like air. I huff in anger and turn the other way. After a while, I hear him chuckle and turn. “I heard the little bunny was getting married and rushed to stop the wedding. Who knew that the doomed wedding would stop of its own accord? Hahahaha.” Leonardo utters, his lips curling up in that annoying smirk that made it obvious he was mocking me. I roll my eyes, hiss, and turn away. He can insult me all he wants, I deserve it. “You actually thought a weddin
AURORA’S POVI rush to my father, taking his hand to check his pulse. I breathe out a sigh of relief when I feel his pulse. However it's very weak, far from steady. I quickly turn to the crowd to see if anyone can help us move him. However, dad's colleagues are nowhere to be found. They probably left when things got noisy. The ones remaining are gossipy neighbors and relatives, and those have no car. The rest were from William’s side, and I don't know any of them. “Rose? Where is she?” I shout, turning to mom. “Her boss's assistant arrived earlier than expected, she left when your dad was walking you down the aisle.” Mom replies with tears in her eyes. The boos from the crowd, laughing at me and telling me I killed my father make me feel like trash and I blink back tears, gritting my teeth to hold back the painful emotions. I quickly reach for my purse to order a ride. “There are fifteen orders ahead of you, you will be placed on queue. The wait duration is thirty minutes.” The a
