Chapter 11

Everleigh's POV.

We arrived at a fancy restaurant and his driver opened the door for us to walk out.

"Stay here and wait for us, we'll be back in two hours." He said to the young man who gave a nod and re-entered the car.

Felix held my hand as we both found our way into the eatery.

"Wow!" I felt my jaw drop as I looked around me.

The entrance was marked by grand, double doors of dark mahogany, flanked by lanterns, their soft glow casting a welcoming light.

"What is going on?" I asked Felix, casting a glance at him.

"I'm giving you a treat as the goddess that you are." He led me towards an exquisitely furnished room.

As we stepped inside, we were greeted by an air of sophistication and a beautiful door lady who showed us to the hall.

The room was empty and there was just a table and two plush velvet chairs in the whole room, situated at the center.

The walls were adorned with rich and original artworks and the tables were draped in very fine linen.

Their surfaces were set with gleaming silverware and crystal glasses that were inviting.

I was dumbfounded as I took in the scene before me.

"Where is this place? It's pretty fancy. I love that we have all the privacy we need."

Felix looked at me with a smile but said nothing. He then sat opposite me and began to look at the menu before him.

I picked the menu up as well and skimmed through the many varieties of meals.

"OMFG, Felix. I feel like my head would explode with all these options. I can't even decide which to choose."

"Let's have dessert first?" He said putting the menu down. "Maybe Ice cream."

"Nah. Dessert always comes after a meal. I guess you forgot that teeny tiny detail about me.

I'll never have dessert before eating, it never feels right. It has a way of making me feel full."

"I didn't forget, Ever. I was just making sure you were still my Ever."

"Your Ever?" I smiled faintly. "Oh, please."

He motioned on the waiter who moved swiftly towards us.  "Hello, sir. Welcome to love world."

The man said with a well rehearsed smile that almost fell plastic. Love world? The name sounded familiar.

"Bring the specials for us." Felix ignored his greeting and made the order. He genuflected and then he excused himself.

Minutes later, the plates arrived as canvases, each morsel arranged with artistic precision.

The aroma was mouthwatering and very inviting, the dishes were made of gold and was slightly noisy.

But that was okay, all I wanted to do was to open up the dishes and savour its content.

Slowly, I lifted the lid of the plate and was surprised to see the content.

The aroma exuded and filled the room. It was a well seasoned chicken pie and fruit juice.

"This is the special meal you ordered?" I burst out laughing as I dug into the pie.

"It's so plain compared to everything else that's on the menu."

Felix joined me in laughing, quickly grabbing one of the pies as well.

I could see that he was uneasy as he took a sip of the juice and continued with the pie.

"Yes, you and I have so much in common, one of which is that we'll always choose chicken over everything else."

"Especially over Turkey!" I said. "I mean, who the fuck would choose turkey over chicken?"

"That's the same question on my mind." Felix agreed, taking another huge chunk of chicken pie and munching on it.

We ate in silence for a while. Felix looked up at me shyly a few times, but avoided eye contact with me.

I could see the anxiety in the way he held his pie, I knew there was something on his mind.

"I know you like I know my last name. What is the true reason why you brought me here? I know that there's something you want to tell me which is why we're here."

"I brought you here because you're still healing and need to eat well.

Chicken pie and fruit juice used to be the only thing you would have whenever you were ill, don't you remember?"

"I do, I do. And chicken pie still is my go to when I'm ill." I said to him with a chuckle.

I was tempted to add that I wasn't ill this time, I was pregnant with the children of a man who he hated so much.

But instead, I swallowed a gulp of fruit juice and continued munching on my meal.

"I bet you have healed though?"

"Yes, I have." I retorted. Starting to wonder when I would start my prenatals and what excuse I would give him for leaving his house very often.

"Alright," He said, showing crippling anxiety as he began munching again. Soon, we were done eating. "We will leave soon, love." He said to me.

"That's okay," I responded. "Although I would really love to take ice cream before we go."

"Perfect!" He retorted. Almost immediately, as if signaled by his words, the waiter began approaching us with two bowls of ice cream.

He dropped them on the table and then he excused himself.

I began to empty my bowl. Scoop after scoop. Looking up at Felix a few times with a smile.

The ambiance became further enhanced by the gentle murmur of our conversation, the clinking of the spoon against the bowl, and the soft strains of a piano playing in the background.

A piano I hadn't noticed all along. I realized at that moment that a pianist had appeared from nowhere and was playing halo.

"What is going on?" I said to Felix, a smile carving out on my face.

"Look behind you." He said. I turned around slowly and saw three men standing behind me with a sheet that read, "Will you marry me?"

My jaw dropped as I looked at Felix again. He was on his knees with a ring.
