I arrived at an extremely famous law firm in order to look for a lawyer and inquire about bullying cases in high schools.

Benji couldn't just die for nothing. I mustn't let those bastards get away from murdering Benji scot-free. Soon, they'd definitely target other children.

Before I left the firm, I heard someone calling out my name.

"Eleanor Miller? Is that you?"

Raphael Westwood smiled brightly at me. He was just as cheerful and handsome as I remembered him to be.

I shot him a small smile. For some reason, I felt a little awkward to be facing Raphael. After all, he had once pursued me back in our university days.

"If you don't mind me asking, what are you doing at the firm? Is there anything I can help you with?"

Raphael handed me a glass of lemon water. He seemed to sense my hesitation, for he added with a smile, "I'm a business partner of this firm. You can always talk to me if you're facing any problems."

I raised my head, clearly shocked. Raphael's smile—kind and

"Yes! His portrait is still hung on the living room's wall! You never returned home for the past three days, so it only makes sense that you've never seen it!" I glared at Joshua furiously. Joshua shook his head slowly before backing two steps away from us. He was quick to turn on his heel and bolt away like a madman. Raphael looked at me worriedly. Then, he patted me on the shoulder gently. I knew I must look absolutely heartbroken right now. I could tell based on the concerned look on Raphael's face. Still, I shook my head at him, not wanting to reveal my vulnerable side. "I'll leave the cases to you then, Mr. Westwood." "You can call me Raphael." Raphael smiled gently at me. "Just like before." ... It was already midnight by the time I got home. The lights in the living room were still turned on. I made a beeline toward my bedroom without bothering to look at Joshua, who froze before Benji's portrait. "Honey…" I stopped in my tracks. A mixture of shock and sorr

By the time Rosalind rushed to my house, Joshua was calling for help anxiously. "Chief Lovett? Yes, it's me, Joshua Tucker. I'd like to ask you for a favor…" I opened the door with a stony expression. Rosalind glared at me with red-rimmed eyes, her expression frosty. "Where's Josh?" Upon realizing that I wouldn't respond to her, she tried to barge into my house. I reacted by kicking her in the stomach, causing her to fall. "Eleanor, have you gone crazy?" Rosalind shrieked. "Yeah. I've gone crazy. Hell, I went crazy the moment your son killed my son!" Rosalind averted her gaze immediately. Then, she began accusing me in that aggrieved tone of hers. "Kenny didn't beat your son up at all! On the contrary, your son was the one who slashed Kenny's arm! I haven't even settled the score with you about that matter!" I had never seen such a shameless woman in my entire life. "If you want to settle the score with me, then go ahead and call the police! I'd love nothing more than

Soon, the court gave its verdict. Kenneth and the other students, who were involved in Benji's case, were punished accordingly. At the same time, the court issued an incidental civil judgment. Kenneth was required to pay me compensation. As his guardian, Rosalind made the payment for him. However, I donated the compensation to the poor folks living in the rural mountain area right away. After that, Rosalind took a long break from work, so she never showed up at school. I heard that she moved out of her old home because the neighbors kept gossiping about her. Since Raphael uncovered evidence of Joshua receiving bribes, the latter was suspended from his position. He had been under investigation since then. It might seem as though my life had gone back to normal, but the truth was, I could never find my inner peace since then. Whenever I roamed the school grounds, I'd stop in my tracks from time to time because I thought I'd see Benji there. I could see Benji playing basketball

Joshua just stared at me, clearly dumbfounded. "What does this have to do with Rosalind?" "Since Rosalind left, you don't have anyone else to take care of. That's why you thought of me, right? But if she comes back, you'll still care for her and Kenneth the same way you did in the past, won't you?" Joshua frowned in exasperation. "I told you before that there's nothing going on between me and Rosalind. Why won't you just believe me?" I didn't expect Joshua to be this stubborn. Hence, I decided to tear down the mask of innocence that he had been desperately trying to maintain just so he could continue fooling himself with it. "If there really was nothing going on between you two, would she call you in the middle of the night just to get you to fix her Internet that had gone down? Would she lean against you while dressed in a seductive nightgown and snap a photo with you before uploading it on her social media page? "Don't be scared, Benji. I've already called an ambulance. Someone will be here to save you soon. Just hold on for a little longer, okay?" There was a trail of blood leading all the way to a cubicle inside the toilet. Just the sight was enough to sting my eyes. Benji had left the blood trail when he fled into the toilet earlier. I couldn't imagine just how scared he was, nor how much pain he had been suffering from… My body trembled as I clutched at Benji's forehead wound. But blood kept seeping through the gaps of my fingers. I couldn't stem the blood flow at all. I could hear an ambulance's sirens blaring from outside the window. "Benji, the ambulance is here! Help's coming for you!" But at that moment, Joshua Tucker ran past the window while cradling a boy in his arms. He headed for the ambulance right away. "Kenny, don't be scared! I won't let anything happen to you!" The ambulance left just as quickly as it had come. I could barely believe what I just witnessed.

When Benji's funeral was over, I headed to the hospital right away. Rosalind Lane's son, Kenneth Young, resided in a VIP ward. His arm was bandaged, and he could be seen chatting with Rosalind and Joshua animatedly. Joshua's expression crashed instantly the moment he saw me. He hurried out of the ward afterward. "Who told you to come here? Kenny's condition has just stabilized! Don't cause trouble for us, now!" "Joshua Tucker, your son is dead, and yet all you care about is another woman's son!" I roared at Joshua hysterically, earning shocked looks from Rosalind and Kenneth. Joshua's expression darkened even more. He pushed me further away from the ward before warning me, "Watch your mouth, Eleanor Miller! It's difficult for Rosalind to raise her son on her own! What's wrong with me lending her a helping hand as the principal? "Besides, Benji was the one who had been bullying Kenny all these years! He had slashed Kenny's arm, you know!
