Rejecting The Mate Bond

Alpha Darren felt a part of him burn in excitement as he realized that he had finally found his mate. The moon goddess had probably gotten scared by his ultimatum and had decided to grant his wish as soon as possible or maybe it all would have worked out if he had held a party like this a long time ago.

His gaze rested on the fiercely looking woman whose face slowly turned soft as she also realized that they had been made for each other, they were mates.

The beta had let go of her and she was now standing on her own, her eyes also on him.

Alpha Darren did not care if she was a strong wolf or as weak as an omega, he did not particularly need a strong mate, he had all the strength already, and though he wanted more, it was okay if it did not come from his mate. He just wanted her to be in the position of his Luna, to satisfy the people and further his goal of becoming the Alpha King in the nearest future.

Their eyes had made contact and their eyes were locked on each other as none of them spoke for long seconds.

The others around them were now looking between the Alpha and this lady who had broken his vase. It would have been the thoughts of 'oh, he's going to punish her' on their minds but no, that look on his face did not look so furious.

Madeline who had found her way to the place was more than shocked to find out that the one who had broken the vase was Lucy and she was still looking into the eyes of the Alpha, maintaining eye contact with him.

"I guess the goal of the party is achieved already" Alpha Darren finally spoke off, his eyes still on the choice that the moon goddess had made for him.

"The Alpha found his mate already?"

"Who is it?"

"Could it be her?"

Alpha Darren took one step and the entire place went silent again.

The next step he took covered most of the distance between him and his mate. He reached for her hand and took it in his own hands.

He cherished his vase a whole lot but there was a pretty good news that had overshadowed his anger.

Lucy literally froze as he took her right hand in his own hand, his grab was quite gentle but the skin of his hands were rough which was no shock considering who he was and how many battles he had been involved in.

Lucy was completely not expecting this to happen. How in the world would the moon goddess have decided to just punish her by mating her with the man whom she totally disliked.

"She is my mate" Alpha Darren declared and a few cheerful applause reverberated through the room. Most of the girls were not pleased, of course, the wanted to be the one in Lucy's shoes, but Lucy so much wanted to be in their own shoes, not noticed by the Alpha and not his mate too.

She said not a word as she was too shocked to come up with a sentence. Her eyes landed on Madeline who was clapping and cheering the loudest, she was absolutely glad that Lucy was the mate of the Alpha and yet it made her chuckle and laugh, knowing how much Lucy had insisted that this situation would never happen.

"You'd reject him if it happens... Why don't I see that happening?" She whispered underneath her breath as she continued clapping hard.

Alpha Darren had no other feeling particularly but he was pleased, pleased to have found someone that would satisfy the people's want for a Luna.

His grip on her hand turned firmer as he began pulling her towards the front of the crowd where he had been standing before the incident of his broken vase.

As she was being pulled, Lucy braved herself up for what she was going to do. She had meant it when she said she was going to reject him if he turned out to be her mate and she was going to do just that but that seemed to take a lot more courage than what she had.

She closed her eyes as he led her to the front, all the while, gathering more courage to reject him right in front of everyone. It would be crazy of her to do that but she was bent on doing just that.

She was going to humiliate the Alpha just like he had humiliated her father by chopping his finger off.

She opened her eyes as they got to the front of the crowd that was now a little bit more ecstatic as the girls were starting to put away their jealousy and be genuinely happy for their Alpha.

The news of him finding his mate was going to cause much more excitement amongst the older folks who wished for his mate so much.

"This event happened for only one reason and that..." He paused, studying the faces of the others in the crowd while Lucy had her head bowed down slightly.

"That is to find my mate. Wolves of the crosswalk pack. I, Alpha Darren Stones is quite delighted to have my mate tonight in the midst of you all" he raised her hand which he had been holding up in the air but Lucy chose that moment to jerk his hands off hers in a pretty forceful way that already implied what she was about to do next.

Loud gasps and look of horror flashed across the entire place as she removed her hands from the loose grip of the Alpha.

She gulped down, took in a deep breath and looked towards the Alpha, her mate.

"I, Lucy Adams of the Crosswalk Pack have no intention of being the mate of the honorable Alpha and for this reason, I reject the mate bond between us, Alpha Darren Stones."
