Chapter Forty-Nine - The Conviction

Luna couldn’t focus all through the meeting. She barely heard a word, and that pissed her off. She might have joined the board for the gala as a step in her revenge plan, but she was a businesswoman, and she wouldn’t have joined the board if the project hadn’t shown promise of profit for her. And because she was a businesswoman, she also planned to contribute substantially to what was being done for the gala event. She didn’t plan on being a liability, Moira would be sure to remind her of it at every given opportunity if she was anyway.

And Justin, or rather his penetrating gaze, was a distraction to that. She couldn’t focus, she barely heard a word of what the speaker had said during the meeting, and who would? She thought to herself, when eyes that were dark like midnight seared into their skin.

She knew Justin well enough to know that that might have been his goal, that precisely. To unnerve her, make her uncomfortable, make her think of him. Like she was doing now.
