Vivian woke up with a start. Her heart was pounding wildly and her body was drenched in sweat.
“Apra… Apra… are you there?” she muttered as she sat up. She looked around but there was no one in the room.
"Apra... Apra..." She tried calling more loudly but the eerie sounds of the insects and nocturnal birds were the only thing that she got in reply.
A sinking feeling gripped Vivian's heart as if something bad was about to happen. The torch had blown out at some point in time. Still, Vivian could see everything faintly in the faint glow of moonlight.
Click! The sound of the key turning made her jump. Someone was coming in, but who? And why would that person come so late at night?
Sensing that something is fishy, she tried to get to her feet but her knees buckled and she fell to the floor. She crawled behind the wardrobe just in time to see a shadow move towards the bed.
“Vivian! I know you are there…&rdqu
Roxan kneeled on Vivian’s injured leg making her scream in pain. He laughed a demonic laugh seeing Vivian struggle like a fish stuck in a net.“Try harder honey… You might manage to get out of my hold… If you please me… I might consider…”“B******! Leave Vivian right away.” Apra screamed, raising her knife.“Look who is here to join the fun… isn’t she your BFF Vivian…?”“Roxan, no. Leave her alone…”“Trust my luck! I am getting one free with one, that is the term you like to use, isn’t it, honey?”Roxan said with an evil glint in his eyes.”In a swift movement, Roxan got off the bed making Vivian whimper and scream.“Apra, don’t come inside. Go away! He has gone mad.” Vivian said between gasps.Apra’s eyes landed on Vivian. Her eyes turned red and her face became flushed. Wi
“He… I… didn’t kill her… it was Roxan…” Vivian stuttered. The next moment Sandilo was kneeling in front of her. He grabbed her and shook her up, roaring, “Stop, Vivian. Can you stoop any lower? If you didn’t kill her what is the damned knife doing in your hand…”Vivian’s jaws hung, her hands trembled and the knife landed on the floor with a clank. She opened her mouth to speak, “It is not like what it….” But, Sandilo cut her off mid-sentence,...“How could you, Vivian? She was so close to you… She always sided with you… You called her your BFF yet you killed her. Didn’t you think about her baby, Vivian… even once…”The hatred rolling off Sandilo cut Vivian to the core. She lost her will to contradict him. His words kept ringing in her ears, ‘You called her your BFF yet you killed her.’He was righ
Sandilo heard the crunching of the leaves as two figures approached him. His hand shot out and he grabbed one of them by his throat.A growl erupted from him as Sandilo opened his eyes slowly. The man he caught was glaring at him with his deep grey eyes. He lunged for Sandilo’s throat but he grasped his hand and twisted his arm behind his back.Hearing the commotion, the others drew closer. Sandilo analyzed them; one was short but his muscles bulged and his eyes gleamed with confidence, the second was tall but lanky. The one standing right in front of him was hunky and well built.Sandilo lunged at the hunky man but he dodged and shoved Sandilo, causing him to stagger and stumble forward. The three of them pounced at Sandilo at the same time. The tall hunky man gripped him by his throat while the other two held his arms.Sandilo glared at the for a moment before letting his claws emerge from his fingers. He let his right hand transform into h
Vivian was seated on the floor when the door swung open. She let out a sigh and mentally prepared herself for the lady to torture her.“La…la…la…hmmm…hmmm…too roo…rooo…roo” The lady hummed as she mopped the floor and made the bed.She had only heard her grumbling over the past few days. So, Vivian couldn’t resist asking, “You seem happy today…”The lady stopped her work mid-way, stunned to hear Vivian speaking. It was the first time she heard Vivian’s voice. Her face paled and her hands shook slightly as if hearing Vivian’s voice made her seem more real. Her face flushed as if she was ashamed of herself.“Nothing…nothing…” She muttered in a flustered voice and continued her work.“I don’t think you need to hide anything from me. I am going to die in a few days, so…” Vivian replied shrugging her shoulde
Vivian pulled the chair with trembling hands and sat down, her mind registering the fact that this was the first time she saw a proper chair. She gazed at the man sitting in front of her, trying to analyze his facial features. She couldn’t help but notice the striking resemblance between Alpha and even Sandilo.“You guessed it right, daughter… I am Sandilo’s great grandfather.”Vivian’s jaws hung open. She had expected something like grandfather but not great grandfather. How old was he?“I am two hundred years old, daughter…” He replied as if he had read her mind.“What?? Two hundred years… How can someone live for so long..”His face lit up with a smile and he said, “My achievements are nothing compared to yours, Vivian. Most werewolves live till the age of 150 years… I just dragged that a few decades more… You on the other hand&
