The day began and I couldn’t stop thinking about the terrifying night. I’d have called it a nightmare but I woke up on the chair where I had slept, close to the window.

I walked on thin ice as I made my way to the kitchen to start washing the dishes. I was terrified and every now and then, I glanced at my back.

I was very distressed, every guard who walked around made me feel closer to death. It felt like I was about to be dragged away.

I was anxious as I couldn’t stop thinking of the Alpha walking through the door to slay me. Countless times, I found myself hallucinating and each time was more painful than the last.

“Why am I still alive? Why hadn’t he come to kill me?” I whispered to myself because it was noon already.

I saw the guards again and my heart raced faster because I thought they were here to capture me but they ended up passing by without sparing me a glance.

“She dared look at the alpha yesterday…”

“I’m sure the alpha is planning a mortifying death?”

“What do you think he’ll do? The last person who tried it was beheaded with a guillotine, who knows maybe he’ll use a scythe this time around.”

Hearing these words made my palms sweat as I almost jumped out of fear. The Alpha was a very dangerous person and the suspense was killing.

I just wanted to know my fate, I wanted to know if I was going to die or live. I thought about escaping but pushed the thought out immediately.

He wasn’t the type you could hide from and leaving this pack house was near impossible because of the guards, you could find a guard at every corner.

“Nora, I want to see you.” The pack mistress, Ma’am Ella announced and I jumped out of fright. My hands were covered in sweat and sweat beads began to form on my forehead.

My legs were numb and with all my strength, I wobbled my ways towards her, ten steps seemed like a hundred and by the time I was in front of her, I was panting heavily as I stared at the ground, trying to still my shaky hands.

“What did you do yesterday?” She demanded and I almost collapsed.

“She knows already! I was in grave danger…”

“Answer me.” She said sternly and I nodded.

“I… I…” I was trying very hard to form the words but they were stuck in my throat, I didn’t know what to do and I fell to my knees, holding onto her leg as I began to plead for mercy.

“Please… Please…” Tears were streaming down my cheeks as I said these words, I looked up at her and rage was written all over her.

She exhaled deeply as she just stared at me without any word, only the goddess knew what she was thinking because her face gave no expression.

“Please save me… I swear to the goddess it was a mistake… I didn’t know how it happened but I just found myself walking towards him! I tried my best to stop.” I said in between sobs and she placed a hand on her head.

“You violated the rule of the pack house! You deserve to die…”

“Please! I do not want to die.” I pleaded instantly, wishing there was a way I could go back in time to change things.

“This isn’t up to me! How dare you go outside at night! No one has ever survived it and you’re not special or different. You deserve to die and only the goddess knows why the alpha is prolonging your death.” She said sadness and more tears gushed out of my eyes.

“Please…”

“I’m sorry, Nora. I warned you. You saw the alpha yesterday, only the beta has the right to speak to him, I’m nothing before him and the Beta would order for you to be beheaded because he hasn’t seen the alpha in his wolf form, nobody has…” She replied and I felt my heart plunge even deeper into depression.

It was inevitable, I was destined to die right from time and stupidly, I prolonged my death by moving to this pack.

“The Beta is here!”

“He seems furious… Get out of the way…”

“The beta!”

We heard gasps from different maids as they scurried around and my heartbeat increased. I felt my breath being cut short, I was finding it difficult to breath and my hands began trembling as the beta and a few guards walked into the kitchen.

His eyes searched around and finally rested on me, I was drenched in sweat as I just trembled on the ground, too weak to plead mercy because I knew my pleas meant nothing to him.

“Seize her!” He barked and two guards stepped forward. They grabbed my hands roughly.

“Please!” I screamed and pleaded while trying to break free from their grasp but my aggressive protests were nothing, they held me even tighter and led me outside, ignoring my wails.

“Please…” I pleaded as they pressed me to the wall and while I tried to wriggle my way out, it was difficult because they began to tie me on a wall. It was a stand alone wall in the middle of the pack house and now I understood why the pillar was there.

It was for beheading people, even though I was at the peak of death I still hoped and pleaded, wishing the same force that had pushed me to see the Alpha would rescue me.

“Please…” I pleaded desperately, turning my head as I ignored the unbearable pain. The beta was holding a sharp sword, it was glistening in the sunlight and he stared at me with fury, determined to end me like we had an existing beef.

He raised his hand and I shut my eyes tightly, my heart in my mouth as I still had hope of getting saved.

“Stop! You can’t kill her! She’s my wife!” A loud voice rang out from the gates and I began to shake in despair.

“Wife? Who was that? The only person who wanted to marry me was dead… Does this mean he survived? Was this another nightmare?”
