"Nonsense! Just call me Emily. I feel so old when you refer to me as Mrs. Kentley. And it sounds too formal too." Emily complained as she exercised the next morning alongside Paige.
Emily was one great woman full of life and vibe. They ran the treadmill as they talked about everything and nothing. The Kentley's mansion houses a gym, a music studio, a mini cinema that could contain at least twenty people, a swimming pool, a Garden, a tennis court, a football pitch and a mini playground. It was indeed an all in one kind of home. Once again, Paige reminded herself that money was good."I'd love to call you mother if you don't mind." She told Emily. Since she would feel so odd calling the woman Emily."That sounds far better." Emily agreed. In no time, they finished at the gym and went to their various rooms for a quick shower.Paige spent the previous night unpacking and getting used to her space, and she planned on spending the whole day with Emily. She made a draft of the best type of food for her, paying attention to her favorite meals and trying her best to incorporate them even in bits to her daily meal plan. Her plan was to gradually wean Emily off the antihypertensive and replace it with a healthy lifestyle starting from the things she eats, to her fitness journey. And she knew that achieving it will be a gradual processShe quickly made a mental note of her activity for the following day and concluded that she would spend some of her day doing grocery shopping for Emily's meal plan. Satisfied with her plan, she shared it with her hostess over dinner and was reassured that a car and chauffeur would be available to take her to the grocery store and anywhere she wanted to go within Yardstin and its environment.Dinner that night was just Paige and Emily. The Kentley sisters left earlier and no one saw Simon all through the day. Paige tried to imagine what Simon could be doing.'He could be in his room .' She thought as she remembered seeing one of the maids coming down the stairs with a tray in hand.Looking across the table to Emily, Paige smiled happily. She was happy to be around to keep the older woman company. She wondered how bored Emily used to be in such a big house all by herself.Heading back to her room after dinner, she decided against the silent warning in her head to check on her neighbor. She tiptoed to his door to see if he was around and just like the other day, his door was slightly open and he lay there on his bed with only shorts on, his upper body exposed showing off his well trimmed muscles.Sighting his perfect skin even from a distance, Paige appreciated his creator on his behalf for creating such a fine man, a lovely piece of art.Having fed her eyes enough, she headed back to her room. Once inside, she made her way to the bed and opened her social media account. She swiped through her pictures and smiled as she saw the pictures June and Anna complained about. The images brought back memories of good old days when she was still battling with school. Her smile gradually turned to sobs as she recalled what she went through in school, what her stepmother put her through. The fact that the woman even went as far as selling off her father's textile factory and gave her not even a penny out of the money she realized from the sale still breaks her head each time she remembers. She knew that Paige was in dire need of money for her education. Yet she ignored the poor girl. If there was anything Paige Patterson learnt that period, it was how to be strong even in this midst of tribulations. She was most grateful that she had Stefan then. He was her backbone and has never made her feel little about herself nor has he compared her to any woman before. She believed he loves her just as much as she does and this alone brought great comfort to her. At least that only meant that she was enough for him.She was also thankful for friends like Nathan, Paula, her best friend and roommate back in school, and now her employers, the Kentleys.Indeed, life was beginning to feel good already and she could feel her blessings already pouring in. In the midst of her thoughts, she dozed off and that night, she dreamt of her dear father and mother. It was indeed a beautiful dream.