Pru shrugged, “Eat what you can. I’m sure someone will eat the rest.” Purity looked at him for a moment, finding what he said a bit odd, and separated a few pieces onto a napkin that she would eat and left the plate for what she wouldn’t eat. Two bites into the crispy bacon, and she coughed. Pru had just picked up his book to read it and looked over at her, “You okay?” She nodded and responded before coughing again, “Dry, my throat is a bit dry, but I’m okay.” Still coughing, she grabbed the glass of orange juice and quickly tried drinking it, but then a severe tickle in her throat made her cough hard into the glass, and most of it came spilling out onto her chest. “Oh no!” The coughing subsided, and Purity looked down at her chest. The orange liquid had soaked the top of her breasts, causing her shirt to cling. “I’m so sorry!” Pru could only stare. Even where he sat, he could see the generous mounds hugged by the stained wet shirt. Purity coughed again, and he could see he
Purity sat on the shower floor using the showerhead with one hand to rinse her body after washing it the best she could. The murmured sound of Lasci’s voice and the other brother, Pru, could barely be heard through the door. She could hear the comment and reaction to being put in a different room. It made her feel bad. Purity never in her life would have thought this could happen. She grew up very fortunate, raised by her grandmother, always escaping those moments when something could have happened or even killed her. But now, here she was with a hurt leg and wrist. “Guess your good luck has all run out, Purity Jones,” she said softly. She didn’t think the men who had been looking after her were terrible so far. Lasci’s impatience was understandable, and she tried avoiding confrontation the best she could. However, Pru seemed much nicer and more patient. He was much broader than Lasci, she thought. Even his chocolate brown hair was cute, she mused. Lasci’s eyes, framed with his b
“How is she?” Amorous came out of his room looking better, but Lasci ignored his question, more worried about how his youngest brother was doing. “How are YOU feeling?” The youngest grinned slightly, “I’ve been better, that’s for sure, but after tomorrow I should be great. I reflected on what had happened. I’m sorry to you and the female. Next time I will be more careful. I was pissed when I left, which affected my driving.” Lasci nodded, “I’m glad you realize that. You know where Pru is?” Amorous shook his head, “Nah, but I know Tener and Johnathan are in the other room decorating.” “Decorating?” Lasci opened the bedroom door next to his and walked in. It was like he was in a completely different house. It screamed girly. From the pink curtains to the pink angora rugs, Lasci almost got a headache from so much pink. All that was missing was the furniture. “What in the hell are you doing? She’s not 10!” Johnathan was hanging a large ballerina painting on the wall and laughed,
Purity wiped her tears and looked at the broken dish on the bed. She felt terrible, but it was an accident. Grabbing the two halves, she stuck them in the nightstand drawer. She promised to fix it once she had the chance. Laying back against the pillow and taking a deep breath, Purity looked toward the window. Rain was starting to tap it. The sound was relaxing, and since she’d taken a shower, focusing was a little easier. She closed her eyes, thinking of what to do about school, her grandmother’s house, and everything else. School had given her two weeks off to get things settled with her grandmother’s home and the funeral, but right now, she hadn’t even had a chance to go to the hospital and deal with that. As for thing’s here, she thought while glancing at the brace on her wrist and leg, they would have to be taken one day at a time. A soft knock came on the door, bringing her out of her thoughts. The door opened, and it was a person she didn’t recognize. She assumed he was th
When Lasci walked in and told Amorous to leave, it was hard not to notice how close his younger brother was sitting to Purity. The feeling of jealousy hit Lasci, but he kept his cool. “Since you’re feeling so chatty, younger brother, do me a favor and look for Johnathan. Tell him I want a security and lock upgrade down on the house. He can make the arrangements.” Amorous only rolled his eyes and smiled at Purity before saying, “I’ll see you later.” He got up and winked at her, not looking at his Alpha. Lasci watched, dumbfounded at the audacity of the youngest walking out of the room. Then he heard Pru snicker as he came in, “Brave, isn’t he.” Shaking his head, Lasci said to Pru, “Do me a favor and get Johanthan’s SUV pulled up close to the front doors. I parked it in the garage, and the keys are still in the ignition.” In a bit of panic about what Lasci was planning with Purity, “Where are you going with her? She’s injured and shouldn’t be moved.” Lasci gave Pru a loo
Lasci grinned to himself, acting like he didn’t hear her. “I’m sure Pru has the SUV pulled out front by now. I’ll carry you down. Try not to move.” “Okay,” Purity replied as Lasci reached his arm under her legs and behind her back, scooping her up. She weighed nothing, he thought to himself and thinking that Tener probably thought the same thing when he carried her up the other day. “You need to eat more.” Nodding, Purity replied, “I usually eat a lot, but the medication gets my stomach in knots, and I don’t feel like eating.” “Regardless if you feel like it or not, you can’t get the proper nutrition if you starve yourself. When we return, I’ll have Johnathan fetch foods you like to eat.” He looked down at her smile and quickly turned as the bedroom door opened. “Oh, sorry,” Tener said, closing the door. “What is it? We’re getting ready to leave.” Lasci knew Tener probably misunderstood, but he wasn’t about to explain himself. Opening the door, Tener peeked his h
