Chapter 10

Everleigh's POV.

I felt a light tap on my shoulder and my eyes fluttered open. I looked at the lanky man standing before me with a broad smile.

His beards appeared slightly bushy, I wondered why I hadn't noticed that in the morning.

Regardless, he was a beautiful man. His lips parted in a smile and I felt the rage within me slowly disappear.

"Welcome," I said to him, sitting up on the bed.

"Thanks, beautiful. What have you been up to?"

"Not so much, just destroying the camera you installed in my bedroom."

"What?"

"The cleaners already got rid of the broken bits but you ought to know what I mean. You installed a camera in my bedroom, Felix.

Just when I thought I could trust you. Why the hell would you?"

"I don't get what you're saying." He sounded genuinely confused.

"Are you saying you didn't install any camera here?"

"No, ma'am. Why the fuck would I do that?" He threw his hands up in the air, his face showing more confusion than defense.

"Well, then who was it that had a camera installed in my bedroom?"

"It makes no sense that such a thing would happen in this household. A few of the rooms have cameras but not this one."

"Why didn't you put anyone here?"

"Because there's a tendency that we might have sex here." He said, giving a nervous chuckle.

Our eyes met and I stared at him calmly for a split second before bursting out in laughter.

"I'm sorry if that was inappropriate. See it as a joke," He added.

"Besides, it'd be rude to have a camera in your bedroom, would make it seem like I want to spy on you. You deserve your privacy."

"Whoever the hell did this should be discovered and punished!" I conclusively said to Felix who gave a nod in affirmation.

"How was your day at work today?" I tried to guess by looking at his dress.

He looked every inch as handsome as he did before he left for work. He didn't smell any less enchanting, either.

I wondered how many women gazed at him with lust and looked at his outfit keenly searching for lipstick stains.

"Boring as fuck. It was from one stupid meeting, to the other. These investors had better give what they promised."

"I am certain they will." I said to him with a smile of admiration, recalling how hard he used to work when we were together and he was starting to build.

"You have become so successful, you shouldn't be freaking out over more money. You have way more money than you can finish in your lifetime."

"Success is never enough. If I have no goals to smash, I wonder why I should wake up. Well, now that I have you with me, I suppose goals are secondary."

His dimples deepened as he showed off his diastema. "How was your day? I almost forgot to ask."

"Who says you have me in your life?" I raised a brow. Ignoring the comment, I went on to say, "My day was kind of boring.

I was home throughout today, didn't do much. It was really uneventful, to be honest."

"Who was she?" He maintained eye contact with me as he asked.

"Who?"

"The lady with crazy curled hair as the gatekeepers described her who came over to see you today."

"They saw her?" That meant she walked through the gate.

"Of course they did. How else would she have come in?"

"That was Madison Clark. I think everyone knows her."

"They mentioned she is a spoiled brat from a billionaire family. I didn't realize that was the household they spoke of."

"She is quite spoiled if you want to look at it like that."

"How do you know her?"

I thought for a while. Avoiding eye contact with him, I said, "We went to the same college."

"Are you both close?"

"No. Which is why I am surprised that your staff members let her come in here without confirming if I wanted to see her or not."

"They did say that you both spent a lot of time talking. According to the gatekeeper, she made threats which is why he let her in."

"So what if she wanted to hurt me?" I was agitated. "You know that I was framed and we are yet to know who did it."

"You think it was Madison? Although she acts in awkward manners, that lady doesn't seem like she would hurt a fly."

"So, you're not against your staff members for letting her come in to see me without confirming if I knew her?"

"It's alright, I'm sorry. You're right." This line was familiar from years back.

In the middle of any heated argument with Felix, he was fond of backing out and letting me win.

I let a sigh out and relaxed on the bed. "Have you had lunch yet?" He asked, joining me.

"No, not yet. I was napping before you got home."

"I want us to eat out," He said to me as he stood from the bed.

"I'll go shower and then we can go together. Get ready in ten minutes, I'll see you downstairs."

"Don't I get a say in this? What if I don't want to go?"

"I'm sorry, I have an entire afternoon planned out. You don't get a say in this, mamacita."

He shuttled out of my bedroom and headed for his, leaving me smiling to myself. I was ready in twenty minutes.

I strolled down the stairs slowly, headed for the living room.

Like I expected, he was seated on one of the sofas nearest to the television and watching sporting news. "Don't make me wait for you!" I said, teasing.

"I won't, ma'am. Shall we?" He turned the Tele off and stood quickly.

He took a hasty stride towards me and in a few minutes, he was standing in front of me. He held my hand and made me spin around for him.

"You look breathtaking. Ravishing. Gorgeous." He said in whispers, gazing at me with such admiration.

"Thank you!" I responded. "From the look of things, we'll be having dinner and not lunch. It's almost four pm."

"Even better," He said as we both headed outside for his Ferrari.

"What's going on in your mind, Felix? I hope you're not making any more attempts to get back at Clyde, make him feel jealous?"

Felix didn't reply. He just looked at me and smiled. I felt uncomfortable as I wondered what he wanted to do this time.

"Don't do anything stupid. I'll not be a party to it."

"I promise it will not be stupid, it'll be beautiful."