*****Paige woke up the following morning feeling not so great. She reasoned that it could be her body trying to adjust to the new environment. So she didn't exercise with Emily but was present to cheer the woman up while she did her thing.Seeing how down Paige was feeling, Emily had the maid Samira help with everything Paige needed for the day. Even when she insisted on doing some herself, Emily made sure she was not allowed to.At breakfast, they talked about Emily and the history surrounding the mansion which Emily informed Paige that it has been in existence for a hundred years and has been handed down through the generations of the Kentleys."I'll be visiting a friend today." Emily said changing the topic. "And I think it's best if I go grocery shopping at once. I'll just go with one of the help and we'll visit the grocery store on our way back. Don't worry about me, I'll be fine. Just have some rest for today. You really need it." Emily told her and squeezed her hand reassuringly.Paige nodded gratefully, certain that she needed that rest. She just wasn't her usual self and deep down, she had this hollow feeling of impending doom.About an hour later, Emily left the mansion with the grocery list.Paige lay on the bed in her room and stared wide eyed at the white ceiling trying as much as possible to put herself to sleep. But she soon realized that it was a futile venture. After several attempts. She finally picked up one of her favorite books from Ray Gibson and left for the garden behind the mansion. Anna had taken her on a tour of the house the previous day before leaving for Acubana and they even exchanged phone contacts. The beautiful mix of tulips, rose, Daisy and the pride of Barbados seeped into her nostrils as she arrived at the garden. She sat down on one of the hammocks and started her book."You sure know the best place to read." A voice came behind her. It was that same velvety-masculine voice she heard the previous day.She knew who it belonged to even without turning. But she still turned and greeted him."Hello Simon." She called and he nodded, standing behind her. His unusual closeness and arousing smell of his cologne made her senses go numb for a moment."Sunflower," he called with a mischievous smile. "Tell me, do you like watching pornography?" Simon asked unashamedly.Paige was taken aback by the question and she chose to not give an answer to him."I don't have an answer to your question Simon." She replied, closing her book, ready for whatever he had to say. With her reply, he came even closer, the fabric of his shirt grazed her neck. Slowly, he placed his hands lazily on the back of her neck and Paige's senses slowed even more. She thanked her stars that he was standing behind her and as such couldn't see what effect he was having on her."Yet I long for an answer from you. Do you like pornography Sunflower?" He asked again."I haven't seen a lot of pornography in my life." Paige found herself giving him an answer. "I can't say that I love or hate it." She answered truthfully.Without warning, Simon brought his lips close to Paige's ears. She felt a warm and cold tingling sensation at the same time."I know you come to my room." He whispered. "Do you like what you see?" He touched the crease of her ears softly and Paige let out a soft suppressed moan.Who knew that the crease of her ears held such bouts of arousal."Yes." She whispered back without thinking.Do you want to feel it." He asked as he planted tiny kisses in her ear lobe followed by a tiny bite and a lick."Stop." Paige managed to say as her lips quivered."Should I stop or continue Sunflower?" Simon asked, smiling. "I have a boyfriend." Paige shut her eyes and finally forced herself to say it. Extremely grateful to God that her brain was still functioning."Hmmm," he hummed. He moved his hands down her shoulder and just when they were close to her bosom, he stopped. "I'll always leave my door open for you then." He said and left the same way he came. After a few seconds, she opened her eyes, with Simon nowhere to be found. She checked around to be sure no one saw them. Feeling the heat in-between her legs, she stood up and made her way upstairs as fast as her legs could carry her.As she walked to her room, she tried to imagine what would have happened if she had allowed herself to get carried away. It's been eight days in The Kentley's Mansion and Paige has been nothing but happy and at peace. She made sure to avoid any further encounter with Simon by avoiding the garden totally and timing herself to know the best time to either go up to her room or leave her room for downstairs. She also ensured to always be in an open space, surrounded by at least help whenever he was around. As she promised herself to be on her best behavior and not allow any source of distraction to deter her from carrying out the job she was paid for. Paige sat on one of the chairs in the sitting room as she dialed her boyfriend's number for the thirtieth time that morning. He hasn't been picking her calls and this has been going on for three days. She'd thought it was nothing serious until it lingered till the third day. After the last ring, she placed a call to her secretary at Pai-boxes. "I haven't spoken to Stefan for days now, is everything okay over there?" She asked immediately Aurora picked up.
