Chapter 23: An Urgent Letter

A letter came to Rosalind’s apartment when Gabriel’s maids were packing Rosalind’s items. It was inserted below her apartment’s door. A maid found it and called Gabriel right away.

“Sir, there is a letter for Miss Miller. It is written as ‘URGENT’ on the envelope,” the maid said.

Gabriel frowned. What could be an important matter until the sender needed to mark it as urgent? “Okay. Ask a courier to send the letter to my office right now.”

“Yes, sir.”

After twenty minutes, Gabriel received the letter. He flipped the envelope to see if there was anything else written there. However, it was nothing. Suddenly, his hunch urged him to open the letter. So carefully he opened the envelope with a cutter and read the letter.

It was short. ‘Miss Miller, please fetch your brother right away. He is in a terrible addicted condition right now. If you don’t come right away, he may die shortly.’ Then there was an address to go to. The address was somewhere near the dock.
