Ryder's POV For a werewolf, especially higher class werewolves like Commanders, Betas and Alphas, the need for training is in our blood. We yearn for it, desire it, we need it! It's who we are. We are fighting machines, and have the urge to spar, train harder, fight, and fight some more… It was weird to be on the training field again. Before Angelica's death, I returned to the pack at least once a week for training. After her death, I stopped going altogether. After training, I was exhausted, but I welcomed it. It took my mind off of her. From the moment my head hit the pillow last night, she was all I could think of. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw her long dark hair and smooth skin covered in tattoos. It was frustrating. I didn't want to think of her, or anyone else but Angelica, but this mysterious woman consumed my thoughts. When I went to sleep, it was no better; in fact, it was worse. When I went to sleep, she was there. Her sultry voice lured me in. It felt so real; she t
Third Person's POV His mouth opens, and his head moves fast, catching the grape thrown his way. Ollie falls back against the ground as he exhales. His mouth moves as he chews the grape while looking at the sky.“Do you think we'll find our mate soon?” Ollie asked.“I don't know, but I'm going to vomit if we share the same mate like some twins do,” Leo said as he tossed another grape toward his brother's face, and Ollie opened his mouth and caught it. The very thought of finding their mate, only to discover they share one, which flips a switch, making his brother also his mate, is a disturbing thought. Leo looks at his brother and gags, trying not to vomit at the thought of being intimate with him. Ollie chewed the grape and swallowed it.“Well, that only happens with identical twins,” Ollie said, and Leo stopped chewing and stared at his brother. “You do realize WE are identical twins?!” Leo asked, or more like stated, as he moved his finger back and forth, pointing between them.
Third Person's POV Ryder sat outside on the patio with his laptop, trying to finalize his daughter's birthday party planning. When she came bouncing out of the back door, he closed the laptop and smiled. Her red hair bounced, and her smile was like sunshine. Time seemed to pause for a moment as he realized how much she looked like her mother. She was so soft, good, and pure, just like her mother. “Hi, my little angel,” Ryder said as he opened his arms and welcomed her in. “Hi, Daddy,” Azalea said as she wrapped her arms around her father's neck. “Here you go, my little lady,” Ryder said as he handed her a basket of birthday invites. She's been begging her father to let her pass them out herself. She thought it would be fun to walk around and pass out her invites. A personal touch! She thought, smiling as she took the invites and kissed his cheek. “Thank you, Daddy! I'm going to pass these out now!” she said excitedly, and he chuckled. “I figured you would want to. Have fun, sweet
Ryder’s POV I chuckled and shook my head as I watched my daughter bounce off to pass out her invitations. I open my laptop but pause when I feel someone pushing against the link. “Hey, there's someone at the front gate for you. The guard at the gate is new to this position, and he doesn't know your link since you're also new,” Tate said through the link.“Okay, thank you,” I said as I closed my laptop.I turned and looked around before spotting a Delta 1 I trusted. After handing him my laptop, I headed toward the front gate. I was confused the whole way there. Who could possibly be visiting me and not have access to enter the pack? This could only mean that they are not members of the Midnight Moon Pack or any pack affiliated with them. It can't be family, I'm an orphan, and my only friends reside between these three packs. Who in the hell could it be? I wondered as I slowed to a jog and began walking before exiting the tree line. When I did, the gate and guard house came into vie
Ryder’s POV Setting up my daughter's birthday party has been anything but easy. Every now and then, I hear her sultry voice whispering my name in my ear. The desire to see her is so strong that it's driving me crazy.I feel my phone vibrate, and I pull it out to find a message from a familiar number. My heart beat faster, and my thumb quickly moved to open the message.“Hey, Wolfie!” Her message starts, and my lips tug up at her nickname for me. I could hear her voice as I read the message. “I know things are complicated for you, but they don't need to be as complicated as you say. Come see me Friday night at the bar. I don't work this Friday, but I'll be up there hanging out. I hope to see you there.” I sat down, closed my eyes, and breathed out as I rested my forehead against the edge of the phone. I pulled the phone back, and my fingers began moving as I typed my reply. “I'm sorry! I don't think this is a good idea. I think it's best if you forget about me. You're a beautiful l
Third Person's POV Vanessa exhales as her back hits the bed. Her hands rest above her head as she stares at the ceiling. She doesn't like the feelings she has at the moment. Why did his words hurt? She wondered. Why did the way he grabbed her hurt the way it did? It's not like it hurt her. She's a vampire, an old and strong one. He would have to do much more than a firm grip to hurt her. “Aero,” She whispered, and after a few moments, his dark mist swirled on the bed next to her before he appeared. The elder appeared, laying on the bed beside her, and he turned to face her, popping his head on his hand. “Mmm, not a look I'm used to seeing on you,” Aero said when he saw the sad look on his friend's face. “Yeah, and I'm not used to feeling it! You know, I got that stupid job at the human bar because I was bored and needed entertainment. For the past 3 years, I have gotten my fill of entertainment from that place! Everything was perfect until HE showed up!” Vanessa said, and the Eld
