Chapter Thirteen

During their entire conversation, this was the first time Rome noticed an honest expression from Amara, and he was now curious about what the look of anger in her eyes meant.

"Is there a problem?" Rome asked, trying to push their conversation further so he can get an idea of who he was dealing with before anything else.

"No. It's just frustrating that you are being so technical with me. It makes me feel like you are suspicious of me or something." Amara said, giving a weak smile. 

There was a brief pause as Rome stared intensely at her, wondering if she just had an innocent face or she was simply good at hiding her actual emotions.

Then he tapped the desk and said, "Don't worry. I'm skeptical of everyone, except those that I already trust."

"Well, if that's the case, then I hope I can be someone that you can trust someday, hopefully soon." Amara calmly intoned.

Looking directly into Rome's eyes, she then softly smiled with her eye