Arriving at the hospital, Pru parked the car and got out, followed by Lasci. “She’s going to need a wheelchair. I’ll go get it.” Lasci nodded at Pru’s offer as they both got out. Then, opening the back driver door, Lasci gently shook Purity’s shoulder, “Hey, wake up. We’re here.” It took a moment, and she finally opened her eyes, asking, “Are we at the hospital?’ Lasci nodded, responding, “Yes, and Pru went to get you a wheelchair.” “Oh, okay. Can you help me with my book bag?” Lasci went to the back passenger side and grabbed the bag off the floorboard. “They’ll probably need proof for next of kin. My id card should be in here,” she said, flipping the bag over with one hand. Now Lasci knew why they couldn’t find identification on her. No one checked the zipper around the bottom of the bag. “Thank you,” she said and unzipped the bag, “Ah, here it is. I was worried it’d get ruined in the accident, but everything looks okay.” Just then, Pru came out, pushing a wheelchair towa
The ride back was quiet, Purity had fallen asleep again, and Pru stared out the window, driving. Lasci had a lot on his mind, between everything going on at the house since Purity came and talking to the nurse for a moment about Purity’s grandmother. “Do you think the room is ready?” Pru asked Lasci in a quiet tone breaking Lasci’s deep thought. Lasci shrugged, “Not sure. They’ve had plenty of time. I’ll give Johnathan a call and ask him.” Lasci pulled out his phone and dialed Johnathan’s number. The demon butler answered, “Yes, can I help you?” “How’s the room situation coming?” “Oh, it’s done! Everything is finally dry and set up. It looks great,” he said with too much enthusiasm to be coming from a demon. Lasci glanced back at Purity, still leaning against the seat, sleeping, “Well, I spoke to the nurse. The female was right. The only living family member she had, was her grandmother. So, I think it’s safe to say she isn’t a mate to a pack and is just a normal human. She m
Unfortunately, I got very sick in early 2023, and in October of 2023, I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma type cancer. I have finished chemo, and it is officially in remission (yay! thank the Lord). I will be updating soon, hopefully, as my energy returns. I want to finish my stories and continue others soooo badly, it is driving me crazy! I am soo sorry for the lack of updating, and keeping in touch. I hope everyone is well and I look forward to writing for you again soon. Please be patient and thank you for waiting on me, I promise to hurry!
It was Tener. Standing there with one hand holding the towel closed and the other on the stall, he looked at her with deep blue eyes. Water was dripping from his tawny hair plastered along the side of a very trim, muscular arm. She could see the muscles on his stomach rippling south below the towel. Letting out a loud squeak, Purity turned, hiding her face, “TENER! This is the women's shower!” He didn't respond, but she could feel the burn of his gaze on her naked backside. At that point, the shower sound was muted because she clearly heard the slip and drop of his towel. “What are you doing?” she asked, still hiding her face, not daring to turn around. Suddenly warm, gentle hands slipped up her waist and beneath her arms before gently cupping her full breasts. “Shhh, don’t move…,” he said, pressing his hardness against her backside and leaning to her ear. Purity was stuck. She didn’t want this, even as she protested, but something in her made her stay still and not resist, “Te
Johnathan's laughter rang through the phone as Lasci started to undress to ready his wolf, "What's so funny?" he asked, kicking off his shoes. "A moment, please, let me gather myself," Johnathan said, trying to calm the laughter, "You have no need to rush out as if saving the day, Lasci. The shifter is harmless. We've already had a nice chat over the phone, and as for Purity, I will say she's enjoying her dominance over Tener. I brought them to the gym for some blood-pumping exercise and discipline. It turns out our Purity is quite the little fox when it comes to handling your brother. She has had him on his back several times after learning only a few moves. I admire her capabilities, to be honest." Lasci took a deep breath and leaned against the wall in the foyer, "You took them to the gym, for a date?" "Yes, why? It's perfectly normal, and it allows them to be close physically. Is there something wrong with that, Lasci?" As much as Lasci wanted to yell into the phone, "YES
