"Ella?" Elizabeth called out.

She stood up straight without picking the kitchen knife off of the floor.

She stepped around the kitchen counter, and I walked past the door and stepped in to the kitchen.

"What are you doing here?" She asked in a soft tone, but her eyes were sharp, probably wondering if I'd listened in to her conversation.

Her question made me frown a bit.

"I came to see Grandpa. You told me he was hurt." I signed.

Elizabeth let out a nervous laugh.

"Oh, you didn't have to come over this quick." She replied.

Her tone sounded very different from the text she shot at me earlier.

She accused me of abandoning my family, for goodness sake.

"You seemed to have misunderstood me." I signed.

Elizabeth slightly narrowed her eyes at me.

"Yes. Grandpa was really hurt. He gave us a huge scare. Of course we were upset that you chose not to visit." She mumbled.

"I really didn't know about it until you texted me earlier." I signed.
