Chapter 10

Emma got back from the family dinner but Adriel was not back home. She could not eat much at the family dinner because of how tense it was so she had a light dinner at home and waited up for Adriel.

Adriel trudged through the front door in his wheelchair, his exhaustion evident in his slumped shoulders and weary eyes. Emma rushed to his side, concern etched on her face.

"Hey, how was your day?" she asked, helping him out of his coat.

Adriel sighed, collapsing onto the couch. "Long, stressful and frustrating."

Emma sat beside him, her hand on her knee. "Want to talk about it?"

Adriel rubbed his temples, his eyes closed as he balanced himself on the couch, "Can I get a bottle of water first?"

She nodded and stood up to get a bottle of water for him.

Handing it over to him, she sat across him.

He raised a brow when he saw her do that, "Come sit here."

Smiling, he motioned her to come sit near him. She agreed but stayed a distance off him.
