~Maya~
As the sun’s rays penetrated through the room, I squinted my eyes open weakly. Yawning, I stretched as I got up from the bed. Turning to my side, my eyes widened in disbelief as I saw a naked man beside me. “It couldn’t be, could it?” I muttered to myself. Rubbing my forehead, I tried recalling events that took place last night, but all efforts were futile. Unable to bear the shock, I rose from the bed swiftly. Picking up my clothes from the floor, I slid into them as quickly as I could and staggered away from the room. My legs trembled from the intense actions of last night, posing difficulty in my escape. Making my way to the streets, I hailed a cab and got in swiftly. “Take me to Greene Street,” I muttered, breathing heavily as I rubbed my head. Riding in silence, I pulled out my phone and began glancing through numerous unanswered texts. Reminiscing on the scene I woke up to, I covered my mouth with the palm of my hands as tears rolled down my eyes. Delving deep into my thoughts, I wondered how I was going to tell my boyfriend, Andrew. He had always wanted to be intimate with me, but I had stopped him in his tracks multiple times. And now? Here I was, without dignity or face. Arriving on Greene Street, I paid the fare and made my way out of the taxi swiftly. Taking deep breaths, I placed my hand around my neck in search of something. “Shit!” I exclaimed, frustrated as I felt my empty neck. I had forgotten my locket in the hotel room. Frustrated, I wrinkled my forehead and bit my lips. That was the only thing left to me by my biological parents, and now? I’d lost it?! Exhaling deeply, I arranged my hair as I strode towards my home. My mind raced with thoughts of how my boyfriend was going to react to my ordeal. We had been dating for five years and were very much in love. Although we’d never been intimate, I preferred leaving it till our wedding night. Wrapping my arms around my body, I felt a chill run down my spine. I could feel my legs threatening to go numb as I approached the door. “You can do this, Maya, it’s not your fault anyways,” I muttered, in a bid to comfort myself. Swinging the door open, I walked into the house. My jaw dropped to the floor as my eyes met the most shocking scene of my life. Blinking my eyes repeatedly in disbelief, I rubbed them to be sure I wasn’t hallucinating. Fear gripped me as I realized it was reality. There he was, my boyfriend, Andrew Harrison, being intimate with my best friend, Katherine Hart. My jaw dropped to the floor as I yelled, “What the hell!” Shocked by my sudden appearance, Andrew and Katherine stopped in their tracks, as they looked at each other bewildered. Katherine in particular was shocked to see me standing in front of her. Rising from the bed, Andrew picked his shirt up from the floor, swinging it over his shoulders as he strode towards me. “Care to explain what’s going on?” I asked, cocking my brow towards Andrew. Deep down, I wished he was drunk and this was all a nightmare. I had dreamed about both of us getting married and having kids together, and yet, this is all I get? “You don’t deserve one,” Andrew stated coldly, staring at me emotionlessly. I couldn’t understand his words. Was this a joke? “I don’t understand. Yesterday we had a fight and today you’re hooking up with my best friend?” I stated in disbelief. I felt I was in a dream and wished to wake up from this nightmare, but reality hit me hard. “You say I’m hooking up with your best friend?” Andrew asked, arching a brow as he took steps towards me. Standing directly in front of me, he grabbed my neck, rubbing his hands on the intimate marks left by the stranger. “So what’s this then?” Andrew asked, his voice filled with disgust as he scoffed. “It wasn’t my fault. I was in the bar with Katherine and then…” “Enough!” Andrew yelled, cutting my explanation short as he glared at me. “You were at the bar with Katherine? How come she was with me all night if you were in the club with her!” Hearing Andrew’s words, my world fell apart. I couldn’t believe what I just heard. All night? Could it be they’ve been having an affair behind my back, making me a fool? “That’s not possible, I was with Katherine,” I stated firmly. Drifting my gaze from Andrew to Katherine, I pleaded desperately, “Please tell him, tell him the truth. I was drugged last night and almost taken advantage of. You were with me at the bar.” “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Katherine said timidly. Hearing her words, I fell to my knees as it dawned on me; I was betrayed by my best friend and boyfriend. Tears welled up in my eyes as they flowed down uncontrollably. I cried silently as the harsh reality of my situation engulfed me. Unable to bear the shock,I rose to my feet as I palmed my face dry. Biting my lips, I looked at both of them with disgust. “You both disgust me!” “Disgust you? You had fun with that damn b*stard last night, and here you are calling us disgusting? If I hadn’t received the pictures, I would’ve fallen for your damned acting!” Hearing his words, I could feel my heart shatter into a million pieces. I had hoped that at least he would comfort me and support me through this difficult time. I hoped that he would believe me, but I was hit with a hard truth. “You really believe I did this on my own accord?” I asked, my breath shuddering as my heart raced. I hoped to get a negative response. I didn’t want to believe I had lost everything in the span of few hours. “There’s no need pretending, Maya, you’re just a wh*re.” Hearing his words, I dried my tears with the palm of my hands as I rose to my feet. Clenching my fists, I swung my hands towards Andrew, slapping him hard. “Crazy bitch!” Katherine yelled as she got out of bed. Rushing towards Andrew, she cupped his face in her hands as she massaged him softly. “What’s your problem!” Katherine scolded, glaring at me viciously. “You’re both lucky I only hit him. Lord knows I would’ve stabbed you both repeatedly,” I stated firmly. Giving a final glance at them, I spat on Katherine’s face as I made my way out of the once happy home I knew.