But the words of Desmond struck like a sword into the air, and Isaac did not feel like he had been suddenly punched hard into the gut and knocked breathless. "Your sister is dead," he insisted with a firm voice stirring a tinge of sadness. "Stop deceiving yourself." Horror widened Isaac's eyes; his mind reeled in denial.

He started to shake his head, lips quivering while saying, "Don't be negative, okay? Please," he pleaded with a breaking voice.

Desmond's face-and voice-were steely, even when Isaac begged him. He relaxed his grip on the gun, now letting it fall unattended to the floor, looking into Desmond's eyes. And took one slow deliberate step forward, almost as if he was wrangling his body to move itself, saying, "I am set to leave with Adrian," his voice was emphatic, while Desmond flared into anger.

Desmond's face darkened with that, his eyes blazing with an inferno, and he said, "What shall I tell the boss then when he asks if you're here?" Isaac's eyes were fixed on Desmond'

As Desmond continued talking, "One day, I went to his house," and the voice was quite humble; the answer to that emotion was attached to each word."And asked him secretly," the memory floated by his conscience, "to give me her contact number." The air indeed bore the memory of that moment when he dared to find the one person, the very last, who had ever figured himself capable of so much kindness.Isaac narrowed his eyes and suddenly felt as if a frown had formed on his face. "Wait up, please," he spoke down, but with an edge of skepticism; "Your auntie means your uncle's sister, right?"A flash of pain and anger crossed Desmond's eyes as he remained shut-mouthed but caught glimpsing a very tight clench of his jaw. "Not really, my auntie," he replied with venomous words, "she wasn't really my auntie." The world seemed to vibrate with the tension thus created because one could almost feel the weight of Desmond's emotions."My uncle is a bad man," Desmond continued in a lowered voice,

Adrian drew in a deep contemplative breath, narrowing his eyes slightly in thought for the moment while pondering the intricacies of life. "Hmm... that is how you came to be an armed robber?" he asked, a mix of curiosity and compassion coloring his tone.Desmond nodded solemnly, failing to conceal shame and regret in his countenance. "Yes, sir, that is how it came to be," he replied quietly.Adrian looked intently at Desmond, searching the young man's face for telltale signs of either lying or an insincere appeal. All he saw instead was a deep yearning for forgiveness and a new chance in life. "And you say you want to go back to school, no?" he prodded gently.Desmond came alive, somehow alighting; glimmers of hope were now igniting in his eyes. "Yeah, sir, I do actually want to become a medical doctor," he stated with conviction embedded in it.Adrian pondered a little bit about this flow of consciousness. "Well, then," he pronounced, enunciating the words in a clear firm tone. "You

Hands on head. Burning it. "I know, but do not put the sins of the father upon the son, please." Well, the voice sounded desperate. It was weak with heart-torn appeals. The eyes were quite swollen with tears as though one were to pour water into them. Hands held together in prayer, rocking back and forth, he reminded everyone of the intense suffering. Forced to plead, lie, and prattle. The desperation in Desmond's voice was unmistakable, as if his heart were pouring out to plead. "I know, sir, but for God's sake, do not let the sins of the father be visited upon the son," he said, his eyes filled with tears; his hands were clasped in prayer, swaying back and forth as a reminder of the agony he had been through. Forced to beg, lie, and prattle.Adrian's face was a stony wall so that not even his eyes could move when he said, begging, his voice firm but much tinged with sadness- "You never can tell, you still have the blood of your father in you" as if to proclaim. "I'm sorry, but I can

The phone rang, an inaudible buzz amid conversation. Isaac looked down, his eyes dilating slightly as he saw the name on the display. Samuel, the boss. "It's the boss," he told Desmond and Adrian almost lowly, with some caution. The three of them remained frozen with expectation as they waited for Samuel to say something, anything, as to why he was calling. The atmosphere was thick with suspense and silence felt heavy."Why is he calling?" Desmond's question was a whisper tinged with an inquisitive note, his eyes glued to Isaac."I don't know," Isaac made an equally low reply. "Let's just hear him out." He hesitated for a moment, hovered his finger over the screen and finally picked up the call."Sir," Isaac pressed a steady note to that voice. Then he trained his ears again on Samuel, with eyes that could have shown hints of wariness but whose face remained untouched. The silence lengthened now and again, punctuated only by Isaac's muttered murmurings of approval. Others stood there

"So why don't you just go ahead and try? Samuel has an evil grin on his face. It looks so perfect on him." "And for you, Adrian, get your wife ready; you will see her tomorrow, minus her life. When he spoke, his voice had an acrid finality that shattered the already shaky illusions of hope.""This is enough, Samuel," he started. He interrupted himself in the middle of his sentence, almost stammering through it. The anguish was deep: "Please refrain from harming my wife anyhow. She means the world to me." His mind was pleading, imploring Samuel to spare his wife's life."Ah, your beautiful wife-the one you seem to care so much about-hanging there," Samuel said, thoroughly entertained. "How do you think you're gonna bribe my boys, so they will side with you?"The venom in his tone was unmistakable. "I will destroy you, Adrian; I will make you completely incapable. Your entire generation will perish. You have my word," Samuel spat his threat like a curse-word.The room was silent now, he

