Two days had passed since I saw the young, handsome man, the one with the beautiful blue eyes, the handsome well chiseled face and dark short hair. He had a huge build and striking resemblance to the Alpha.

I wouldn’t deny that my heart flustered whenever I remembered him and the smile he had flashed at me. I found myself occasionally looking at the people around, staring just to see if he would appear but each time, my hopes were dashed.

“I don’t think he's our mate, Nyx… I doubt if that’s even possible. I’m nothing but a mere omega who is struggling to remain alive. I shouldn’t concern myself with finding a wolf because the rich and affluent would always be with their own while omegas and lowlives like me would end up with the lowest guards.” I whispered softly, choking on a sob.

“There could be a change. You could get lucky…”

“Luck doesn’t exist. Life has been so cruel to me, do you think I can bag someone as powerful as that? I feel like a fool for even thinking about having a mate when it’s been less than a week since I got my wolf… Why? Why did it take you so long?” I demanded.

“I was hiding…”

“From what? From who?” I demanded, everything didn’t add up, she was barely speaking to me.

“It’s best to leave things until the right time. Just know that I’ll always be with you, whether you get a response from me or not.” Nyx replied and I exhaled, nothing I said could make her talk so I decided to let her be.

I finished my chores for the day and was heading to the garden to see if there was any job undone before I retired for the day.

“The Alpha is coming…” I heard a guard announce and I was gripped with fear. Without thinking, I opened the first door my hands could find, dashing into the room as I bolted the door immediately, placing my head on the door as my heart pounded heavily.

My palms were sweaty and my breaths shallow as I began biting my fingers, hoping for him to pass without seeing me.

Silence dominated the area and it was the most terrifying five minutes of my life. I waited patiently, wanting to be very sure he was gone before stepping out,

I took in three breaths before I slowly opened the door, walking out quietly. I shut the door immediately and staggered back, my shoulders slumping as I saw Alpha Damien, standing on the left side of the door, his eyes dark and squinted with a small frown on his face.

I began trembling immediately and he glided to my front, a swift moment that made my body quiver with astonishment.

He towered over me, his huge frame trapping me in between himself as my heart rang in my ears, almost jumping out of my chest.

My breathing was fast and short, I flattened myself against the door, wishing I could enter into the door or melt like lava on the ground even though the heat radiating from him was making my whole body drenched.

“Alp… Alpha… Please…” I whispered, I didn’t know why I was pleading or for what reason but if it would get me out of this situation then I was willing to cry my eyes out.

“You hid.” He growled, his voice menacingly calm. I shook my head vigorously.

“Why?” He whispered, his hand crept up to my neck as he slowly began rubbing around. I swallowed hard, his hand was like a distraction as it sent shocks of sheer pleasure and pain around my body.

It was crazy but I felt a mixture of fear, pleasure and slight anticipation. “Why did you hide?” He whispered again, this time his voice even softer than before and it made me wonder if this was all a trap.

“No… Nothing…” I whispered, hoping I sounded as convincing as possible.

He didn’t say a word, all he did was touch my cheeks, staring at both sides like he was checking for something.

He let go after a few minutes and he lowered his head to my neck, making my head ache furiously as I pressed myself even further into the door, wishing with all my heart that I could disappear this time around.

I jolted with fear when his nose rested in my neck. My hands were pressed to the door, my nails boring a hole in the mahogany wood while my legs buckled beneath me, struggling to keep me standing.

He used his nose to graze my neck slowly and I sucked in a breath, my whole body quaking furiously with an unfamiliar feeling of delight.

It felt good and dangerous at the same time, it was thrilling and I felt like I was at the edge of death and at the tip of paradise at the same time. I was torn between the pain, fears, anxiety and terrifying excitement coursing through my veins.

He let out a little grunt and pulled back, his eyes twinkling as he glared at me. I was speechless, my lips were slightly parted as I bowed my head, trying very hard not to make it visible that this insane act had made me feel bizarre emotions.

“Don’t you ever hide from me.” He warned and I nodded hastily.

“Ever.” He added as he pushed himself back, turned on his heels and walked out of the passage while I stared at his disappearing shoulders, my nostrils flaring with my heart almost exploding.

“Nyx… Nyx… What had just happened?” I demanded.

“He’a checking for his scent.” She replied and I was taken aback.

“Checking for his scent? What do you mean?”

“When males catch a whiff of their scent on another wolf, it means they are mates… He’s trying to know if you’re his mate.” She replied and my eyes almost widened in shock.

“Are you saying there’s a possibility that he might be my mate?” My heart drummed heavily as I waited patiently for her response.

“Nyx… I’m waiting for a response.” I asserted after a moment of silence. I was still standing at the door, too perturbed to leave.

“Only the goddess knows, Nora… Don’t get your hopes up, he’s dangerous.” She warned, leaving me stunned and curious.
