Cleaning Up Messes

I stared at the vampire king for a few seconds and the wind blew a few leaves on the ground. In the distance, we could hear a wolf howl. The moon still sat in the sky and my nose hurt a bit because of how cold it was.

“So what do you say, she-wolf?” Jacob walked close to me and extended his hand for a handshake. He had a smirk on his face that annoyed me but I knew that I had not much of a choice. “Work with me or go to jail?”

I looked down at his pale hand and I reluctantly shook it as I swallowed. “Okay, you have a deal. I will try to get the others on board. We would hack the gateway and allow your sleeper agents in Beacon.” My voice was strained and I felt a heaviness in my chest.

“Great.” He chortled, and then we broke the handshake. “I will be watching.” He then ran his hands through his hair. Right before my eyes, his body began to turn to black ashes. Within seconds, he was gone with the wind.