Bastian smirked, “Thought you’d find that worth staying in my company for a moment. After your bad form toward my love, everyone left the dinner table. So, eventually, I found myself waiting on her balcony with no intention of eavesdropping. But, mind you, it just happened that way. I must have caught the tail end of something because one minute, they were talking about your nasty declaration, and the next, the female wolf was attempting to open the balcony door. I was about to hide myself when your brother, Pru, came in the bedroom door and caught her attempting to leave.” Lasci shook his head, irritated, “You’re telling me something I already know, Bastian. Get on with it, or I’ll lose my patience.” Bastian smiled innocently, “I’m getting there, be patient. Now, where was I? Oh yes, her leaving and your brother coming in. So they had exchanged a few words, and the female wolf left.” Bastian acted like that was the end of it, and Lasci snapped, “You’re wasting my time.” “
Lasci paced the floor, his mind on edge about Purity and everything he said the night before. Now that Fahal had left, he was worried Purity might hate him even more. The front door opened, breaking his thoughts when Pru came in. “Any luck?” Prus shook his head, “Nothing. She’s either covered her trail perfectly or had help.” Running his hands desperately through his hair Lasci swore, “Fuck, I bet that vampire helped her. Where is he?” “I haven’t seen him since dinner last night. It’s possible he helped her leave, but we can’t be certain. If the female wolf was here, in fact, looking for a mate, I doubt she would have left regardless of what the situation was. Not all of us will be mated to Purity, so she had a chance. If you ask me, I think she was just looking for a place to hide before moving on. Refuge, in a manner of speaking.” Lasci nodded in agreement but still felt uneasy about it, “What do you think we should tell Purity? 'Her newfound companion just up and left b
Purity watched as Johnathan threw a wave out the van’s window and drove off. She was nervous about being left in Tener’s care but decided she could fend for herself by turning away from him and heading straight into the kitty café. Small mews from the kittens in a small enclosed sitting area reached her ears, and the smell of baked goods and tea filled her nose. A standing sign greeted her and read, “Find your seat, lift your feet, and get cozy. Our fluffy friends will find their way to you. They are well behaved and will let you enjoy your meal in peace (All cooked breakfast is chef’s choice, baked items are created fresh every morning.).” Purity giggled because at that moment, a large, short-haired tabby rubbed against her legs and meowed loudly, demanding attention. “Awe, aren’t you precious? Come here, big guy,” Purity cooed as she picked up the tabby to cuddle him. “Welcome! Sit anywhere you’d like, and I’ll be with you shortly,” a cheery male voice said from behind a high d
Walking over to the kitchen window, Lasci peeked through the blinds. Only blackness looked back at him with the occasional light display from the storm that stayed in the clouds. He wasn’t worried about Fahla but about how Purity would take the news that the female wolf had left. At dinner, he couldn’t help noticing the easy conversation between them and the laughter coming from Purity. They appeared to be close in such a short amount of time. It was the same with his brothers, too. She could talk comfortably with them and joke about things. So why did he always feel outside her circle, like a stranger sometimes? Purity lay in bed with her eyes closed while the morning light tickled her lashes. She didn’t dream but a tiny bit about Lasci. Recalling it, she could remember the feeling, and the images remained of them both staring across from each other, standing on opposite sides of a small creek. There were urban displays of everyday human life behind Purity, and behind Lasci wa
Pru ran to the balcony and was sure he caught sight of her for only a moment before she disappeared along the dark tree line. Going back inside quickly, he shut the door as quietly as possible, seeing Purity was still asleep. Walking fast, he left the room to run down the stairs and chase after Fahla. But he stopped, suddenly hesitant. Pru knew if the female wolf wanted to stay, she would have. He couldn’t understand why she’d left, but what was even more confusing was how she managed to jump down off the balcony when that was something even he couldn’t do without almost injuring himself. Of course, Lasci had jumped off his own balcony a few times in wolf form, but Lasci was an Alpha, so it was understandable. “Is Fahla a true Alpha female?” Pru wondered to himself. “Are they asleep?” Lasci asked, coming from the great room and looking up the stairs at Pru. Pru nodded, “Well, Purity is, but the female wolf is gone.” “Gone? Gone where?” Pru shook his head, “No clue Lasci.
Everyone had managed to sit down for dinner, but it wasn’t the usually pleasant and funny atmosphere. Libidi still held a grudge against Fahla, and Lasci was unhappy initially. Purity tried smoothing things over, but none of the brothers or Bastian seemed comfortable. Finally, after an argument with Lasci, causing him to get up from the dinner table and leave, Purity lost her appetite and invited Fahla to stay in her bedroom for the night. “Ignore him. He’ll get over it,” Purity said, referring to Lasci and slamming her bedroom door after Fahal made her way in. The female wolf laughed in amusement, “You’re impressive, kid. Every Alpha I’d ever come across wouldn’t just sit there and argue before finally pouting and leaving the room.” Purity laughed nervously, “Yeah, well, I'm sure he’ll make me pay for it later. But I don’t care. He had no right saying that.” Purity plopped on her bed, and Fahla jumped up on the creamy pink sofa across from her and lay down, “He’s right, tho