“Sandilo is so full of himself, isn’t he?” Grandpa said shaking his head. Then, he continued with the story, “The moon goddess said, ‘I have guided you through thick and thin but you have insulted me by using the powers granted for killing your brethren.I curse that you will turn into a monster just like your monstrous heart and ravage the surface of the earth. You can never take your human form again.’”“Gosh! What happened then? Did everyone turn into monsters?” Vivian asked, gripping the edge of her chair.“No, Lorenzo fell on the feet of the Goddess and begged for mercy. He was the alpha of the only pack that had not taken part in the war. So, the Goddess’s heart was melted by his pleas. She couldn’t take back the curse but she modified it. The werewolves were forced to take on their wolf forms every full moon and they would kill anyone in their path. The next morning they don&rs
“Take me to the arena, Augustus.”“But… grandpa… Sandilo will never listen to you…”Grandpa’s eyes blazed red and he growled, “Do you think I am requesting you, dumbass…”“Grandpa… I…” He said, lowering his eyes.A guttural howl escaped his throat and a moment later a tall and hunky man trotted in. He stood respectfully in front of Grandpa, bowing his head.“Take me to the arena,” Grandpa commanded.“Alpha…” he greeted and moved to hold his hand but Grandpa swatted it away.“I am not that old… just show the way…”“Sorry, Grandpa… Please follow me…” He said walking out of the cave.Grandpa picked up his walking stick and shoved Augustus’ leg aside to make way and walked ahead. His steps were slow but firm.In the arena…
The lady kept Vivian in a firm grasp as she led her to the stage. Two werewolves flanked them on either side.Vivian swept her eyes over the crowd, catching the expression of their eyes. There was pity and even pain in some of them but none of the eyes held hatred or fury. Vivian shook her head. She was again imagining things. She raised her head and looked at Sandilo who was standing with a cold expression. Her heart twisted at this sight. She would never see him again. She would never feel his embrace, she would…. her heart throbbed with agony…She stumbled when climbing the stage but he didn’t come forward to help her. F***! She wanted to hold him one last time before dying. Was that too much to ask. When Vivian had reached the center of the stage, the lady and the werewolves flanking her went back to join the audience.“As you all know, this woman in front of you has committed a heinous crime. She killed Your Luna that
Vivian woke up with a start the next morning; completely drenched in sweat. She gripped the edge of the bed as she tried to catch her breath.“Vivi, what happened, love?” Sandilo asked groggily as he sat up rubbing his eyes.“I… saw that a fleet of spaceships had attacked the Lycan World and we both were running about, trying to save our daughter,” Vivian muttered with a horrified look.“Love, look at me…” Sandilo said drawing closer and lifting her chin.Looking into her eyes, he said, “It was just a dream. We are safe at the AV cottage. There is no attack.”Vivian’s eyes swept around the room and she relaxed considerably. Sandilo was right. It was only a dream. Still, she couldn’t help but wonder why she had seen the nightmare.Suddenly, she jumped to her feet and ran out. Sandilo shook his head at her weird behavior before following her out.It was a good thi
The unification ceremony was to be held by the lakeside. It was tradition to exchange vows under the moonlight.Sana checked the decorations one last time before the guests started to arrive. It was unlike anything the werewolves had ever seen. The whole stage was carved out of a single slab of pure white marble. It dazzled in the moonlight giving it a surreal look.Four pillars flanked the stage. Garlands of flowers entwined around the pillars like vines. Streamers and garlands ran between the pillars creating an enclosure of sorts. They had even managed to make four light bulbs glow in the corners. It was perfect just like Vivian had envisioned. Sana just wanted to add some additional effect. She took out a jar and opened it. The next moment, hundreds of fireflies flocked around the light bulbs, giving the setting a fairytale look. The area around the lake had been cleared to make room for the guests. In the extreme right corner, a huge stone oven had b
Sandilo’s eyes darted from Grandpops to the steep descent. He was torn between following his mate and leaving her Grandpa alone in this unknown place.“It is okay, Go and get her…” Grandpops said, taking off his glasses and cleaning them.“But… Grandpops… This place is not safe. What if the wolves attack while I am away… Vivian will never forgive me…”Grandpops cleared his throat and said, “What if something happens to her?”Sandilo wrung his hands. He was really in a great fix. Just when he thought that things couldn’t get any worse, he heard the cracking of the leaves followed by heavy footsteps. His ears perked and he positioned in front of Grandpops.Grandpa let out a snort and said, “I don’t think I need your protection, cub. Move aside."Sandilo’s heartbeat accelerated as Grandpops shoved him out of the way and walked towards the brink