Isaac led him into a deep bush, their body sealed with very thick foliage. The air was heavy with damp earth, decaying leaves, and when the only sound was the soft rustling of leaves and snap of twigs beneath their feet, Adrian followed closely behind Isaac, his eyes wondering themselves in a kind of anticipation-meets-trepidation survey of their surroundings."How are you familiar with this place?" Adrian asked, just above whispering into Isaac's ear. Isaac said not a word for a while and kept his eyes painstakingly searching the dense underbrush ahead."I just happened to be out wandering one day when I found Samuel sitting there with some people," Isaac said at last, low and measured, "and then I knew it was the inner chamber." The words hung in the air like a challenge, and the eyes of Adrian narrowed slightly at the processing information.A few months later, they reached the clearing, and suddenly Adrian's eyes opened wide in shock, for there lay the footwear of Jenny on the flo

The other two men continued to come closer with their footsteps pounding the ground in relentless chase. They were shooting bullets towards Adrian's car, the gunfire echoing through the air. Starting with a rev, Adrian's car went off, tires screeching as he rode away from the danger. The raw roar of the engine echoed through the air and, in spirit, shook the very foundations of the earth.Adrian, driving like the wind, witnessed his speedometer needle rise and fall a hair's breadth from the upper limits. Isaac and Desmond were so thrilled that their faces glowed with joy and relief. "Yoooo!" They were vociferating, gravely hoarse from the excitement. The atmosphere was thunderous inside the car, filled with buoyancy while speeding away from impending attack.A few minutes later, they reached home, the car crunching softly on gravel as it pulled in front of the house. Adrian, the two men, and I got out, tired faces etched with relief. "Come in," I said to them, with a warm, welcoming v

With open arms around Isaac, a big smile was painted across my face. "How are you, how have you been?" I asked, my voice breaking with emotion. The little sparkle in Isaac's eyes as he said, "I'm fine, Aunty Jenny," was more than enough for me. I looked into his little face, taking in every detail of it, and without fail, I had to hug him again because being back in those arms made all that feeling just so aware."I was looking for you, and I couldn't see you," Isaac explained, excitement and relief mixing in his voice. "I walked to where you were working so they could trace your phone, but they couldn't trace you." Each new word I heard tugged at my heart, and Isaac's eyes bore into mine, telling me of the urgency and fear that had spurred him on to find me."I had no option but to go to Uncle Samuel for he could assist and give you contact," Isaac continued, his voice trembling with emotion. I felt guilt and remorse hit me as Isaac recounted everything he had been through because of

ZARA POVSuspended in the sweet expectancy that wraps the silence before the storm crashes, Adrian's eyes-primarily intense-barbed my own and set fire to a gaze locked in singular focus. Among the very first words he uttered was, "Where's the video?". It was such a low and husky voice-black like the purr of a satisfied cat-and made me smile slowly, enigmatically, as I reached for my phone, fingers closing about it like a gentle vice."Here it is," I said softly and melodiously while passing the phone over to Samuel. The moment he grabbed it, his eyes lit up in excitement as a child on a special day opening a birthday present. He started watching the video, the glow of the screen softly lighting his face-the dirty eyes glued to the images that swept across the screen. A low, appreciative rumble crawled out of his chest like distant summer-thunder rumble.Very well done, Zara. This was what he said to me and I could hear the purest possible tone of awe in his voice. Inside my chest, I f

ZARA POVComing from a luxurious bathroom, satisfaction welled up within like warm, soothing balm spreading in veins. Passion was with Adrian, and I knew only too well that I had really captured him even if it were just for a brief while. The lingering moment of lovemaking was left floating around as a hazy, sweet, intoxicating intoxication that refused to lift.Adrian lay there, staring back at me. His soft spreading chest rose and fell, not fast, still at all. Golden light lit softly over him, warming his features, and suddenly, so much emotion could swell my heart. I wanted him not to bother, break that stillness of a moment, so I moved very quietly, with footsteps so soft, they barely touched the floor. My gaze strayed to the watch lying like an elegant silver thing amid all that warmth and intimacy about the room. I picked it up, feeling the cool touch of metal against the skin, as I hesitated over what, exactly, to do next. I should keep the pants here, I thought, gazing upward