That night, dinner commenced with just Paige and Emily. Midway into dinner, Simon joined them. Emily had noticed the change in Paige's demeanor earlier in the day, so she didn't bother her with unnecessary discussions. Dinner continued in silence even with Simon's presence. Emily was the first to finish eating and excused herself. With Emily gone, Paige's discomfort grew. Since the incident at the garden, she had always avoided being alone with Simon. But the night felt different even with the presence of Sherman and some of the maids that were all standing in the room." Paige prayed internally for them to continue eating in silence. She kept her eyes glued on her plate as she pushed a slice of vegetable into her mouth. "Leave us." Simon finally spoke for the first time that evening. He spoke to no one in particular but the maids, the few guards and Sherman started leaving the room. Paige shifted uncomfortably in her seat while waiting for whatever it is he was going to say. Once
By evening, Anna and Paige got back home completely exhausted. They had ended up buying both items Paige believed she wouldn't be wearing anything soon. This wasn't because they didn't look good. It was because they were too good to be worn just anywhere."Has my brother been downstairs since he got back?" Anna asked the maids that helped with their bags."No Miss Ann, he only requested a cup of ginger tea a couple of hours ago" One of the maids replied.Anna heaved a deep sigh looking at Paige with pleading eyes. "What's wrong?" "Could you please check on him when you get upstairs since the both of you stay on the same floor." Anna pleaded in reply."Sure." Came the innocent reply from Paige.Once they got inside the mansion, Paige and Anna took the stairs and drifted to their various floors when they got to the floor Anna shares with her sister and Emily. The maid helped Paige with her bags and had them packed carefully into her wardrobe before leaving the room. Alone in her room,
The morning was cold. There was no sign of rain but the weather was gloomy and rather angry with not so audible thunder rumbles every now and then. Nobody in the Kentley's Mansion dared leave the house in such bad weather. That morning the Kentley's exquisite dining room was graced by three members of the Kentley family and their guest, Paige.Paige wrapped herself in a thick royal blue hand woven sweater with a color matched cotton pants. She was the only heavily dressed person at the table. "I guess you don't do too well with cold weather?" Emily asked Paige, breaking the silence in the room. Paige looked up from her food, and shook her head in agreement."No, I don't." She replied with a soft smile. "I catch cold easily. So I endeavor to cover up." "Why are you eating that? I thought you never liked turkey?" Anna asked Emily, surprised. Emily who was having a breakfast of skinless Turkey breast, vegetable and skim milk shrugged her shoulders. "Paige drafted out a meal plan for
Anna smiled as she caught a fragment of their conversation. She was indeed enjoying this version of her brother. "Are you ready mum!" Simon asked his mother. "Yes please." Emily replied. She was putting on a pearl-laced gown that Paige helped pick for her the previous day while Anna had on a silk plain black gown void of any extra design. She was a known lover of simple dresses but the opposite was the case when it came to her accessories which always help do the introductions whenever her outfit fails to.Simon looked at everyone, satisfied with their outfits, he swiped his hand into Emily's and led the way outside.Getting outside, Paige quietly looked around for Charlotte, just like she did the day she went shopping with Anna Kentley, but couldn't find her car anywhere."I didn't get your name inside Miss." Nelson said as he approached Paige, interrupting her thoughts. "Paige, my name is Paige." She replied, turning to him."Do you need a ride, Paige?" Nelson further asked with
Arm in arm, they stepped onto the dancefloor. The band began the first strains of a song from Urbanmen and they moved easily, naturally into the music. Frankie was a skilled dancer, agile and confident in his lead."What brings you to Yardstin?" Frankie asked."I got temporary employment." She replied truthfully. He raised his brow, throwing a glance at her lovely face. "If you don't mind me asking, what kind of job is that?" "Let's talk about you." She replied with a smile, ignoring his question. "What are you doing in Yardstin?" She said,"Such a smart young lady." Frankie chuckled. "Well, I work here. I'm a businessman. I work with Tedson and co." He said taking a few steps back to allow her some room to twirl."The furniture company?" She asked, recalling the famous Tedson and Co. furniture company from television jingles and social media ads. Who doesn't know Tedson?"Yes, the furniture company." He replied. "Now your turn," He lowered his head bringing their faces in close proxi
