Chapter Three

That was the CEO of the company, and that was Collins Walker. I was fighting myself in my head, I embarrassed myself in the presence of the CEO.

I face palmed myself because I couldn't believe that I had an altercation with the CEO now I'm sure that I won't be given the job.

"Hey Liz" Mario walked into the cafe for his afternoon shift

"Hey" I sighed putting my head down on my palms

"What's wrong? How did the interview go?"

"I'm so ashamed of myself right now" 

"Tell me what happened don't keep me in suspense" He raised my face with his fingers to look at him.

"Well, the interview was nice except I exchanged a few words with the CEO but on my part, I didn't know he was the CEO he was just annoying and we almost kissed".

He looked at me in disbelief "Tell me you're joking please"

"Unfortunately I'm not, I'm so embarrassed"

"Chill out, you mean to tell me that you and the CEO almost locked lips!?" He screamed

"Shushhhh you don't want people hearing you" I looked around to see if anyone heard him

"I'm sorry but you need to tell me the whole thing right now" he insisted. 

"There's nothing to tell you let's force on the important thing here, I had a lot of word exchange with him, and I feel bad"

"You should be, I've always warned you about your big mouth but you wouldn't listen now look".

"Don't make me feel more guilty than I already am" He just looked at me like a disappointed parent and went inside to change.

The day went by and my head kept replaying the altercation I had with Mr. Collins and the mere thought of him touching me made me wet.

My shift ended and I waved Mario goodbye leaving the cafe for my second job of the day which was a cleaning service.

I got to the house I was working and immediately set to work because the people living in it were mean and I wasn't ready for any confrontation.

I made the house clean quickly, collected my money, and left. I stopped by the store to get some groceries because my house was already dry of food.

I was so happy that the weekend was almost here, I didn't have any shift or side job to do so I could relax.

I got myself some snacks, bread, eggs, milk, cans of soup, fruits, and vegetables, I couldn't get much because I didn't have a car to carry them all.

I stopped by Mac Donald's to get myself a treat because I've really been working hard and I've not treated myself nicely.

Walking back home my phone rang, twice but I couldn't pick it up because my hands were filled up.

Getting home I unpacked everything I got and place them in the refrigerator, went to have a shower, and wore my most comfortable shirt and shorts.

Bringing out my Mac Donald's I remembered I had a call earlier, I searched for my phone and found it inside my couch, checking the call log I saw it was a private number that called me.

I wasn't bothered because I knew it was a scam, this wasn't the first time I have been called by a private number.

Placing my phone on my coffee table it immediately vibrated so I picked it up to see it was an email from the board of directors of Walker Enterprises.

I visibly shook while reading it-

Dear Elizabeth Smith,

We were all very excited to meet and get to know you over the interview.

We were impressed by your response and enthusiasm and would like to formally offer you the position of the personal assistant.

We will be offering you a monthly salary of two thousand dollars.

Your expected starting date is on the 21st of May, 2021 at 8:00 AM.

Board of Directors.

I cried out loud, I didn't expect to be given the job after what I displayed in the interview. I read and reread the email over and over because I still couldn't believe it.

I picked up my phone and dialed Mario's number to share the good news with him, he picked on the third ring

"Hey Liz" 

I couldn't form words to say, I burst into another round of tears.

"Woah woah woah, are you okay?"

"Yes I am" I managed to say

"So why are you crying?" 

"Don't mind me it's tears of joy, I called to tell you that I just got an email saying I got the job"

"You mean the job at Walker Enterprises?" He asked in disbelief 

"Exactly! That job" I told him, he screamed so hard that I had to remove the phone from my ear.

"Oh my goodness dear I'm so so happy for you" he gushed 

"Thank you, I still can't believe that I was chosen even after what I displayed"

"The CEO was probably drawn to you who knows" I could hear him smirking while saying that. I laughed out loud because I couldn't imagine that.

"Anyways I'll be resuming on Monday so I have this weekend to quit my other jobs and guess what"

"What?"

"I'll be paid two thousand dollars every month can you believe that?" I said with pride 

"Girl be for real now"

"I'm not joking it was stated in the mail, I was shocked because I would be receiving that huge amount of money each month, don't worry I'll buy you a house" We both laughed together.

"That will be so nice of you at least one of us is getting rich" I was happy I had Mario by my side, I don't know what I would do or where I would be without him.

"But I have a problem" I had my fingers crossed 

"What is it"

"Well I'll need some money to go office shopping because I do not have any cooperate wears, I'll pay you back I promise".

I hated asking people for help, and even though he has been my best friend for a long I wasn't comfortable asking him.

"I'm not bothered about you paying girl, how much will you be needing?"

"Three hundred dollars" I muttered 

"Okay, I don't have that amount now but I'll ask Paul and send you the money"

"Thank you so much I appreciate this".
