KATHERINE

“You should eat so as not to get the Alpha pissed.” Eve strode towards me, stopping briefly to shake her head as she effortlessly dropped a glass of coffee on the desk before me.

I wondered for the first time if I made the right choice. He asked me to suck it up since making a pup was my only reason for being here. I didn’t exactly have a choice either.

“If I need to eat anything, I’ll get it myself.” I chided with a forced smile and she wagged a brow, as if wanting to burst into a fit of unbearable laughter.

“You want me to get killed?” As she asked I just kept a straight face. I didn’t care whatever he’s to do to her. I just want to have some time to myself and get my head straight.

Which includes not eating either. That being the least of my problems.

“I think you should take your leave. You will only die if you choose to confess to him. My mouth is sealed.” I cleared my throat and started, a little too eager for the space I was yearning.

For a second, her face depicted confusion before it was swept away and replaced by suspicion.

“Don’t tell me you’re planning to run away?” Her eyes abruptly widened to the size of a saucer pan as she stared at me, horrified.

“I don’t think I understand what you’re trying to say. Run away? Where to?” I repeated, an unbelievable scoff erupting from my chest.

This is absurd. I wish I could slap some sense into her right now. I will only be able to run away if there’s a tiny chance I would even reach halfway before I get caught.

Additionally, this whole building has a terrible amount of guards securely guarding it.

“Who knows? I don’t read minds. However, I’ll advice you against it. It just won’t end up well.” I found her face before my eyes, as she warned in such a way I mimicked the fear she must be expecting to be running through my veins.

When she drawed back and left grinning from ear to ear, I ran my fingers deep into my hair and groaned in frustration.

Her presumed was particularly something that had skipped my mind. Now that she’s laid the idea before me, it’s becoming even more tempting.

Something I want to reconsider but can place me six feets under the ground.

In no time I was on my feet heading towards the door. I dragged myself out of my room in haste for some fresh air, acting oblivious to the lines of guards I see at every taken step.

“Got you. I was just about to come and fetch you.” Eve, with the same taunting smile she had on her face not quite long ago, appeared before me unexpectedly obstructing my way.

“What do you—“

“Alpha Derek requests… No, let me rephrase, demands your presence.” I haven’t finished saying when she interrupted and without waiting for my affirmation, grabbed at my arm and started leading me away.

“Hey, be careful with me. I can walk all on my own.”

A matter of time and I turned around to realize I was now inside of Derek’s room. This time he isn’t present and I can’t discern his scent either.

I casted a look around the room and that was when I caught sight of a small round table with dishes on it from which a wafting tempting

scent oozed out to fill the atmosphere. And my nostrils.

I walked to the chair slowly and sat, as my fingers cautiously reached for the lid of the dish’s cover, paying no mind to the discouraging side of me.

Do I even know whose food this is? There’s a low possibility it was what I was brought here for. A reason I badly want to wait but whatever meal this is was too disturbing and if I was to think of waiting till he gets here, by that time, his blazing aura would be too intimidating to get even a spoonful inside my tummy.

‘Which do you choose, Katherine?’ I thought to myself. By now my fingers are starting to shiver against my lose of composure.

“What are you doing here?” A bellow arose as the door was jammed close behind me. I can’t tell by what speed I dropped the dish’s cover but it soon clattered to the ground, breaking into tiny pieces which went splattered around.

I gasped, shocked. My hands flew over my mouth as a muffled ‘fuck!’ escaped me. More so, a sneaky glance behind me to caught a glimpse of Derek and my thighs began to tremble.

What have I done?!

“I—you— I was told you called for me. Oh my goodness, I’m so sorry.” My feet went ahead of me, one after the other, as I circled the havoc and mess I made on the sparkling floor.

I watched as he slowly peered down at the floor and then back at me. My convincing smile disappeared against the force of his set jaw and narrowed eyes.

“I didn’t call for you. So tell me, what is this you’ve done?” His predatory eyes danced around me as he chided. Only when I raised a brow did I realize something; I was tricked.

By Eve of all people, goddamn it! How could she? I told her I wasn’t in the mood to eat anything but I never had an idea she could go this far. I mean, it isn’t even her stomach being starved and obviously— she won’t be the one to meet his rage right now either.

My heart began thudding as I bent over the glasses. My hands shaky as I tried to search for any sense of reasoning left in me whilst I began to scoop the dangerous sharp broken pieces in my palm.

“Katherine!” His voice slashed into the stilled air with irritation and his feet was right before me to jerk at my hand causing the broken pieces I had managed to gather to come crashing back to the floor before I knew it.

For the first time I didn’t adhere to his command. I froze, my lungs lost of oxygen as the painful way his feet sank into the piercing glasses made a sharp chill course over me.

I internally cried for myself as fear totally engulfed me.