Simon smiled and instead of stepping away, he moved closer to her."Why don't you tell me something sweet, or give me something to hold on to. I can't lie, I'm almost going crazy seeing you everyday. You are beautiful. The way You move, Gosh!!! Sunflower, you are perfect and I'm being honest right now." He confessed.Paige felt uncomfortable seeing him move closer to her. She looked around the room and realized for the first time they were the only ones in there. Her eyes wandered to the locked door, then back at Simon."You need to go, or I'll be forced to scream." She warned him. But instead, he got even closer and only stopped when they were a few inches apart. "I'd love to hear you scream my name. Though I will love it even more if the scream is as a result of pleasure, a pleasure I'm giving you." He told her.Paige felt the wetness between her legs. She swallowed hard in an attempt to calm herself down. The rawness of his words, the honesty and the fact that he could keep a strai
Paige watched him disappear among the crowds at the event, then she went in search of Frankie at the bar. She found him seated, his eyes on her all the way as if in waiting. "Hey." Frankie called, taking a seat for her."Hey, sorry for keeping you waiting.""It's fine." He replied. "What would you like to take?""Something with less alcohol." They were speaking about almost everything. And after a while, Frankie asks for her contact again. She took his cellphone and was about punching in the digits when they got interrupted by Simon."Miss. Paige, my mother needs you, right now. It's a kind of emergency." He said tapping her gently on the shoulder."Oh really." Paige asked worriedly. Frankie and Simon glared at each other. A mix of anger and hate lingered in between stares. Yet none of them said any word to each other."Can we go?" He asked, turning to Paige."Yes please. Where is she?" "This way, I'll show you." He replied pointing towards the stairs at the end of the hall. "I'l
A gorgeous hostess led them upstairs to a quieter VIP bar that overlooked the stage and dance floor below. They were shown to a small seating area by the balcony and settled at a table hugged by two half-moon velvet sofas. The hostess propped a beverage menu in the center and said, "Your drinks are on the house. Enjoy your evening.""Wow!" Ugo whistled. "We scored.""I think that hawker recognized you from one of your court cases. Because how the hell are we getting such VIP treatment when we're yet to spend a dime." Daisy said out loud."Wouldn't that rock." Ugo grinned. "Or it could be the chef guy.... That dude is full of surprises. I've gotten too many gifts than I can't count since I met him. Yet, he's not interested in hitting this ass." "He could be pretending." Daisy fixed in. "Or taking it slow. The good old ways. He might be hoping to win you over thoroughly before making a move. In order words, he wants you to....""Loose my damn guard. Mmmm, not happening, not gonna happ
"Look what I brought you." Daisy said instead of arguing. She pulled the champagne bottle and the chocolates and crackers out of the paper bag. "I'm not quite sure how cold the champagne is anymore, but we still have to drink it. And I heroically saved all of them, including the chocolates and crackers from the guy I was stuck in the elevator with, so we’d better enjoy them.""Well, of course we still have to drink that champagne. Give me that." Ugo grabbed the hotel water glasses as Daisy pulled the foil off the champagne bottle. "I can’t believe you were stuck in the elevator all that time. And why weren’t you texting me back. Was your battery out?" "Okay, there’s a story there, but let’s toast to you first before I get into all of that." Daisy twisted the metal lid open and pulled out the cork with a gentle pop. After she poured a healthy amount into each of their glasses, she held hers up. "To Ugo Chike, the first black female partner at Jade and Judy, in over ten years. To a br
"I've been doing fine for years now. Please just go back to wherever you're coming from and let me be."Brett moved over to her and crotched down opposite her. "Go on a date with me, over the weekend."Daisy burst into laughter. "Is this guy a joke or something." She asked rhetorically, loud enough to Brett's hearing. "No.""Come on.....""I'm not going on any godforsaken date with you Mr Lexington. Not in your wildest dream.""Okay." he said pushing two open hands forward to calm her down. "Go to a fundraiser with me then. Technically, I wanted you to be my plus-one at the fundraiser organized by the Mayor over the weekend and maybe we could go on a date afterwards. But since you said no date, let's go to the fundraiser together." He offered."No.""Daiz. I promise you, if after the fundraiser, you decide that you don't want to be see me ever again. I won't bother you. Just this once, please?"Daisy became calm for a moment. She looked up at his angelic face and watched him flash a s