The winds blew up the dust like a huge whirlwind but Sandilo and Vivian stood frozen, dazzled by the sight. The spaceship landed as softly as the flamingoes skimming over the water. A door slid open and a slide of sorts rolled down.An old man with grey hair, bespectacled eyes, and wrinkled face emerged out of the entrance and slid down as if he were riding a huge slide. His face was lit up with child-like curiosity. His eyes darted around, drinking in the beautiful landscape. He opened his arms and took in a deep breath. His face flushed with contentment.Vivian couldn’t believe what she was seeing. She felt like she will go crazy with the intensity of emotions that she felt at that time.Much to Sandilo’s surprise, she leaped into the air and launched herself at the old man. She started licking his face just like a dog licks her master if they see them after a very long time. The old man was dumbfounded when the huge white wolf pounce
“Sandy, Rewa is desperate for a run. Can we just trot up the mountain and come back?” Vivian asked batting her eyelashes.Sandilo groaned and said, shaking his head, “You know you can’t do that. Why do you keep pestering me with the same question, Vivi.”Vivian’s face flushed and she said glaring at him, “I am so done with this stupidity. It is a month since this craziness started. I don’t care if I die the next moment. I am going out.”Sandilo grabbed her arm and raised her face by her chin saying, “I don’t want to make you unhappy love. I am just worried about your safety.”“Just take your hands off me, Sandy. I have had enough of it. I am not some barbie doll whom you can keep trapped in a cage…. I am bloody suffocated trapped in this stupid cottage all this while.” She screamed, shoving him aside. She took her wolf form and was outside the door with a singl
Sandilo felt a tickling sensation in his nose, he turned in his sleep and sneezed. Vivian giggled as she watched him rub his nose and doze off again. She inserted the grass stalk in his nose again and twirled it gently. He grunted something and turned to the other side again.Sandilo woke up with a start when Vivian was about to twirl the stalk for the third time.“Who the F***! is that?” He roared, his face red with fury. The stalk from Vivian’s hand dropped and she crossed her arms puffing her cheeks.Realization dawned on Sandilo as he took in Vivian’s upset expression. He started apologizing instantly, “I am so sorry, love… I didn’t realize it was you…”Vivian just pursed her lips and looked away.Sandilo kicked himself inwardly.F***! Did he have to screw everything up so soon? Damn! His temper. His eyes darted around the room looking for inspiration to cheer Vivi
Vivian stopped pacing after a while. She stood right in front of him and said in a cold voice, “Your punishment is that you are never allowed to touch me…”Colour drained from Sandilo’s face. His heart stopped beating and he felt a ringing sensation in his ears. He could do anything for Vivian but this….Vivian bent over her knees laughing. When she looked up there were tears in her eyes. She said, “Look at your face. It looks pale as a ghost as if I have given you a death sentence…”Sandilo groaned and said, “You have no idea, Vivi… This is worse than a death sentence… You want me to…”His words were cut off as Vivian pressed her lips against him. Sandilo stood frozen for a moment before responding. He placed his right arm over her waist and drew her closer. With his other hand, he brushed away the locks of hair that were getting in the way. He lifted her chin to g
Vivian sniffled and continued her rant, “ Oh, Sandy… you have no idea how much my heart ached to hold you one last time before I died… I wanted to…”Vivian felt like her heart would burst at the intensity of the emotions she was feeling. She burst into loud sobs burying her head in Olcan’s fur.Olcan moved away causing her to stagger. She looked up at him with a hurt expression. The next moment, his claws started retracting and the fur vanished. She was too stunned to react. She watched him as he took his human form. Her face turned red and she closed her eyes, embarrassed to see him naked. The moment Vivian said that she wanted to hold him, Sandilo’s control snapped. He took over Olcan, not caring that he had no change of clothes. He pulled Vivian into a tight hug the moment the transformation was complete. The fire that had been burning him all this while was calmed by her touch. He moaned as he molded
The moment Vivian crashed the device against the wall, a strange feeling overcame her. Before she could realize what was happening, she found herself falling downward.“Ahhh!!!” A loud scream erupted in her mouth as her heart came to her mouth. The scream was lost somewhere in the air as she fell sharply towards the Lycan World. She covered her ears midair as the spaceship exploded. The waves of the sound hit her accelerating her fall. The temperature around her rose, scorching her skin. The flames lapped and almost touched her fur… fur… it was then Vivian realized that Rewa had taken over. She made the mistake of looking downward. She was at such a height that she could see the curve of the planet. The fall was very steep and there was no way she could survive it.*F*** Rewa! What the heck do you think you are doing?**I am trying to save our life… Unlike you I don’t wish to die so early!**Wow! I can
