Chapter 2
Trevor Bradford
I stare at mom unbelievably as I continue to blink my eyes in shock. What the hell does she think she's doing? Hiring a nanny for twenty-eight years old young men that will turn twenty-nine soon, is she joking with me right now?
"Mom, this is not happening, okay? You can't possibly do this, right? We are grown men for goodness sake!" I spring up to my feet and yell at the top of my voice, but she doesn't look like she's affected by my yells.
"Mom, you can't do this, okay? We are grown men," Travis, my twin brother tries to talk her out of this, but she doesn't look like she's going to change her mind ever.
"Grown men? Are you two grown men? All you do is live an irresponsible life, bringing nothing to me, but troubles every day, how the hell are you grown men?" She snaps angrily at us, springing up to her feet, and we turn our faces away.
"But mom..." Travis tries to talk, but the glare she shoots him makes him shut his mouth. Well, that is how much we are scared of this woman.
"I always have to clear your mess every time. I am supposed to be happy that I now have men in my house as my children, but all you do is bring me problems. I still have to clear your mess all the time, do you blame me for this?" She snaps at us, boiling in rage.
While growing up, all we ever do is get into one trouble of the other. Back in high school, we were known as the most brilliant students in school, and yet the most irresponsible jerks. We were known for everything bad, except stealing and telling lies. We were called the bad boys in the school back then. Did I forget to add how we sleep around with girls both our classmates and the female teachers? Well, what the hell were you expecting from two spoilt twins that has the wealthiest parents in New York? Our crimes were always paid for, so we never stopped committing more, since the police wouldn't allow us spend a night in the station on every arrest.
"I promise, mom... We are going to change, okay? I swear it, we won't bring you trouble again, just please don't do this," I plead with her, but who says that she's going to change her mind that is already made up? I don't have a problem with her hiring a nanny for us, but this girl? We are older than her for fuck's sake, so how the hell can we cope with her?
"Mom, just calm down, okay? I swear, we're going to change," Travis further says, but she just rolls her eyes, turning her attention to the girl who has been sitting quietly like a log of wood.
"Ariel..." Mom calls her, and she quickly raises her gaze to look at her.
"These are the people you are going to be babysitting," Mom says, and I cringe. This is the creepiest thing that ever happened to me. How the hell am I going to cope?
"Ma'am... This... This is weird... I don't think I can do this," She shakes her head as she quickly stands up to her feet, and my heart dances inside me excitedly. I was expecting that.
"Why?" Mom squints her eyes like she doesn't know why she said that. How the hell was she even expecting her to do this job? I'm sure she had no clue about this before she came here, if not, she wouldn't have risked it in the first place.
"Nothing, ma'am," She tries not to stutter after she glances at me and Travis with that nervous look on. I don't blame her, I wouldn't try this shit if I was in her shoes.
"Ariel..." Mom calls her and sighs briefly before she walks over to her. She gently holds her hand, and I can't help but exchange glance with Travis. What if this woman up to now?
We watch as the two talks indistinctly to each other, and I wish I can hear what they are saying to each other.
Mom finally pulls away from her after a few minutes, turning to us with a smile on her face. Please don't tell me she has agreed to this job.
"Henceforth, Ariel will live here with you, and monitor your lives. She's going to give me feedback on everything going on in your lives, so I advise you to be on your best behavior," Mom says to us, and I exchange glance with Travis, who also looks like he's going to collapse anytime soon.
"Ariel..." Mom calls again.
"Yes, ma'am," She replies to her.
"They are your responsibilities now, and I'm going to have to question you if anything goes wrong with their lives. As their mother, I am giving you the right to replace me and train them like a mother while I'm away," Mom says, and I bite my lips. This is the craziest thing that has ever happened to me.
"Mom, you can't do that!" I disagree with her, but she only rolls her eyes at me.
"Come with me, Ariel. I will show you around the house," Mom holds her hand, and pulls her with her. How can she even touch this dirty thing?
"Trevor, take your nanny's bag to the room opposite your room," Mom says as they both climb the stairs, and I run my fingers through my hair. I think this is a payback for all we have been doing to her. Can she not punish us this way and let us make it up to her?
"Shit!" Travis curse under his breath, running his fingers through his blonde hair. We are in deep shit right now.
"What are we going to do, Trevor? We can't let that girl stay here," Travis asks me, and I shrug. How the hell am I supposed to know? Mom always has the final say in the family since dad is not here in New York, so since she has made her decision, then we can't do anything about it than to accept our fate.