CHAPTER 1"What time do you even plan on getting here. Are you sure you're still coming?" Daisy listened to Ugo whine over the phone."I'm all dressed up already. You'll see me soon, I promise. I just had a really stressful day at work and I had to make a quick stop at home to get into a more comfortable footwear." she tried explaining. Pushing the door of her walk-in closet close, she pulled a black leather jacket across her black singlet, sat on the bed and bent low to buckle her sandals when she heard Ugo's next words."You're changing footwear? Don't tell me you plan on wearing any of those boring flat sandals of yours.""Something wrong my flats?" "Really, you're going to ask me that." Ugo boiled."We're going out to celebrate for crying out loud. You have to look the part. Put on a pair of those gorgeous Louboutins you got there. Why do you splash so much money on exotic footwear when you don't wear them.""Hello, are you forgetting something? You're forgetting that you make me

Paige was more shaken than she cared to admit. Somehow she did not expect Stefan to openly confess his infidelity. She had thought perhaps he would attempt to deny it."Why, Stefan?"He reached for her hands, but she pulled them out of his reach. "Why, Paige? Because you were always so unapproachable. There were times when you turned me on, made me so hot that I thought I was going to explode... and ......... and then you would just put up that damned 'don't touch me' shield. And when you did that I had to have someone else. Any woman.""You're a liar, Stefan. Why didn't you tell me that you wanted me?"He managed a winning smile. "I guess way back in my head I wanted to save you for marriage."Paige's smile was cynical and sinister. "It's too bad you didn't save Aurora, because I'm history, Stefan Riley."She stood up, holding her glass. Stefan never had time to react when she walked to his side and emptied the glass in his lap.She replaced the glass on the table, smiling. "That shou
The next morning, Paige woke up to an empty bed. Simon didn't come in throughout the night and she was just too stubborn to go to him. She sighed, had a quick shower and left to grab a quick coffee in the kitchen. Veronica was prepping their breakfast when she showed up and she took two biscuits from the freshly baked ones and cup of coffee."Have a nice day Mrs. Veronica." She called."You too ma. But won't you eat something better than just biscuits? I'm baking banana bread." She called after Paige."Yummy, keep some for me. I'll be back in a couple of hours." She replied from the living room. She scanned the house and saw no trace of Simon. Gulping down her coffee and biscuits she rushed to the kitchen to wash the cup but it was taken by Veronica. "I'll do that ma'am." She offered. "Thank you so much." She grabbed her phone and sent Simon a quick text telling him where she was headed before opening the door. Nicon appeared almost immediately, neatly dressed and ready to go wher
They floated together, each motion smooth and fluid as if the music had been choreographed just for them and them alone. Unspoken whispers and desires raced back and forth, telegraphing a savage hunger, a desperate need. Their bodies were in perfect harmony. Paige needed and Simon fed her.The desire to share her body with Simon Kentley surpassed all reason and common sense. But at that moment common sense was what Paige lacked most. She wanted to experience the waves of ecstasy he had given her earlier; she wanted the peace Simon offered, and in turn she would give him the love he sought from a woman. The musical selection ended and Simon led Paige through the throng. The next number was a rocking, upbeat tempo which got everyone to their feet, moving in time to the pounding, driving rhythm.Simon caught Tenor's arm. "We'll be on our way now.""You're leaving?" Tenor asked. Simon nodded, and Paige was as surprised as Tenor. "Give them whatever they want," he informed Tenor."You're
Fiona boldly walked up to them and flashed a smile."Who the hell let this pest in for god's sake." Simon swore under his breath making Paige giggle. "Hi Mr. Kentley." Fiona started with her annoying voice. "Miss Ruben, how are you?" Simon called coldly but Fiona did not seem to notice the coldness in his voice. "I'm managing to survive." She replied. Leaning forward, she peered at Paige. "Hi there, it's you again." She smiled "Won't you introduce us officially Mr. Kentley. I mean we're all here because of her." She said, draping her arm on Simon's hand.He gently removed her arm. "Miss Ruben, this is Paige Patterson, my girlfriend."A frown marred Fiona's beautiful face. "Your girlfriend." She murmured in annoyance."Fiona's father is a business pal of my dad's," Simon stated, deliberately ignoring Fiona. "This woman is no fucking girlfriend of yours!" Fiona shouted.Paige reacted as if she had been shot. Fiona's voice was strident, hysterical. Heads turned in their direction.Sim