Third Person's POV The day is bittersweet. Ryder watches his daughter on her 18th birthday as she mingles with family and friends. Everything is almost perfect. There's only one thing missing—one person who means the world to Ryder and Azalea: Angelica. It's been just a little over two years, and it still hurts like hell that she's not here. He wishes more than anything that when he scanned the party, his eyes would land on her beautiful face. He wishes he could see her smile, hear her laughter, look into her beautiful eyes, and smell her beautiful scent. He wished he could feel the warmth of her skin and the tingles dancing under his fingertips when he touched her. He wished he could feel her light; it was so strong. He could feel it from across the yard when she was in her garden, and he was cutting wood. He wonders if she's up there looking down on him and their daughter. He hopes she is at the very least, watching their daughter grow. He hears his daughter's laughter, blinks hi
Third Person's POV Shade was furious that Maverick walked away from her. He wanted his pretty little angel, and he wanted her now! He banged against the walls as hard as he could, and the Alpha's body trembled, and his steps faltered. Maverick stumbled, almost falling as Shade pushed forward harder than he ever had. The Alpha grabbed his head and grunted at the extreme pressure building inside. He dropped to his knees, and a moment later, with his eyes closed, he let go of his head, raised his face to the sky, and exhaled slowly. He could hear her feed rapidly approaching and her voice calling out, asking what was wrong. A smile spread across his face, and when his eyes opened, they were blood red. “Maverick! What's wrong?” his little angel asked as she stopped in front of him where he was on his knees and grabbed his face. She gasped when she looked into his eyes. They were different, much different. Her breath caught in her throat when he reached up, gently gripped her waist, an
Third Person's POV Maverick was surprised when Coal wanted to play a game of chess on Monday evening. Their game day is normally Wednesdays, and seeing as Maverick was going stir-crazy and about to lose his mind because his other half wouldn't stop crying about his “pretty little angel,” Maverick jumped at the opportunity for a distraction. Before the game even started, Maverick sensed something was wrong. The normal nonchippery Alpha was even less chippery than normal. It was like someone twisted the stick in his ass and bent it sideways. “So, are you going to tell me what's on your mind?” Maverick asked as he sat back in his chair and folded his arms over his chest. Coal blows out a breath as he sits back in his chair and drags his hand down his face. “I'm worried about my brothers.”“Which ones? Your parents popped children out like bunnies! You have a lot of Brothers,” Maverick said and Coal's face scrunched up in disgust. “The twins,” Coal said before reaching up and moving
Third Person's POV Ollie sat quietly in a chair while Leo and Brandon argued. If the Omega weren't so sad, he would have laughed at how nervous Brandon looked as Leo laid into him while waving the rules in his face.Brandon dropped his head and let out a breath when his mate turned away from him. Brandon wasn't sure what his brother was thinking. He didn't expect Anton to give Leo almost the same exact set of rules he gave Ollie. The only difference is that he's not asking Leo to call him Daddy, but he expects Brandon to punish him if he falls out of line.“If you don't, I will?... Who the fuck does he think he is?!” Leo yelled, repeating what Anton told Brandon when he saw the expression on his brother's face, letting him know he had no intentions of punishing Leo. Brandon had to restrain his mate to stop him from climbing over the desk to get to his brother. He was shocked at the words that flew out of his mouth. No one had ever talked to his brother like that. He thought he was g
Third Person's POV Leo refused to go to Brandon's room. He didn't want to share a room with someone who accepted Anton's behavior. No amount of begging and pleading from Brandon worked. The Omega returned to the room he spent with his parents the past week. Unfortunately, once he was inside the room and all alone, it was suddenly the last place he wanted to be. It felt suffocating in there; the walls felt like they were closing in on him. He snuggled the pillows his parents slept on, but it was no good. No one was there to hold him. No one was there to tell him everything would be okay. It was empty and quiet—too quiet! When Leo couldn't handle the silence any longer, he opened his door and found Brandon sitting outside, leaning against the wall. The Beta looked up, and Leo's lip trembled. As soon as Brandon opened his arms, Leo flew into them, crashing against the Beta's chest. “Can I take you to my room?” Brandon asked, and Leo nodded against his chest. Brandon collected the Ome