It seemed Adrian's body relaxed, muscles eased; as if savoring it, he let out a soft sigh, closing his eyes. I gently pulled his pants down as if my fingers brushed his skin, sending shivers down his spine. But just as things were getting steamy, suddenly from Adrian came the voice that clearly demanded,"Just stop it," he said. Words cut through air like a knife through silk, leaving no room for interpretation. I didn't want to hear that, nor did I want to stop. Something more swept over me with the tide of fire running through my veins. I kissed him forcefully,As I continued to romance him, my hands mapping him out with my fingers, whispering sweet nothings in his ear, I could feel him swell in his devotion, the fiery love he harbored inside almost at a boil. ZARA POV"You can't do this," Zara said, her voice firm, complete with firmness, standing before me with eyes full of anger and hurt. Regret and guilt stabbed at me as I understood I had injured her.But Adrian's voice was low and husky in my ear, his words a dripping temptation. I just want you to f****** me, he whispered, sending shivers down my spine, making my heart race in steep anticipation. Adrian looked surprised as his eyes widened and his face quickly turned into a mask of shock, staring at me with his mouth open in a silent gasp."What do you mean you are here, Zara?" he growled almost immediately, his voice awfully low and filled with fury. He pushed me away, his hands on my shoulders and fingers pressing hard on my skin. I fell on the floor with just a little loud thud, my palms scraping against the cold surface. "Arrrr!" I screamed, resonating through the silence while looking up at Adrian, my eyes were filled with anger and deep resentment with my heart thumping fast.Adrian didn't seem to care for the yelling. His expression remained indifferent, his eyes cold and hard. I had to make an opportunity out of it; an opportunity to seduce him,

ZARAH POVMemories of the past flooded my mind, as I stood there, my heart racing with anticipation, my soul burning with desire. I couldn't wait to have Adrian back in my life, to feel his arms around me, to taste his lips on mine. The thought of him had always consumed me, body and soul. I had always been jealous of Jenny, my best friend, who had taken him away from me.The pain of their betrayal still lingered, a raw wound that refused to heal. I remembered the day I found out about their relationship, the way my heart shattered into a million pieces, the way my world came crashing down around me. I had shouted, screamed, and cried, my emotions raw, my pain palpable. I had slammed my hands on the table, the sound echoing through the silence, as I vowed to get him back."Get ready," I had said, my voice low, menacing, "you will soon come back to me." The words had been a promise, a threat, a vow. I had meant every word, every syllable. I went to my wardrobe and opened it, my heart r

SAMUEL POVI stood there in the dim light, fury in my eyes and thunder in my voice, confronting the two men tasked with the protection of Jenny. "What did Adrian do to rescue Jenny?" I shouted, anger and great incredulity in my tone. The men before me cowered, their eyes averted from mine, shoulders sagging in defeat."I don't know, sir," one stuttered, almost trembling in fear. "They were stronger than us...," he almost whispered at the end. I let out a snort of disgust, lips curling in contempt. "Mtchewwwww, just get out!" I exploded while wildly gesturing towards the exit, sending them away from my sight.I paced the room, furious thoughts of Adrian flooding into my brain regarding how he had outfoxed me yet again. "I will not allow Adrian to beat me," I muttered incidentally under my breath in a low menacing tone, which picked quickly to a scream, "No, he can't win!" The sound ricocheted off the walls.I stopped pacing, suffocating an emotion that he had invented and now was takin

Refreshing was the day after. My body felt so fresh after sleep, my mind feeling so completely revitalized, with senses all super alert; I stretched my arms above my head, arched back, and finally stretched the legs, letting out a long sigh of relief, a soft soothing sound that washed over me.My eyes turned toward the spacious room. I took in every detail, every nuance: Adrian was no longer beside me, the absence filling the space: an absence that was present, a gaping hole that echoed. This led to some curious dawning’s in me, little wonderings that sparked a whole fire of questions in my mind. If wondering, then where actually is he? And my mind began to imagine: "Where would he be?" I think my voice is a mere whisper, with a soft, silent query that only I could hear."Honey," came my call, huskily inflected, gentle, a caress of soothing sound in the air. "Yes, my love," came the reply from Adrian, low and smooth, dripping with affection, inviting warmth." "I'm over here," he added

Adrian would take a cup of alcohol, and I at the same time would do the same, our eyes meeting in a toast, as we clinked our cups together. In the next 20 minutes, we got high, the music and laughter blending with wild screaming and dancing as we forgot our worries and cares. The club sounded alive, the music pumping and flashing lights in ecstasy, as we were letting it all out and taking off our inhibitions like clothes thrown aside. It was already night; darkness outside seemed to press in as we danced, swaying and moving in perfect harmony with feet. He was so drunk, staggered and ridiculous, eyes glassy, and so slurred were his words. He said he would drive us back home, his voice firm and eyes steady as he took the keys from Adrian. "I'll drive," he said calmly.By the time we came home, we stumbled into the room, our feet dragging, arms holding on
