Chapter 66:  Irresistible Love

"Marry me, Prisley. It's that simple."

Prisley's face stiffened, her eyes widening with disbelief. She awkwardly pushed Mark away. "Don't joke around. It's impossible."

Mark’s grip tightened as he held her close, his breath warm against her ear. "Why not? I love you, and you like me. We're a perfect match," he said with a mix of hope and arrogance.

Prisley took a deep breath and pushed Mark away firmly. "Mark, you need to understand. We're from different worlds. Your family expects you to marry a wealthy heiress. We won’t have a future."

Her face flushed with pain. "I don't want to jump from one hopeless situation into another. Even though you’re kind and steady, marriage in your world is just a business deal."

Although Mark was interesting, steady, and deeply in love with her, Prisley knew that marriages in wealthy families were just business arrangements.

Mark’s face reddened, his breathing heavy. "Why can't we have a future? I can love whoever I want. No one can stop me!"