"There's nothing we can do than to accept our fate, Travis. Not that she's going to listen to us anyway," I shrug, and he slumps on the couch like he's going to faint.
"We are in trouble, Trevor," He whispers, reclining on the couch. Yes, we really are...
Chapter 3Adelie POVIt has been three days since I moved into the mansion, and I must confess that Mrs. Bradford is someone fun to be with, not to talk of how nice she is.It's a beautiful morning today, but I don't feel too good about it. I mean, I'm so nervous since she will be leaving today, leaving me with her twins who never welcomed me here since the first day.'They must not go to the club, and if they have to, you need to go with them and make sure that they leave there early enough. You must keep eyes on them and make sure that they don't drink, and they shouldn't drive out at odd hours' Mrs. Bradford's words replay in my head, and I sigh deeply as I finally sit up on the bed. How the hell am I going to control those two grown up men? I know she told me to be cold toward them, but can I really do it when their faces are cold and scary? As much as I want to quit this job, I need it badly, and also, the money she promised to pay me monthly is tempting and not something I can g
Chapter 4Ariel POV"When are you leaving, Ariel?" His voice sounds through my ears, and I gulp down nothing nervously. I know they want me out of here, but for the sake of the money I need, I really have to work hard to keep this job and get the huge money. Mrs. Bradford promised me more, and I can't lose that for anything in the whole world."Leaving? To where, Trevor?" I try not to stutter as I raise my gaze to look him in the eyes as his mom instructed later. The first sign of confidence is eye contact, and she asked me to always make it with them if I don't want them to think later that I'm scared of them."Don't ask me that stupid question, Ariel. Where the hell else but the hole you came from?" He snaps at me, and I swear that my heart sinks into my stomach and it grumbles for some seconds as I feel cold shivers run down my spine. His eyes are scaring me, but I need to do this. I can't give up just before I started. "Let's respect each other, Trevor. Your mom brought me here
Chapter 5Ariel POV"Were you brought here to show us your body?" Travis asked, and that was when the realization dawned on me that I was wearing just a towel. Gosh! These guys would eventually send me to my early grave, no doubt about that."That doesn't matter, ok? You can't leave the house, and if you must leave, then I would have to come with you," I replied to them, and Trevor scoffed as he ran his fingers through his hair."Let me get this straight, please... You are not our bodyguard, I hope you know that, huh?" He scoffed, and I sighed briefly, as I held the towel tightly around my chest, scared of it falling off anytime soon."I...I...I know... But this is what your mom wants, ok?" I stuttered, and Travis sighed as he crashed against the car."Give that back to me, Ariel. I don't want to unleash the demon in me," Trevor threatened me when I snatched the car keys from him, but I stepped away from him. I can't deny the fact that I was really nervous, or scared rather, but there
Chapter 6Ariel POVTo cut the long story short, I went to bed yesterday hungry, after I made their bed. I didn't have enough sleep all through the night, since my stomach couldn't stop making noise. I thought I won't last the night, but glory be to God, I woke up this morning, breathing fine, although my body was weak and I felt like I was going to die.My phone beeped while I was still on the bed, and I lazily reached out for it, swiping the unlock button to see that it was a message from Amy.'Good morning, sis. Did you sleep well? Working as a maid would be very tiring for you, so I decided to send you a text since you must be busy sleeping after a long day of work. I'm sorry you are going through all these hard times just to put me through. May the good God guide and protect you over there. I love you, sis' I smiled after I read her text, feeling a tinge of hope, and the reason to be strong and keep pushing.'Thank you, sweetheart. I'm fine, and you don't have to say that, ok? It
Chapter 1Ariel POVThe sound of my ringing phone pull me out of my deep sleep, and I toss on the bed tiredly before I forcefully open my eyes. It's finally morning, and the day that I'll be moving out of this house to start a new job."Are you not leaving anymore, Ariel? It's almost 7am," Amy's faint voice sounds from outside the room followed by her faint footsteps until the door swings open, and she walks inside. She stop on her track and rolls her eyes at me when she sees that my eyes are already open."I'm about to leave, Amy. My clothes are already packed up, so there's no cause to be in a hurry," I groan tiredly, sitting up on the small uncomfortable bed as I run my fingers through my hair tiredly."Alright. I will go make something for you to eat before you leave," And with that, she turns and walks out of the room.Taking a deep breath, I grab a handful of my hair in my palm and release another breath.
