"God" Lucy groaned.

"I don't want to go to his party" She added and ran her hands down her dark voluminous hair..

"Why are you like this? Every girl wants to go" Madeline, her best friend replied.

"Then let every girl go over there. I can't turn out to be his mate anyways" she shrugged and settled onto the couch in the room.

"You cannot say that, Lucy. You might just turn out lucky and..." Madeline stopped talking as she realized she had just referred to the forbidden situation as lucky.

"Lucky?" Lucy scoffed.

Amongst the girls who drooled endlessly over their hot Alpha with the cold eyes, she was not among those girls, at least not anymore.

Her own father had had his right middle finger chopped off by the Alpha a year ago because of a flimsy mistake that could have been overlooked. Just that single act done to her own family had ended all of her fantasies for the Alpha.

Perhaps if this was two years ago, she would have been super excited to go to the party but not anymore, she hated the fact that they made it necessary for every mateless female wolf to go for the party.

"I would never be his mate and trust me, if I turn out to be his mate, I am going to plainly reject him, in front of everyone" she sounded firm and determined as she spoke and she really meant every word she said. She was going to embarrass him by rejecting him publicly.

"I'm thinking too much,I can't even be his mate" She whispered to herself.

"You are going to reject the Alpha himself?" Madeline asked.

"You do not even have to ask me about it because I am not even going to turn out to be his mate" she rasped.

"Fine, fine" Madeline groaned.

"You should pick a dress for yourself already. It is getting late" Madeline added making Lucy roll her brown eyes. She absolutely did not want to be there but she had no choice.

"Just pick me anything. I am not going over there to impress anyone anyways" she ran her right hand through her hair and then glanced at Madeline who seemed obsessed with choosing the perfect outfit to go to the party with.

"Your obsession with him would stop when he chops off your finger" she muttered underneath her breath but Madeline only chuckled.

*

Lucy stepped down from the car and closed her eyes for a short moment to feel the soft, cool breeze of the night.

"The air here feels so good" Madeline remarked.

"The air everywhere feels good, Madeline not just this place" her face scrunched up as she said the last two words.

Madeline shook her head with a small laugh.

"Alright, let's go in"

The both of them walked towards the main entrance of the mansion where several other girls were trooping in with excitement clearly written on their faces.

Lucy hesitated and took a deep breath in and out before walking into the mansion finally.

The place was huge, huge and beautiful.

"Oh my!" Madeline squealed excitedly.

"Take a look at that vase" she pointed to a vase that was seated a little bit towards the corner of the room.

Madeline was the biggest fan of things like this, old antique vases and other antiques but Lucy was completely uninterested in things like that.

"What vase?" Lucy groaned.

"That vase costs a whole lot"

"If it costs a lot, why should it be in here when a party is going to start. I bet the Alpha wants someone to break it and then he would have the perfect chance to chop off another person's fingers" Lucy huffed.

"Hey, you have to tone it down. We are in the house of the Alpha. You cannot talk ill about him" Madeline cautioned her.

Lucy rolled her eyes, her favorite thing to do and walked further into the midst of the other girls. The party had not yet officially started and the Alpha was nowhere to be seen but the place was getting quickly filled up with loads of excited girls who would not stop chattering about how much they wanted to be the mate of the Alpha.

Lucy stopped walking when she realized that Madeline was no longer by her side.

"Madeline?" She called and turned backwards, her eyes roaming around but she could not find Madeline.

"Madeline" she called again and began to walk through the crowd of girls to look for Madeline.

She just hoped that Madeline was not with the vase as she feared what the Alpha would do to her if she broke that vase.

"Her obsession for those things" she muttered as she walked through the crowd, maintaining her balance and avoiding a fall as more girls rushed in, pushing their way through.

Lucy glanced at the wristwatch she had on, it was just two minutes to the party starting.

"Good heavens, where is she?" She groaned and then a sudden silence fell over the place.

She did not have to be told before knowing who it was, it was definitely the man whom they had all gathered here for, Alpha Darren Stones, the man whose heart was stony just like his name.

Lucy stopped forcing her way through to search for Madeline. She herself was already beside the old vase and Madeline wasn't there. She understood that Madeline herself was probably looking for her and they had missed each other in a way.

Lucy stopped walking just like the other girls. She did not want to bring the attention of the Alpha to herself by forcing her way through.

"He might chop off my toes for that" she snorted as silently as she could.

"Good day everyone" the deep, manly voice of the Alpha rang through the entire place. Lucy was sure he was not using a microphone, with such mesmerizing voice, he definitely did not need it before capturing the attention of everyone in the room.

Slowly and gently, she turned to face forward and see the face of the man she once adored like all of these girls here but suddenly, she was pushed down and she came crashing right into something that pierced her skin.... The vase.

Lucy gasped as she realized what had just happened, she had just crashed into the beautiful antique.

Getting up seemed impossible for her as she let her eyes scan the crowd, she knew who had pushed her, Cassandra, a girl who hated her so much right from their childhood.

Lucy felt enraged. Cassandra had not just pushed her but pushed her to break an antique in the house of the stone hearted Alpha!

Fear, anger and panic all ran through her veins at the same time as she pulled herself up from the pieces of the broken vase.

Cassandra had a smirk on her face, knowing that this time, she had pulled Lucy into some real trouble.

Lucy charged towards her but before she could get to Cassandra, a pair of strong arms had wrapped around her, holding her back from her goal, it was the beta.

The entire place went quiet again as the crowd of girls paved way quickly for the approaching man, Alpha Darren himself.

Lucy felt her heart skip several beats. She did not even want to imagine what would happen to her for breaking his vase but as long as she was not killed, Lucy was ready to make Cassandra go through double of whatever she would go through.

But then the beats increased and this time, Lucy was sure that it was not just the fear running through her veins, it was something else .

She could feel her wolf inside of her with a rough movement, it was a feeling that she had never felt and as soon as the face of Alpha Darren came in sight, the word she did not want came from her wolf.

"Mate!"
