Billy

I noticed that the girl in front of me was losing consciousness. I caught her right before she fell. I took her to the side, found a different outfit and changed her into it. I cleaned up all the blood off her. I hid her brand with her hair. I took a look out the door and no one was coming by. I zipped her into my jacket and the hoodie hid her face. It looked like there was something there but unless someone stopped me they wouldn’t know what. I moved fast and then got us out of the building within ten minutes. It was extremely nerve wracking but once we were out I unzipped my jacket. I took the jacket and used it to tie her to me. I had her sitting in front of me on the motorcycle and was holding onto her.

 I started riding away and moving as fast as I could so that wouldn’t be dangerous for her. I was taking her to my sister in law's house. I hadn’t seen her in over ten years. I knew she’d have mixed feelings but she’d take us in. We’d only be stopping there to pick up some clothes and get a little rest. To go on the run. We wouldn’t be able to ever come back to this area after that. I was expecting to be able to fill her in before I came with my daughter. I wasn’t expecting to escape today. But I am glad to finally be able to have her in my arms again. 

That bitch couldn’t let me explain in my own time to her that she’s my daughter. I wasn’t allowed to tell her so I was going to wait till we escaped. Then I was going to tell her that she was my kid. She’s going to have so many questions and I’m going to have to sit down and explain myself. After an hour of riding and running on adrenaline I got to her house. I untied my coat from the girl who was sleeping so comfortably. I hadn’t been able to use her real name since she was one. Before she was branded 504F she was my daughter Talia. The thought itself made me tear up. I wiped the tears. This wasn't the time for it. I rang the bell and waited. There was no response so I rang again and then a tired woman responded. Billy, what are you doing here? She looked a bit annoyed. Then she saw me carrying a little girl. What the hell is going on? I asked can I come in? I’ll explain inside. She opened the door wider and moved aside. 

When I walked in I asked if I could put her on a bed? She led me to a guest room she had and said you can set her up in here. I pulled the blankets and set her down. She shuddered and wouldn’t let go of my hand for a long moment. I could see the pain in her face but she was still out. I finally managed to get out of her grip. I put the blankets over her and walked out after taking one more look back. 

She said so you have a lot of explaining to do. I nodded and said I know. I don’t even know where to start. She said start with how my sister died and where the hell you went afterwards. I lost my entire family in a week and I wasn’t ever told why. I was allowed to leave the test facility after they killed my sister. As long as I didn’t ask questions or ever try to fight against them. I was working for them and they knew I had the power to really damage them. So they made that decision in an attempt to not have to fight me. I knew I’d wind up dead at the end and knew my sister would never want that. So I listened to them and left. But I never got answers and you're going to give me them.

 I nodded my head and said before she went into labor she told me she had only a few days to live. She said all the experiments made her very in tune with her body. She knew she was going to die soon. She said trust me and told me but don’t worry about me,  live for that little girl. She is going to be very special. You need to protect her because they are going to want her. I have always wanted out of this life. You have always been free. Take your freedom. Take my daughter before they realize I didn’t survive the experiment. Before they realize she is what they were looking for. After she is born, take her and run. Run as fast as you can and don’t look back. She told me there was nothing that could be done to save her. So please hear her dying wish. So I listened because she was never wrong. Alicia, my sister in law nodded her head and said yeah she always was right. Dammit I hated that about her at times.  

So what happened then she finally asked? I said after she gave birth and got to hold her baby, she nodded to me. She said I love you to me and then looked at the baby and kissed her before she was whisked away to get cleaned. I followed the other doctors to the other room while they tended to your sister. After the baby was cleaned I asked to hold her and I would take her back to the room. But instead I kept moving and there wasn’t much security here. That was my doing because I had a say in the matter. No one would stop me knowing my status. I left the hospital and I drove away. I went to my vacation home first. Then got fake documents together. I got us on a plane and went four hours away. She was a pretty quiet little girl. As long as I fed her and changed her she was happy and quiet. For a year I was able to hide her away. I raised her by myself. I loved her more than anything. I never stopped mourning my wife. But I had to take care of this life that relied on me solely. 

Alicia asked what happened when she turned one? I said they found us. They were looking all over for us because the baby was alive when she was born then she was very special. The baby shouldn’t have even survived in the womb with how sick she was. But she did survive meaning she had some special hidden strength. So they were looking for us everywhere and finally found us when she was one. They came in with fifteen men with all types of guns and equipment. They overwhelmed me and there was no way out. If I fought I would die, my child would have to watch that and then still be taken away to be tortured. I was given an option to die fighting or give in and we will allow you to work as her guard. You can care for her as you please as long as she is ours to experiment on. So I gave in and watched as my daughter was taken out of my hands. We were both placed in separate cars. I wasn’t allowed to see her for another year. Apparently they didn’t want her to remember her father. They wanted to break that bond. I would be no more than a guard to her. That was my punishment for taking her and running. 

She asked is that girl your daughter? I said yes and your niece. She teared up and said how did you get out and what does this mean? I sighed this truly was a long day. I looked at my clock and realized it was now one am. The adrenaline wore off and I was ready to crash. I really couldn’t spend more than a day here either. So I had to get to sleep quite quickly. She said what’s that about? I said sorry I am exhausted. This has been a very taxing day. Today, unexpectedly they decided to try and kill her. She became too much of a threat and they didn’t have a way of controlling it. They went in with the intention of killing her. I followed hoping there would be some way to save her. It turned out she already had enough power to be a threat. She took out four men in the matter of seconds all with tears in her eyes. 

She begged them to just let her live and she would let them live. But they weren’t going to listen to her. I was well aware. Her only way out was incapacitating them. So she did what she had to. She is the only reason we got out. Right after she was free she passed out and has been asleep since. Anyway I can’t stay here long. I want to be gone before they even know I was here so you're not implicated. I just needed a place where I could rest. Then I’m going on the run again. She said not without me you're not. I am not being left alone again. I want to get to know my niece. I said fine, we leave together in the afternoon. But I have to get some rest. Then we gotta get moving. We need a car they can’t track and we are probably going to have to sleep in that car until I can get us a place with cash and under a fake name. We are going to have to change locations every two weeks for a while. She nodded and said I got you. I will start packing then while you rest. I’m too wired to sleep now. I said good you’ll have more packing to do. I have what I came with. As well as my bank card. She said but they can track it. I said I’m closing down my account and taking all the money out. Every transaction should be in cash. She said ok then I’ll do the same. I said good. Then it’s settled that’s the first stop we make before we get on the road. She said yes and that she had some ideas of where to go for the car. I said good now I’m going to get some rest. We will chat more after I get up. I had been up since 5am yesterday. So I really needed the rest. I laid down next to Talia and passed out soon after.
