Chapter 4

I was still pretty surprised about the fact that I had an interview with the Ashford group, they were like the biggest company in Manhattan. I picked up my phone and dialed Eva’s number of which she picked up almost immediately. “Yo, I just left your place and you are missing me already?” She said and I rolled my eyes “I command you to stop feeling important, I didn’t call you because I was missing you.” I said and heard a long pause on the phone “Are you going to talk or are we going to keep doing breathing competition?” She snapped and I rolled my eyes “I have an interview tomorrow with Ashford group of companies, did you apply for me because I can’t remember applying for the job?” I asked, “Nope, I didn’t... you probably applied for the job while you were at the club and didn’t take note of it but again that is not the issue, You have an interview scheduled for tomorrow right?” She asked again and I nodded but facepalmed myself “Yes, by 9 am tomorrow.” I replied to her.

“What does the job entail, first and foremost?” She asked “Personal assistant .” I replied her “That is not the issue though, “How do I leave this house without Mr. Wendy noticing me? He has cut off my water supply, making life much difficult for me.”

“That son of a goat., how dare him cut of your water?” She cursed and I smiled. “What do I do, Eva? I have to go for this interview tomorrow.”

I say and heard nothing over the phone “Eva!” I snapped and heard her hiss loudly “Shut it, will you? I was trying to think of a solution. Okay I got it, How about you gather you clothe and shoes, basically everything that you will need tomorrow and come to my place. You can leave from my house.” She said and I thought about it. “Okay, I am not in the position to decline anything, I will get everything I will need and come to your place,” I replied and cut the call.

I immediately searched for the company online and gasped, It’s not like I don’t know the company, It was the biggest company in Manhattan, they weren’t based on just one thing. No! They were industrious in every sector, had companies all over the globe that you had to be dead or living in a rock to say that you didn’t know ‘Ashford’

I got off the bed and pulled out my clothes box from where it was, I still had clothes that I could wear so that wasn’t a big deal, I brought out a bag and put in a black skirt and a cream camisole, putting a black jacket with it and a pair of black shoes. I put in everything I could need and silently hoped that I passed the interview because I needed to give Mr. Wendy his money by all means.

After I was done packing, I changed into a pair of blue shorts and a white round neck top, Tying my hair into a ponytail and placing the bag against my back, It was time I left and hopefully I get the job when I get back here.

I gently peeped outside to see if the coat was clear and thankfully it was clear, I hurried out of the room and locked the door, still checking left and right in case Mr.Wendy shows up. I ran out of the house and burst out to the road.

I had no money with me so I had no choice but to walk. I started my journey to Eva’s club and in some time I got to the club panting really hard. “Look who is here, after spending the night with a stranger.” Natalie said and I looked at her baffled “Wow, Just wow, Nat. I thought with all the beauty you allegedly possess then you should be smart but No! You had to show your qualities to me.” I snapped at her and she gasped “You brat, how dare you?” She shrieked and I rolled my eyes “If you keep yelling then It wouldn’t take time for your voice to match your face, Ugly!” I sneered and walked past her into the club.

“What has gotten you so worked up?” I heard a man’s voice and turned to see Bounty walking towards me “Your girlfriend!” I snapped and he looked shocked.

Did he really think that nobody in the club knew how much he was lusting and crushing on that she-goat? “What do you mean?” He asked and I sighed “Sorry, I didn’t mean anything. Where is Eva?” I asked and he looked at me suspiciously “She is at the bar.”  He said and I nodded. I walked towards the bat section where I saw Eva flirting with Dan, A new bodyguard at the club. I couldn’t resist the urge to roll my eyes. “Eva! Your husband has been calling me endlessly, Here take it and speak to him, he said your daughter won’t stop crying.” I said and passed her my phone, She looked at me confused then at the new bodyguard who looked confused and embarrassed that he hasten his steps and walked away.

“Why Adeline? Why did you do this to me?” She whined and stomped her feet repeatedly, I rolled my eyes at her behavior “Cockblocker!” She grumbled and I chuckled “Yeah yeah, call me whatever you want.” I said and took a seat on the bar stand. Dan walked by a few minutes later and she tried to talk to him but he wouldn’t even wait and listen to her. If looks could kill then I would’ve been 6ft below but thankfully it couldn’t.

I spent the rest of the day at the club and when it was time to open fully, I took my bag and left there, I had to wake up early and be active for my interview tomorrow.  Nat kept grumbling and throwing daggers at me but I couldn’t care less, No one asked her to be stupid.

I got to Eva’s home and used her key to open the door “Who is it?” I heard someone yell from the kitchen and I paused “Adeline!” I yelled back and waited? A few seconds later a redhead came out from the kitchen with an apron on and a stirring spoon. “Hey Adele, Eva isn’t here at the moment.” Selina says and I nodded “I know, I’m sleeping over for tonight, I hope it is okay with you?” If there was one thing I hated it was inconveniencing people. “Pfft.. of course not, feel free Adele.” She said and attempted to walk back into the kitchen but paused “I’m cooking white rice and veggies, care for some?” She asked me and I smiled “No thank you, Selina, I am full already.” I replied and picked my bag from the floor and walked towards the room.

I sighed and dropped my bag on the floor, I could only hope and pray that I get this job.
