Chapter 1

Ariel POV

The sound of my ringing phone pull me out of my deep sleep, and I toss on the bed tiredly before I forcefully open my eyes. It's finally morning, and the day that I'll be moving out of this house to start a new job.

"Are you not leaving anymore, Ariel? It's almost 7am," Amy's faint voice sounds from outside the room followed by her faint footsteps until the door swings open, and she walks inside. She stop on her track and rolls her eyes at me when she sees that my eyes are already open.

"I'm about to leave, Amy. My clothes are already packed up, so there's no cause to be in a hurry," I groan tiredly, sitting up on the small uncomfortable bed as I run my fingers through my hair tiredly.

"Alright. I will go make something for you to eat before you leave," And with that, she turns and walks out of the room.

Taking a deep breath, I grab a handful of my hair in my palm and release another breath. All our lives, we have been living in this small house which my dad left for us before he died, and I'm a bit sad that I'm leaving now. Do I have a choice? After searching for job for three months after I was sacked from the previous bar I used to work as a waitress, I just got a job to work as a maid in the biggest villa in town, own by the popular billionaire twins in town.

You can imagine the pain of growing up without our parents by our side, right? Well, it all happened ten years ago when I was just thirteen. Our parents who were struggling to provide for us and give I and my little sister the best life they could afford, that Sunday, we came back from school only to receive the shock of our lives. The local restaurant they were managing was said to have exploded, claiming the lives of the two and a few of their customers were only injured.

After the death of our parents, I dropped out of school and asked Amy to continue. I had to take different jobs just so I could sponsor her education. Three months ago, Amy graduated from high school, and now she needs to further her education. I have given up since I have no funds to sponsor myself, but I can't let my sister's dream of becoming a medical doctor die just like that, right? I promised her that I will do everything to make sure she achieves what she wants, and I will go to any length to make that happen.

Dragging myself out of the bed, I walk sluggishly out of the room and head to the bathroom outside the house. Amy already prepared bath water for me, so I will just have my bath and leave for the villa afterward.

I spend about twenty minutes in the bathroom before I finally walk back into my room and gets dressed for the journey.

Staring at my reflection in the mirror a few minutes later, my heart breaks into pieces and tears well up in my eyes as it dawn on me again that I'm leaving this place, and may not come back in a long time. The only thing that will be left in my heart when I'm gone from here, is the memories of this place that I hold in my heart.

"Come on, Ariel. The Uber is here," Amy yells from outside. She took my bag out a few minutes ago.

"Alright, coming," I shout for her to hear me. Wiping the tears from my eyes, I look around the room one more time before I stride out of the room, closing the door gently behind me.

Stepping out of the small house, I hug Amy tightly as tears stream down my cheeks. It hurts that I'm leaving my sister, but this is what needs to be done if I want to give her a better future. I need to make this sacrifice of separating from her.

"Stay safe, Amy. I will always check up on you," I say to her before I hop inside the Uber, and the driver zooms off afterward.

As the cab drive down the road, too many questions run through my mind. What is my fate there? Will I encounter any difficulty there? Yes, I know life is all about challenges, but will I be able to take the one that'll placed to me when I get there? Will my life change for the better on getting there, or will I regret this decision I have made now? Those are the questions that keep parading my mind without answers, and I only end up releasing a brief sigh.

"Everything will be fine, Ariel... Don't think about it," I assure myself, even though I know things may not get any better.

The rest of the drive is just me staring out through the window, and feeding my eyes with the beautiful things in New York.

"We're here, Miss," The cabby's voice pull me out of my train of thought, and I look around the place to find us in front of a big iron black gate.

"Thank you," I hop out of the car and walk over to the booth to get my things down. Since Amy already paid him, I drag my suitcase toward the big gate. Taking a deep breath, I place a knock on the gate, and it only bounces back to me. I don't think I can get in there with just knocking on the gate. Nobody will hear me from inside.

"Press the button beside the gate," I suddenly hear a masculine voice from nowhere, and that is when I realize that there is a telecom here. Wow!

I press the button as instructed, and the gate miraculously slide open, revealing the big compound before me. I drag my heavy suitcase in, and head to the entrance door. I can admire the house later, but for now, let's get to business.

Stepping into the living room, I literally got lost staring around the heaven on earth in front of me. I have only seen this type of house in movies and my imagination, and to think that I'm here now makes me feel like I'm dreaming.

The living room has the best beautiful and expensive couches, the wall has many portraits of beautiful animals, and a big chandelier light is hanging on the ceiling.

Still lost in thoughts, the sound of the footsteps descending the stairs pull my attention, and taking my attention to it, my eyes meet with the middle aged woman walking toward the living room. She's graced in a long beautiful gown with her thick black hair falling freely down her shoulders.

"Hey, Ariel... You're finally here," She smiles at me warmly as she walks over to me and touches my shoulder.

"Good morning, ma'am," I greet her.

"Good morning darling. Please sit," She beckons on me to sit on the couch as she makes herself comfortable on one. I was here three days ago for interview, which was done by the headmaid. She must've told this woman about me.

"It's nice to have you here, and I must confess that you're pretty," She smile at me warmly, and I return it shyly.

"Thank you," I utter.

"I'll go straight to the point, Ariel. I guess you have been told your job here, right?" She asks, and I quickly nod my head.

"Yes, ma'am," I reply to her.

"Good. So, I will be leaving the country in a few days, and I need someone here to attend to my sons, monitor them, and give me feedback on how they are living their lives while I'm away," She explains to me, and I think I'm getting confused. I mean, what does that has to do with me being a maid?

"So, to make things clear, you're here to work as a nanny, and not a maid," She explains to me as if she read my thoughts, and I think now I understand. I don't think that'll be a problem. I mean, looking after children isn't a big deal.

"They are kind of tough to handle, so do you think you will be able to do it?" She asks, and I nod my head.

"Yes, ma'am," I reply to her.

"Good. I will be..."

"Mom, I have been searching around for you, didn't know you are here," A masculine voice sounds from the stairs followed by footsteps, causing my to raise my gaze. My mouth drops open in shock as I behold the owner of the deep masculine voice.

He is gracefully tall with a perfect figure like that of a model. His thick raven hair is messy, yet look super cute on him. I gulp down nothing as I stare at him walk to the living room.

"Here you are. Come have a seat, Trevor," The woman beckons on him to sit.

"Mom, I told you I'm going out with..."

"Sit, Trevor!" She commands him, and he rolls his eyes as he throws himself on the couch.

"Who's she?" He glances at me, and turn to ask his mom.

"That is Ariel Wilfred, your new nanny," She replies to him, and my eyes slowly narrow in shock. Wait a minute, what the hell did I just hear? Wait! I'm going to babysit an adult? Is she joking with me now or what?

"Are you kidding me?" His eyes narrow in shock as he glances at me and turns to face her again.

"No," She replies to him casually.

"What's with that noise down there?" Comes another deep voice accompanied by footsteps descending the stairs. It's a young man of about twenty-eight years old. He is about same age as Trevor, and with the striking resemblance, I need no one to tell me that this young man is his twin brother. Alright,I don't think I can do this. I can't!