~Adrian~Waking up to the insistent ringing of my phone, I squinted my eyes open weakly as I yawned. Stretching my hands towards the table, I grabbed my phone, pulling it close to my ear as I answered coldly, “Yes.”“Good morning Mr. Steele, we apologize for the flight delay. It was a misinformation; you’re set to take off by twelve-thirty this afternoon,” the director of the airport stated.Hearing his words, I ended the call abruptly, as I kept my phone aside. Looking to the side of the bed, my eyes widened in disbelief as I was met with an empty bed.“Where’d she go?” I muttered to myself, running my hands through my hair.Drifting my gaze to the corners of the room, a shiny jewelry caught my attention from the side of the bed. Stretching towards it, I picked it up as I glanced at it's features. Narrowing my eyes, I studied it intently.Drawing it close to my nose, I realized it had the same scent as the woman from last night.Knock! My thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the d
~Adrian~I remained silent, reminiscing on last night’s encounter with the stranger as we drove through the streets. Her soft moans echoed in my ears as I bit my lips softly. Rubbing my chin, I delved deeper into my thoughts, hoping to find her soon.“Sir?” Henry called out, disrupting my thoughts.“Huh?” I responded, turning my gaze to Henry.“Sir, I’ve been talking about the project,” Henry stated, eyes widened in disbelief as he palmed his face.I could tell he was agitated, discovering he’d been talking to himself the entire time. I had never been distracted from work. My sudden change of attitude left Henry speechless.“Oh, the project, right,” I said, smacking my lips as I took the file from Henry’s hands.Glancing through it, I furrowed my brows, wrinkling my forehead. I couldn’t understand a word that was written down. Blinking my eyes repeatedly, I tried going through the file once more, but the results were the same.Staring at me with widened eyes, Henry scoffed in disbelie
~Maya~Walking down the street, I delved deep in my thoughts. I had just booked a flight to California, luckily there was one more seat available.I wanted to forget everything, I was tired of the hurt I had to endure. Deep down, I hoped it was unreal. I hoped I’d wake up from this nightmare, but reality had other plans for me.Reminiscing on past events, I couldn’t help but wonder, what pictures Andrew talked about earlier. What really happened last night. I was sure as hell I was with Katherine until she left to use the bathroom.I tasted something off in my drink and after that, everything went blank. The only thing I could remember was darkness and the stranger’s deep voice. Not watching my surrounding, I walked into the street as I remained lost in thought.Honk!Crash! The bonnet of a speeding limousine collided with my stomach knocking me to the ground. Could it be he's my one night stand? Our eyes locked onto each other as our lips remained intertwined. Looking at the man underneath me, I felt a strange sense of familiarity which couldn't be explained."B*tch!"A woman yelled as she approached us angrily. Realizing I was still on top of him, I got up quickly arranging my clothes.Slap! Her hands grazed my cheeks harshly as she yelled, "Ungrateful b*tch! How dare you!"Ungrateful? What did she mean by that?"Enough!" The man yelled as he got up from the floor. Arranging his clothes, he glared at the woman angrily, "She saved my life! ~Adrian~Sitting at the restaurant, I was flustered. She literally walked out on me like I wasn't important, which I definitely wasn't used to."Your order..." The waiter said as he approached me. Looking at me, he wrinkled his forehead as he scanned the restaurant, "I'm sorry, there was a lady here who ordered for food," he said.Rolling my eyes, I fixed my gaze on him, "Do I look like her? She's obviously gone. Leave," I stated coldly, dismissing him with a wave of my hand. The nerve of that woman. Her absolute nonchalance towards me in a weird way, intrigued me as I became determined to know more about this Maya Books.Laughing slightly, I stood up from the chair swiftly. ~Maya~ I was shocked to see I was upgraded from economy to business class. What I found more absurd was the fact the man I tried avoiding earlier was my seat partner. Watching his lover and the strange man depart, I bit my lips, turning my gaze to the flight attendant, "Can I change my seat please?" "I'm sorry ma'am, that can't be done." "But..." "You need to settle in ma'am, the flight's about to take off," she urged, giving Adrian a meaningful nod as she departed swiftly. Rolling my eyes, I groaned in frustration as I turned towards my seat. Adrian had a smug look of victory on his face which irritated me even more. Settling into my seat, I pulled out my phone as I began scrolling through my email. "What're you doing?" Adrian asked, stretching his neck as he tried to take a peek at my phone.
