Chapter 8 How Dare You?

Serena looked pale as she watched the screen blinking and not stopping, judging that the other side was about to run out of patience before she hit the answer button.

"What are you doing? It took you so long to answer!"

Michelle's tone was bad and her eyes were full of sparks.

"What?"

"Get in touch with your sister more often in the future! Better yet, invite her to Harrington Grand Estate, I heard Matthew's cousin Jordan isn't married. If it works out, we'll be in charge of your grandmother's affairs until the end, and you'll have someone close to you in the Harrington family from now on."

Before the words were out of her mouth, Serena knew what they’re planning.

Samantha had been uneducated all day, had written a book about her love life at such a young age, and had been clamoring to marry a man of the people.

Jordan is Matthew's cousin, not to mention his good looks, he is also a famous playboy in the social circle, this kind of man who has seen all kinds of beautiful women, how could he be interested in Samantha?

And hasn't Samantha just insulted by Nina?

Now they want to use her! They really don't know what's good for them!

The bottom of Serena's eyes were cold, ''Michelle, it seems like you don't have a very clear perception of your own daughter, Jordan is the offspring of the Harrington family. Graduated from one of the best schools in the world, possesses on untold wealth."

"And your dear daughter, Samantha, has been academically wasted since high school, the college she was able to get into was bought by you with your money, and all the things she has done over the years are there for everyone to see, do you really think Jordan sees her?"

Serena's words left Michelle fuming with anger, her mind racing to find a suitable retort, but none were to be found.

A sinister glint flashed in her eyes, and she gripped her phone so tightly it seemed as if she wanted to strangle it.

"Serena! Have you lost your senses? How dare you speak to me like that! Do you intend to hasten that old woman final breath?"

Serena, unperturbed by Michelle's furious tone, merely replied,  "I'm just trying to get you to wake up." Serena's voice was light and her face was expressionless, "The wealthy families don't look at mentally challenged women. Otherwise, why do you think Mr. Richard chose me?"

In the Harrington family, Richard had the absolute right to speak, and anyone he couldn't look at was a luxury to even set foot in the door of the Harrington Grand Estate.

Let alone marrying his grandson—anyone foolish enough to try would find themselves thrown into the Pacific Ocean, food for the sharks.

Michelle's chest heaved with anger, but she managed to suppress it for a moment, "Your father has asked you to return in two days; I'll discuss this with you then."

After hanging up, Michelle's eyes narrowed and she immediately called the hospital again to inquire, learning that Serena had changed wards for the old undead, a cold smile flashed across her face, so she had found someone she could rely on.

But how could she give her that chance! Impossible!

Serena heard Michelle hang up and raised an eyebrow, letting her go home?

Just in time for her revenge plan to move forward!

Two days later, Wilson Manor.

Serena arrived at the door and overheard Samantha's heated conversation from inside.

"Dad, I gave that bracelet away, don't blame me, do you? It was a dead woman's item anyway. Keeping it in our house would only bring bad luck,"

"To whom did you give it?" There was something majestic and reproachful in the male voice.

"Oh, Why are you curious? It's just an insignificant bracelet.! You said you didn't care about that BIT-"

"Samantha!" Michelle's stern voice interrupted their argument.

Serena's footsteps to the doorway swayed momentarily.

Stephen had given her mother's bracelet to his mistress's daughter and even allowed her to give it away.

Serena felt only pain in her heart, like a cool refreshing crushed ice poured over her heart! She listened to the voices of them inside with nothing but bitter hatred in her eyes.

She never took the time to resent anyone, but the shamelessness of this family was too much for her to forget.

"Serena." the maid whispered, finally noticing her presence, and a few family members on the couch turned to see her.

"Oh, who do we have here? It's Mrs. Harrington," Samantha sneered, having just been scolded by Michelle and still in a sour mood. She had to take it out on Serena.

Seeing that Serena didn't say anything but just stared coldly at her, she became even more angry and then added, contemptuously "Why are you here all alone?  Where is your husband? Is he dying?"

Samantha finished her insult and laughed mockingly, her eyes gleaming with malice.

The family had grown accustomed to the bickering between the two, so no one intervened.

But suddenly!

*SLAP*

A loud sound echoed through the room as Serena's palm connected with Samantha's cheek.

Samantha gasped in disbelief, her own hand pressed to her cheek where a bright red mark was forming.

"How DARE you!"