Third Person's POVXavier, Damien, and Theo spent the week with the twins and their new mates, and at the end of the week, they knew it was time to go. Even though they didn't want to leave their sons, they knew they had to. Neither twin wanted to leave their mate, and their parents couldn't force them—not without starting a war, which would only hurt the twins. “We'll be back next weekend to check on you. I want a call at least once a day,” Xavier said as he held the twins' faces, one cheek in each hand.Xavier looked back at Anton as he spoke.“If I don't hear from my son before I go to sleep I'm showing up and knocking on your door. And I'm not referring to the front gate or the front door of this pack house. I’m referring to YOUR door! There isn't a guard here that can stop the beast inside from getting to his sons, so I don't recommend crossing me!” Xavier said sternly, and his eyes flashed brown, the color of Bear’s eyes.Driving away and leaving their sons in that pack was one
Third Person's POV Theo sat on the bed, hugging the pillow and fiddling with it as Xavier paced the room. Damien followed closely behind, desperately trying to talk him down. The words spilled from the Alpha's mouth as he mumbled about choking the idiot, stabbing him in his sleep, slicing his throat, and ripping his heart out. Xavier had every death possible for Anton planned out by the time he was done pacing and just needed to choose which one was the right course of action. “M-maybe he's not as bad as he seemed. I mean, he was much different once he had Ollie in his lap. Maybe he just needed a little push to get there?” Theo said, and Xavier and Damien both stopped and looked at him. The Omega plucked at the pillow harder, and Damien crumbled. He quickly moved toward his Omega and climbed into bed. “I'm sorry! I didn't mean to forget about you. I just didn't want our Alpha to do something he would regret,” Damien said, and Theo immediately shook his head. “No! He has every rig
Third Person's POV The inside of the pack house matched the outside. It was very uninviting. The place was spotless and looked unlived in.It was oddly quiet, too quiet for a pack house. The maids were easily spotted; they were wearing black-and-white outfits. Xavier and Damien were alarmed when they saw two male Omegas wearing maid dresses, but a moment later, they saw another male Omega wearing black-and-white pants and a shirt.“Are your male Omegas forced to wear those dresses, or is that a choice?” Xavier asked.“Oh no! That's their choice! Those are our fem boys, or in the bedroom, they're called sissies,” Anton said, and Mark chuckled. The Alpha bit at his thumbnail as he looked over his shoulder at the two fem boys and shook his head when he saw one bend over and expose his ass. The sound of Xavier's throat clearing had the Alpha looking forward and smiling at Xavier. “I thought he missed a spot,” Anton said, and Mark snorted. After walking to the other side of the pack ho
Third Person's POV The twins were bubbling with excitement as they drove to the east side of the peninsula. Xavier focused on the road while Theo and the twins sang with the radio. Damien sat in the front passenger seat, scrolling through his emails and text messages, replying to the packs that responded to their request for a visit. “Well, that was the last one. They've all agreed to allow us to visit.” Damien said as he marked off the ones they visited the day before. The hotel they stayed in was 45 minutes behind them, and their first destination of the day was coming up on their right. The car slows, and the twins squeal as they turn into the long drive. They peer out the window, look into the woods, and wonder if their mate is out there. This pack seemed more rustic. The long driveway leading into the pack was gravel, and the guard house looked old. The car came to a stop as the guards approached, and Xavier rolled the window down. “My name is Xavier Davis,” Xavier said, a
Azalea's POVI stood there confused as he disappeared before my eyes. He disappeared into the shadow near the wall, and I stood there in shock. How could he do that? Instead of going for a walk, I turned around and headed back upstairs to my room. Once there, I lay down, and the events with him unfolded before my eyes. The moment I realized he was my mate. Instead of the reaction I've heard so much about, I received the complete opposite. He looked horrified to find out I was his mate. That didn't just sting a little; It felt like someone ripped my heart in half. I had heard so much about those tingles and always wondered what it would feel like when my time finally came and I found my mate. If he wouldn't accept me, I at least wanted to feel those tingles. I didn't expect them to feel so good. I didn't expect it to connect me to him even more. I didn't expect it to hurt so bad to hear him say he could never be with me, and I had never been so frightened in my life. The only thing t
Maverick's POVMy other half has been so depressed that I thought letting him out would cheer him up. We slipped out of the territory easily and found a small cave. He was eager to come out and stretch his limbs. As soon as he did, he dropped to the ground inside the cave and refused to get up. Now, here I am, stuck in Shade’s true form, lying on the floor inside a cave. This lovesick beast refuses to give me back control. He lies here, sighing periodically, filling the cave with smoke.“Shade, you have to give me back control. We have to get back before they find out we're missing.” I begged again, but just like last time, he ignored me.Time ticked by. Every now and then, the smoke intensified when his longing for her became stronger. His red eyes burned red like the flames of hell, and the heat in the cave was intense. Our ability to block out their sound was fractured by his heartbreak, and their voices seeped through, filling the cave with dark voices and whispers from the darkn
